Started watching you back during Covid to live vicariously through your travels. You convinced my wife and I to start traveling to Playa Del Carmen and this will be our 4th year making the trip. Keep up the good work.
Hi William, I just flew from Puerto Vallarta back to Los Angeles where I live. I loved Puerto Vallarta and Mexico. I have been to Mexico City, Guadalajara, and have not been to both cities since 1980, when I was 24 years old. Now I am 68 years old and retired back in 2021. I cannot believe how much both cities have grown in over 40 years. The greenery in Guadalajara is amazing. I went with a couple of buddies back in 1980. One had family in Mexico City and the other had family in Guadalajara. It's sad because one of them is no longer living. He died at an early age of Skin Cancer. I miss him. Like they say Cherish the memories you have; they will always be with you. Amen!!
Hey, William! My husband and I have been watching your videos since we visited Mexico back in 2020. During that time, we spent 2 weeks in Tulum and just got back from another trip there. As soon as we saw this video, we knew we had to comment. Your videos have been very educational for us and helpful. I do have to say that this time around, Tulum was a STARK difference from our first time there 5 years ago! Tulum is super expensive and overpriced, which for us isn’t too much of a big deal if we’re visiting, but I can’t imagine staying for long unless you’re willing to spend a ton of money. There’s definitely some affordable housing options and cheaper ways to get around like renting bikes and using the ADO. Unfortunately for us, we do not prefer public transportation and rented a car and used taxis. A simple taxi ride from the beach to Aldea Zama is $35-40+. On new years, we paid $40 for a 2 minute taxi ride. On that day, we went to Papaya Playa and just for a palapa for 3 and a day of food and drinks, it was $700. Granted, there’s much cheaper options such as entering the ruins or Jaguar National Park but even they now require admission fees. We also waited in a line of cars for 1.5 hours to get to our Las Palmas for a beach day due to the amount of cars paying to get in. When we were there in 2020, you could freely drive up to Playa Paraiso and swim at your own leisure and what we learned this time is that everything in Tulum is pay walled! While it’s very beautiful and you’ll definitely be around people your age, it is extremely expensive and time consuming. It’s not the place I would pick to escape high expenses. If you want any sort of quality of life there or a better lifestyle, you’re going to have to pay to play- a LOT.
Sad that happened so quickly! Tulum has attracted all the young hipster, Trust fund types and unfortunately there’s been cartel/drug related violence over the past few years as they fight over this growing market.
You missed the earth quake on the west side of Mexico this morning. I hear Bucerias got shook. I really wished you’d come back to the states and visit all 50 states. The diversity is vast. There’s enough content for your blog to last years. You have your brother there and Maria which you could use as home bases as you travel.
Because of you, I stayed in Puerto Vallarta for six months with my family. After leaving in 2022 I find it now to be overpriced also. Prices have doubled all over that bay.
That's the problem Rich White foreigners make it expensive then y'all Leave Making it unaffordable for the locals . That is what gentrification is Hawaiians have been saying it for Decades .
William, perhaps it's time to consider whether you are chasing something or running form something? Either is okay. Most go through one or both. Good luck.
For a moment I think we all thought that you were going to move to Cabarete, Dominican Republic. I found the paradise of Cabarete thanks to you William. Dont know much about your new destination.
Tulum used to be an untouched paradise. It is totally different now with all the people and not so great stuff that goes on there but you’ll find more people your age. I love Cancun and riviera Maya. By far the best part of Mexico IMO. Enjoy
Acapulco my favorite for over 63 years, but earthquakes were the deal breakers., so in 2021 I moved to Queretaro, and still here at 83. I worked and traveled the world.
Glad you're moving back to the east side of Mexico. It hard to believe it's been almost 5 years ago when you first started posting about this area during covid. I hope you find a place to settle down for a while. 🙂
I am so happy that you are "On The Road Again" and showing us places that you are exploring! That is the content of this channel that I have always enjoyed the most! Cannot wait to see more of your adventures in this part of Mexico. Happy travels and may you find exactly what you are looking for in life!
I am sure you already know this, but you are going to realize that Playa Del Carmen is by far the best of the three big cities on the coast. Tulum is cool to visit every once in a while though, but the prices are outrageous there.
I was just at playa del carmen and there’s no other place like playa del carmen…although where William is at now is very nice to…I was just in playa del carmen last month
You can freely and openly enter the beach through the conveniently located "eufemia" beahclub in tulum, they have bike and scooter parking for free too.
Hey William! I'm heading to Cancun with my family at the end of April. If you're around, it would be awesome to meet up! My wife and I are huge fans of your channel. Cancun and Tulum is our favorite getaway. We love all the XCARET parks too! It’d be my treat if you want to hang out 1 day . We really enjoy your channel. Have a great time in Cancun!
A house will not keep you in a location and give you a feeling of home, a good woman and social circle will. You need to mingle more with the locals. Make Spanish as good as your first languange with courses at schools which is also a good way to meet people. Go join a salsa club with both locals and tourists/expats. Btw Playa is better than Cancun or Tulum, it has the best of both and is located nicely in between. Cheers
Nice. I'm surprised if you thought Vallarta is overpriced why you would want to go to Tulum. Tulum has the reputation to be overpriced as well, but I look forward to seeing your videos there.
You mentioned about high prices in the Puerto Vallarta area. I'm afraid you will be totally shocked about the prices in Tulum. Tulum is way higher than PV.
When I lived in Cancun for seven years I drove to tulum many times, hope it hasn’t changed to much can’t wait to see where you staying and hope you’re happy there I love Cancun
My friend was once deported from Los Angeles (LAX) too for the same reason. He applied for a waiver in Germany and had no trouble to obtain it. Since then he traveled a couple times to the US without problems. I think.. now since you have proof of being a travel RUclipsr.. you wouldn’t have any problems anymore once you get a visa. Maybe after all, Texas might be the place you would feel at home again. I became an American and have an apartment in West Hollywood now and a house in Palms Springs. It’s sad to hear your Visa was declined. I would enjoy your US travel videos a lot.
William. we are so glad you are back in the Mexican Riviera,, your will get more views and subscribers will increase, You will need to up load more videos,, GREAT SUCCESS
William, I’d love to know why you think you need to settle down somewhere. You’re definitely a nomad. There’s more than enough time “later” in your life to stay in one place, but for now, enjoy what you do and thank you for sharing your travels with us! It would be fun to bump into you sometimes 😊
@dianaj3139 Hola friends 👋🏼 👋🏼 We love the Caribbean side of Mexico, though it's pretty touristy. We will be living in Cancun in 2026 see you there. ❤️✌🏼
I knew it!! That you will come back. According with your videos and comments, Mexican Caribbean has been your favorite place... welcome to Cancun or near cities in Quintana Roo..
Sad to hear you’ll probably never go again to PV. It’s so beautiful there - the mountains, the water, etc. Air is cooler there in winter too. Surprised, as you had already spent a good bit of time there a few years ago, in the Marina and in Boca de Tomatlan, etc.
Hi William, Long time subscribers to your channel. We are excited to see your journey in Tulum and are dying to see your next video to see how you experience the area. We feel as if you will love all the cenotes for doing “tricks” but will not love how hard it is to experience the beach. Finding people your age is important. We had to chuckle a little and wonder if you’ll be trading in your button down palm tree shirts for a kimono and a hat with a feather in it! 😅 we absolutely cannot wait to see your next video and wish you the very best!! Please be careful diving in Cenotes and be safe!!! Have a great time!
While PV is getting more expensive. I found the food better and much cheaper taxi prices better compared to the Cancun areas. The locals are also nicer with less scams everywhere. The Cancun beaches and water are much nicer than PV.
Great to see you again William. Glad to see you’re going back to the carribean side. Hope to see some videos of you in Tulum and hopefully playa Del Carmen.
Been going to Riviera Maya for over 30 years. Used to be paradise, They are ruining it with the train, malls, traffic, pollution, resorts etc. Very sad.
Yes, I agree. I've been going there since 1992 and I don't prefer the changes!! I'm toying with the thought of sharing some really brilliant places but I don't want to share them because I don't want them to become well-known by the mainstream public!!! Call me selfish!!
Good to see you again! We’re staying at Casa Victoria now and recognize your lovely unit. Sorry you didn’t like Bucerias… I guess it is a bunch of old Canadians as you suggested which is perfect for us. - not so much for a guy of your vintage. Hope you enjoy Tuluum!
Hola William, "old retired Canadian" here, and I have to agree with you 100%. Even though I'm 60, it is for this very reason I avoid Bucerias . I was only there once and I will never go back it's just too, too full of retired gringo's. I've mentioned this to you before over the years, you love snorkelling and swinging, you should really check out the island of Roatan! it's just south of Belize on the Caribbean coast and belongs to Honduras but it is absolutely and completely safe there. I have snorkelled all over the world and I would say the waters in the Blue Channel just off the coast of Roatan are comparable to Greece. If you take a short ferry to the island of Utila you can even snorkel and dive with whale sharks it is amazing!! Mucha Suerte desde Isla Vancouver
ps... Even though I'm considered old there is tons of young people in Roatan as well. I stayed at a hostel with my own house but there was other private rooms as well, all mainly young people your age I have been twice now. EXCELLENT DIVING AND SNORKELLING ;)) !!!
I lived in PV for the better part of 4 years (2018 - 2022). I'm an old retiree so I was fine with the place but it was obvious that it was not a good place younger folks. Even the bars pretty much exclusively play music from the 1960's - 1980's. And yes, PV and Mexican government is pricing themselves out. Good luck mi amigo.
Big Dog...glad your good and happy.be sure to check your Air Con and all the filters in any room you stay in as this can be bad for our health!Best healthy wishes!
I’ve lived in the US for over 40 years… if my family weren’t here, I would’ve left long ago. You’re not missing much at all. With the new presidency term, it’ll continue to go into sh*ts!
Hey William, have you ever gone scuba diving? Tulum at least used to be an amazing place to learn, because you can go to reefs and cenotes. We watch your videos all the time and hope you find what you're looking for. My fiance and I are both long-term live-abroad people and are still trying to figure out how we want to live (and love) our lives. So your videos hit home to us. Take care
Thank you for another wonderful video, William. I love your narrations style which is very unique to you. Your videos brought back so many fond memories of my time in Cancun and Tulum. I liked Cancun better as Tulum was a little boring, had too many mosquitoes, and too much of a hippie gringo vibe. For a great day trip,You can take a Colectivo to visit Akumal Beach from Tulum. You can also go further down to Mahahual! These are nice little places to see. Finally, I highly recommend you take a bus from Tulum to go to a small town called Bacalar. You could make it sort of a 3 -4 day trip. Bacalar is absolutely charming and one of my favourite little places in Mexico. I Had access to a free bike with my cheap hotel so I biked all over town. I also took several boat tours on the Laguna of seven colours. Enjoy your time in the Caribbean my friend. PS. I am Canadian but lived in El Paso Texas for a few years as I met a guy there. I would often cross the border to Juarez. Entering Mexico was a breeze, but returning to the states was hell. As a Canadian, I was never welcomed in United States, and I was always made to feel like I am a criminal when entering the United States so please don’t take that personally. The country goes through a lot of illegals so they have no choice but to do what they do. The way I see it. It is their loss and not yours.😊 PSS I stopped checking in bags eight years ago. I love your style of travelling as it is the only way to be free. ☺️
I think if you found a purpose it would not matter where you are living! That being said I find that Riviera Maya is as you say a gigantic bloodsucker. Good Luck and I do enjoy your videos.
People should check out Mazatlan. It’s a beautiful city and hidden gem. Not expensive like PV, Cabo, and all the tourist areas. I’ve been to them all and kept coming back here. I now call this place home and love it. Food is better. Beaches are so much more accessible and the people are amazing.
Now you can fly directly to Tulum, it has a new airport, you would have traveled to the new airport in Mexico City because Mexico City has a new airport too, and from there directly to the new airport in Tulum
@ 17:29, that is Javier making those awesome tacos Al Pastor in the main street of Tulum! I was there in July and Javier treated my family and I like royalty every time we went to get a bite. He is a nice guy. If anyone is there, please say "hello" to him from David, Asian dude that speaks spanish.
you can find nice hotels in Tulum in the town for less than $40 .La tulumena across the the bus station and there is some restaurant in boca paila, that are free .Just have to eat or drink at the Restaurants
Tulum is expensive but if you learn the ins and outs you can do very well pricing wise especially in the off season.. rental prices have never been cheaper..
Check out Ambergris Caye, Belize. A great mix of many vibes and cultures. You are right near there. Ambergris Caye is the southern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula only separated from Mexico by a small channel dugout by the Mayans. Belize mainland also has allot to offer for adventure travelers as yourself.
Your subscribers are right: recenter trip to Tulum convinced me never go back due to taxi scams, super high prices, pay walled off beaches, terrible! But go further down South on the coast to Mahuhual!!! Very chill and laid back and way cheaper
If I were María no way I will come back with William after all the girls in bikini he showed in the last videos.. mega big Flag. To marry, you need someone stable and trustable.
In this video he was crying when he said I'm so close to Texas but I can't get there.😢 but you are right going around with other girls. As a mother I don't want to see my son searching for happiness like that.William I hope you find what you are looking for!!!
Hey Bucerias Joel was saddened by the situation that happened ... He is a cool Canadian, but some of his other residents were what I heard were grumpy and annoying! William doesn't have time to develop "thick skin" and I don't blame him!!
You should go back for a trip to the US William... I dont know why you had a problem getting in before being a Swedish citizen.. give it another shot! You could go on lots of great adventures here!

The same, if not worse, in Los Cabos area. Worse, there's two prices, a tourist and a local price. Sad.

Hi William! So happy to see you in the Riviera Maya region again! 🥰🥰🥰
Hey williams! I almost my motivation in Puerto Vallarta! Too many old people. Might be time to go back to the eastside!!!!
Very very Inspiring video as always Sir!
Cheers!
I’m off to the Caribbeans in the next month or 2.
Try not to get sick again William!
Congrats Will. Cancun/Tulum excellent choice to make home. Cant wait to see how next 6 months go. Now time for some Fajitas and to Coooool OFF 😎😎✌🏻
William good to see you back home, live life to the full.
Ps hope Sven will meet there for a bite of fun.....
Big Dog...glad your good and happy.be sure to check your Air Con and all the filters in any room you stay in as this can be bad for our health!Best healthy wishes!
If I ever see you at the airport, I would invite you to the lounge as my guest. thanks for the the videos!
Love Cancun, we stayed at Panama Jacks best all inclusive resort ever going back for the 3rd time 2025, keep up the great videos!!
I’ve lived in the US for over 40 years… if my family weren’t here, I would’ve left long ago. You’re not missing much at all. With the new presidency term, it’ll continue to go into sh*ts!
I would love to come visit you in Tulum! 😊
🏳️🌈😌
Great success moving back to paradise!
Enjoy your next chapter William!
Nice video
Hey William, have you ever gone scuba diving? Tulum at least used to be an amazing place to learn, because you can go to reefs and cenotes. We watch your videos all the time and hope you find what you're looking for. My fiance and I are both long-term live-abroad people and are still trying to figure out how we want to live (and love) our lives. So your videos hit home to us. Take care
Happy travels William
It is their loss and not yours.😊
PSS I stopped checking in bags eight years ago. I love your style of travelling as it is the only way to be free. ☺️
Your jumps dives and tricks are really insane. You really shouldn’t. Great vlog ! Your USA visa story is nuts.
If you f'up with US immigration then you will not be welcome for many years
It's just a matter of time, with those jumps, before a miss-step occurs.
Yup I agree. The Cancun area and Playa Del Carmen area is my favorite place so far too.
As a semiretired Canadian, i am green with jealousy! Safe travels!
You're green from eating poutine and washing it down with lousey Tim's coffee
Hi William
We met you years ago in Costa Rica
Have you thought of trying the new super train in mexico??
Be safe
Terry Cox
I think if you found a purpose it would not matter where you are living! That being said I find that Riviera Maya is as you say a gigantic bloodsucker. Good Luck and I do enjoy your videos.
ya when I was in puerto vallarta I definitely met a ton of retired canadians and I agree its definitely an older scene even downtown PV
Canadians are different
People should check out Mazatlan. It’s a beautiful city and hidden gem. Not expensive like PV, Cabo, and all the tourist areas. I’ve been to them all and kept coming back here. I now call this place home and love it. Food is better. Beaches are so much more accessible and the people are amazing.
If tourists start going there they will ruin it 😅
We want to go there but we can't speak Spanish and that makes us nervous. If I could speak the lingo I'd be there on my next trip to Mexico
Too much cartel activity in that area. I do love La Paz though.
@ that’s all happening up north in Culiacán
@@Mark.Claughton I don’t speak Spanish and I live here and work in real estate.
Good video…loved your 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴 video as well .
Now you can fly directly to Tulum, it has a new airport, you would have traveled to the new airport in Mexico City because Mexico City has a new airport too, and from there directly to the new airport in Tulum
Yes, such a great option. Also you can know most Yucatán Peninsula travel through new Maya Train! 👍🏼
My goal is to live long enough to see 80 year old senior pool trick world champion.
Great vid as always William. Can’t wait for the new adventures and the poooool tricks 👍
Good choice…..that’s the best part of Mexico!
Tulum is expensive but if you learn the ins and outs you can do very well pricing wise especially in the off season.. rental prices have never been cheaper..
Woowww, what a place!!❤😂😂😂love u😅
Check out Ambergris Caye, Belize. A great mix of many vibes and cultures. You are right near there. Ambergris Caye is the southern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula only separated from Mexico by a small channel dugout by the Mayans. Belize mainland also has allot to offer for adventure travelers as yourself.
I agree, I think William would enjoy Ambergris Caye, Belize for a while, but if the younger folks don't show up he will get bored!
Your subscribers are right: recenter trip to Tulum convinced me never go back due to taxi scams, super high prices, pay walled off beaches, terrible! But go further down South on the coast to Mahuhual!!! Very chill and laid back and way cheaper
William when you find the love of your life, the place will not matter.blessing!!!!
William did find the love of his life. Maria is sitting in San Marcos, Texas.
I know that hoping they get together again.
💡👍Brilliant!!
What went down with that odd Canadian real estate guy in Bucerias? Was there an issue?
Haha ya I wondered that too!
Hey Bucerias Joel was saddened by the situation that happened ... He is a cool Canadian, but some of his other residents were what I heard were grumpy and annoying! William doesn't have time to develop "thick skin" and I don't blame him!!
@@dianaj3139 I wonder what caused them to be "grumpy and annoying"? Always 2 sides to the story.
You should go back for a trip to the US William... I dont know why you had a problem getting in before being a Swedish citizen.. give it another shot! You could go on lots of great adventures here!
Just got back from Isla Mujeres and heading to Tulum in a couple of weeks. Would love to just bump into you on the streets. Thanks for the videos!!
Go to Bacalar it's very nice there!
