- Today I am going to show you what I made my grandparents for lunch. My grandmother requested sopa de fideo with beef, so I had to make her some. This is gonna be good!

Ingredients
5 oz (142 g) Vermicelli noodles
8 oz (227 g) beef steak meat
1 beef or chicken bouillon cube
1/2 small onion
2 cloves garlic
3/4 cup (177 ml) tomato pureé
3 1/2 cups (828 ml) water
salt and pepper to taste

Wow gonna try adding meat I've always cooked it regular. Yet I add a spicy can of tomatoes chilli,diced onion, diced garlic and cumin for more flavor now that's the bomb.

Oh my grandma used to make this for me when I was feeling bad… I made it a few times for her before she passed when I was in college. This is still my number one favorite comfort food of all time and every time I make it I think of my grandma. Now I know what I’m having for dinner tonight. Thank you for sharing your love
One of my favorites from childhood. My mom and grandmother would use either round steak or ground beef but steak was used more often and it was perfect. They're both gone now but they did show my sisters and I how to make it. It's never quite the same though.
The comments about ways to do it differently make me smile and I'm sure they would work fine but there's no one single way to make this meal. I think the best way is the way you grow up enjoying it. If any of us would have suggested to mom or grandma a better or different way, they would have smiled and said "That's not how I do it. Sit down and eat."

Love this. I’m going to make this for my grandmother. She is from Mexico City. Years ago she opened a restaurant near San Diego. Brings back memories. Looking at me you’d never know I have Hispanic, people are always surprised. Then I cook them a recipe from grandmother. Never questioned again 🥰

This brought me memories of my Grandmother. She was a great cook and I learned by watching her in the kitchen.
We grew up cooking it with ground beef, so good and great memories. I care for my elderly mom now and I have made it with either fideo or conchas. ❤

I grew up with this, it was our baby sitters go to meal. I learned how to cook Mexican food through RUclips. My mom didn't teach me how to cook, and I don't have grandparents.

This is one of my favorite meals.
This is my go to soup. I always make it. My mother loves it. I add onions and chopped up bell peppers to it, it gives it an extra flavor. Chilli powder does wonders, I add it as well.

Great tip about toasting the pasta to preserve the texture! I hesitate adding noodles to soup because I don't like them bloated and soggy, so now I know how to prevent it. Thank you!
I make this but after browning the meat, I add 1 tablespoon vinegar, the broth and allow to simmer for about an hour, adding more broth as needed.
I then toast the noodles in separate pan, add onions and garlic until softened, pour that into the meat and broth, simmer for 15minutes and enjoy
It all works.
does the vinegar make it acidic? can you taste it when its finished?

When I make fideo I toast all the spices first and I add comino also the tomato sauce needs to be cooked in the oil makes it more flavorful I make little balls of ground beef instead of chuck steak, my mother always taught me you never mix fideo or cover it because it will turn to mush , but it’s a family staple in Mexican cooking 👍🎃🍁🍂👻
