Something about Kit I think could be interesting is the idea that Kit was already a pretty messed up individual before Starline. Kit’s very unstable in his personality as Tails notes while they’re talking, it’s a theory I’ve seen recently that the reason Kit was so much easier to change than Surge was because his already existing twisted mind was given direction, was given something to push towards, was given a GOAL. We see throughout the Comics that Kit is completely nonchalant about murder and he’s as well willing to manipulate others it get his mission completed.
Judging by the Starline’s test, it took way less attempts explaining his weak willpower. he has absolutely no sense of self-worth and cannot envision an existence where he isn't devoted to somebody else. Imagine how he would feel if Surge knew of his warped mindset and…kicks him out.
I’d actually love for that to be a future story point. I feel a split/independence is important for any characters growth at some point so having something pivotal like that be it’s driving point would be peak
