Great video! I've been studying Fiore recently, and I've been trying to figure out how to use that window guard of his (essentially the same thing as the Meyer key guard). Now, I have more drills to practice!
I’m a kenjutsu instructor and it’s interesting on how similar these techniques are. Aside from bigger stances and steps, they are almost identical. I suppose it makes sense that sword cultures would discover many of the same methods over the years. Great video!
HI JJ. Thanks for the praise. There are indeed many movements that will seem similar. I would theorize that this is likely because there are only so many strong structural positions for the body to assume to be efficient with a blade. Obviously there will be differences based on the design of the weapon. But There are definitely some similarities between the movements.

Thanks Blue. Always nice to hear praise. I want to emphasize one point though and its mainly a matter of preference. We are not a fan of using the term "Master" I understand that in many martial arts it is simply a title to denote the difference between teacher and student and is very apparent in many eastern styles but with HEMA it is important to note that there is no real lineage here that can be traced back. The only real master in my opinion is Joachim Meyer himself. We use the term "instructor" in place of this to denote that even our teachers are constantly learning and improving our skills. Even though I am an instructor, I am also a student. I am and always will be a student of the martial arts. As I make my students better so do I make myself better. I am not taking offense to the word. Just expressing the reasoning for my preference. Cheers and Thank you again for the response. and for being a subscriber. We love all of you

What Synthetic blades are those?
Those are purple heart armoury's type III pentti longsword 50". Link: www.woodenswords.com/Type_III_Pentti_Longsword_50_p/type-iii-50.gry.htm Theyve updated the cross guard to a design more similar to the black fencer synthetics so if you get one it wont be exactly the same but i prefer the new design.
If you check out the site they also sell a feder style, disk pommel style, messers, scottish broad sword synthetics, etc and various japqnese swords aswell. Ive got the disk pommel version of the pentti III myself. Main difference is the handle being a bit shorter so the balance moves a couple centimeters away from the hilt
What make/model is the (sharp?) sword in the beginning of the video ?
I think that's one of their ATrim swords. Angus Trim swords are all a little bit different.
Hi John. This is an Angus Trim blade. He operates out of Washington state and makes the Best swords you can find for the price. I highly encourage purchasing one. Bear in mind though that He does not have a website. He makes blades because he loves to do so. Best thing is to visit him. handle some of his stuff and then if you find something you love you can purchase it from him. cheers

It's interesting that you translate some of the positions (key, ox, long point), but you dont translate Tag (=day). Why is that?
