There is no eco friendly source of energy. Every source of energy comes with some form of eco damage with it. But solar and wind do less damage compared to oil, gas and coal. And yes I agree hydro energy is a disaster to local wildlife downstream. IMO the best option is nuclear energy provided the country is capable of disposing nuclear waste correctly (which India is)
