I'd love to know what Kurt Cobain would have thought of the works of this amazing artist. I don't know why but I sometimes get the same vibes I get when I listen to Nirvana's songs. They're all just sublime.
They have a similarly whimsical style of lyric writing. For both of them, it's like they're telling some sort of abstract, fantastical story with beautifully morbid themes. Also, the way they both sing seems both lazy and passionate at once, as well as impressive and empowering.
He would of married her, and America would eventually grown to hate her.

i don’t know how to explain this but the line “i wanna feel it” conveys so so much for me. it’s such a simple line, but the way she executes it… the evident pain and desperation in her voice, the song rhythm… it’s just… wow. mitski is a lyrical genius.

Stunning talent. My new favorite musical obsession...i LOVE this artist,& the band really makes her work come alive and jump right out of the camera ...cant wait to see her in Grand Rapids in July. I hope the sound man doesnt mix crappy live.. i've noticed a trend of going to concerts where female voices are drowned out, can't even hear them as a lead singer which should be THE main instrument at all times(metric,Best coast... it was awful. I even begged the sound guy to turn up the lead vocal when I went to see best coast). I don't think most lead singer females realize what it sounds like out there, I guarantee you Shirley Manson would not put ip with such shit, & I sure hope Mitski puts her foot down and makes sure she is THE lead!
I realize this comment comes long after your show, but may be worth consideration at another time...
I've found that placement in the venue can make a huge difference to the mix you get. If you spend time front/center - my favorite place to *see*, there's often a gap between the house PA arrays where the band's amps tend to over power the full (vocal) mix. It's worth moving around during opening acts to find the sonic/visual sweetspot. Hope you had a great experience where you were, regardless!
