Let's speak clearly. When in Spain-and the rest of Europe-they talk about excess of immigrants, they do not refer to Venezuelans, Poles or Chinese, they refer to Muslims, mainly from Africa. Not because of the color of their skin But because their religion and values are incompatible with those of European society. There is nothing more to debate.

There is one word which for me stands out in your comment, and it is the word "incompatible," and although I understand the full meaning of the word, it speaks to me of a human failing. On one side a refusal to allow difference, and on the other, a refusal to allow difference -- in other words, "My God is better than your god." Such childishness should cease.

I think we (in Europe) need to find out why the immigration is so vast. We know it's financial however I think it's time to educate and demand from the countries of highest emigration to sort their countries out. So that they have better conditions, so that people do not feel the need the emigrate.
I realise this is easier said than done however people do not move to a foreign country unless they have to.

Well pointed. All the information is there for you to read if you do some research. The main problem is overpopulation in the African continent. While the left wing of politics in Europe advocate for investigating the causes from the original countries by implementing representation in those countries the right wing of politics want to change the laws that help the migrants somehow. The problem is real and stoppable. Let's hope our leaders find a solution

The countries who have a future are the ones who have a union that results in ( large population and large territories - US , China , EU ) this gives them economy of scale which makes manufacturing and reasonable self sufficiently feasible ,,, if we look at the Mideast & North Africa they have it all they are awashed with money resources and strategic geography but the lack of a union while Islamist Maine political objective is to have a union the elites in this countries and the west don’t want a union without a union they will only get poor and without a local superpower that represent the majority they will only be dragged to more conflicts , Europe for example needed a superpower like the U.S. to bring peace to Europe they also needed a union to ensure that peace and a strong economy and market would be available for European,,, in short the MENA & Africa can have a better future if the elites in this countries are driven for the greater good of their people,,, in Europe you had strong distrust among European countries it was the U.S. the forced European to be part of the European Union by pressuring the elites . The IS wanted a union to counter Russia .

If these resources are not available then immigration cannot be considered or welcomed . Otherwise it leads to much greater problems which are evident in many countries.

Hola Stu, love the short intro vid you are using @SpainSpeaks. ¿Dónde se encuentra?
If I could add my 2 cents in the issue of dried up reservoirs and drought . I wouldn't be surprised if water mis_management (i.e Torrevieja de-salination plant) has also been a big contributing factor in the lack of water supplies you are seeing in certain regions. So crazy speculative ideas of reservoirs being drained purposefully cannot be ruled out - whomever might want to benefit... And speaking of environmental alarmists, no doubt Spain and other EU regions have seen experienced significant drought issues but if this year's storm systems may indicate - look out for flooding! I'm a bit skeptical if Madrid will become more like Marrakesh within the next 30 years as some environmental research groups suggest.

The reasons why politicians find it difficult to propose solutions to problems is because delivering bad news will not get you re-elected. To build desal, canals, tunnels, water reuse, and other infrastructure costs money which means raising taxes or raising water rates to pay for them. Courageous politicians have to be willing to fall on their swords to propose difficult solutions to voters. For example most of the politicians who proposed the healthcare improvements in the US were not re-elected.

Someone mentioned. A desalination plant .
    As far as I remember.
Desalination plants are very expensive to run .so the reason for not using the plant may be fairly clear!!!!

    • @pascal2955
      @pascal2955 7 месяцев назад

Desalination processes do require energy inputs much greater than natural occurences such as rainfall. But many other countries have used them successfully if managed properly and those energy resources allocated properly. Unfortunately, for different political reasons and idealogies, Spain must do a better job at finding better solutions. Ex: irrigation or building more reservoirs that can capture more water for certain areas without excessive evaporation, new research and improvements in desalination process such as the Chinese have recently demonstrated. The only issue with their findings is again, how to develope the ideas on a commercial scale. Seriously, if people like Elon can find investors to fulfill his dream of interplanetary travel to expand the reach of humans, i'm sure we Europeans can find the resources ($ and brain power) to fix what seems to be the most abundant resource on earth!
En cualquier caso, estoy seguro de que dentro de unos años este problema del agua quedará atrás y caeremos en la siguiente crisis del día, como siempre.

We have inactive desalination plants in the US. The reason is cost. Water from reservoirs, y imported water (water in California can come from over 400 miles away) and ground water wells are drastically cheaper. Desalination by reverse osmosis (RO) requires lots of electricity to run pumps to pull water through RO membranes. In the US the cost for RO is about $2000 per acre (1.2 million liters). If you look at your water bill this would require prices to go up astronomically. The cost of canals/tunnels from northern Spain would be billions for the ratepayers to pay, if the other autonomous communities allowed it. Conservation, capturing rainfall runoff or reusing treated water are easier and cheaper. There is no free lunch.

Unfortunately, many of the 'problems' caused by excessive perpetual immigration.
both legal & illegal, continues to be described as a 'race' issue, which ignores
the whole raft of serious problems such high volume immigration creates
for a nation. France & UK in particular are seriously suffering all manner of
social, cultural, economic & political problems directly caused by constant
and largely unchecked immigration, for which there are no rational solutions to.
The 'race' element only becomes an actual issue when these unchecked constant
numbers reach proportions that directly & negatively impact on the daily
lives of the native population to such a degree, that hatred & frustration builds to a
point at which the emotional/irrational anger begins to introduce 'racial'
    attitudes! Hardly surprising!
For example: the main city centres of population in the likes of London
and Birmingham in UK in 2023 now contain only 40% of Brits! Some
academics in UK have said that by 2040, British natives will be a minority
of the country's population! If that doesn't ring any bells,
(except for the virtue sigallers) nothing will!

Yet Spain has not witnessed the same level of outrage and alarmist anti-immigration rhetoric we see in the UK, where politicians across the political spectrum and even journalists embrace the slogan “stop the boats’’ as a casual way to speak about desperate people trying to escape hardship. Unlike in the UK, in Spain net migration numbers are usually reported not as a negative, but as a welcome source of growth in a country with an ageing population.

The economy has of course always been an issue, and over the last few years, the political corruption / greed and basic lack of ethics and respect for it citizens, is something I have seen as an evergrowing problem in this Country. The way which Spain treats its people is nothing short of disgusting - it is simply that its people are so used to it over the years they have become docile and accepting of this way of life.
Many have stated that Spain is going the same way as Venezuela.

@@thesocialmediascientistmbe Thanks for sharing that. Yes, I'm not going to Spain for a job so that means I'm outside of one large area of chaos. Is there anyone you'd read to learn more about these issues? Are there particular ways these might affect me as long-term visitor? The USA, where I live, is really crazy now, so I'm having trouble imagining a place with an even weirder population. It's not just the political divide here, it's that the people have become at the individual level very neurotic, complaining, upset, and angry. Not everyone, obviously, but I'd say at least 50% of us have become a bit mentally ill almost.

Stu... IV mentioned the immigration problem in Spain many times on this channel but nobody listens... Zero immigration is the only way forward for Spain and the UK.... Immigration will only cause more problems..If you are coming from a 3rd world country to live in Spain what can they possibly offer Spain..when the English spend time in Spain they bring MONEY with them and add to the Spanish economy.. A no brainer really.. But what do I know I'm just an Englishman living in wonderful Spain....Tony cuenca

There are horrific habits on display in Spain when people are ill... Many people don't even put the crook of their arm or even their hand over their mouths when sneezing or coughing let alone wearing a mask. I observe people in supermarkets around open food doing this, it's foul.
I think there is a general problem in the winter with blasting heat in shops and homes when outside is cold, rapid temperature changes are a fast track way to make yourself sick.

It's winter. Always the same as anyone working in the NHS could tell you. It's just nowadays they emphasise it relentlessly as a nudge to keep us all scared and grateful for what they do "to protect us".
