I have to tell you a funny story. When I was about eight and my brother was about four daddy came home from work and was complaining about how bad we looked and how bad mother looked. She had had a really bad day. The next day she got us all dressed up in our Easter clothes and had a sitting at the table with her hands together and she was standing at the stove cooking in a strapless evening gown. When daddy came in he Died laughing and we all had a good memory. I am 75 years old now and I still remember that. Love in Christ
Wise words of wisdom, but I must admit I had to laugh today. My husband is dropping trees and asked me to help today. So, my wifely attire was old jeans loose tshirt and large hat. Afterwards he thanked me for my help and said he loves how hard I work. When done I got cleaned up and put on my dress and he said I was so pretty. I am 60. Young wives may you never forget how much he appreciates your femininity in all its forms.
I completely understand this. I run our every day work on our homestead/farm. So overalls and a tank top are my morning attire but this evening we are going out to dinner and I love putting on a dress he loves❤️🍄 My heart has been to teach women to not lose their femininity. Bring a woman can be about being strong and hard working but also a gentle guidance😊
Different jobs require different garments and there is no shame in that. A woman who has strength and doesn't eat the bread of idleness is beautiful. I love that you helped him 🌹
I like what Blanche Ebbutt said in her little book from 1913 "Don'ts for wives ": "Don't allow yourself to get into the habit of dressing carelessly when there is 'only' your husband to see you. Depend upon it he has no use for faded tea-gowns and badly dressed hair, and he abhors the sight of curling pins as much as other men do. He is a man after all, and if his wife does not take the trouble to charm him, there are plenty of other women who will. "
Beautiful dress! Thanks for another great video. My husband once mentioned that one of my dresses was shorter than I usually wear. He didn't seem bothered and it certainly wasn't inappropriate, as I've always dressed pretty modestly. After that I chose to keep it as a house dress but was mindful not to wear it to work, as I worked with all men at the time and didn't want them thinking the same.
Beautiful dress Nikki! I love lace dresses. I tend to prefer budget pieces as my style and preferences change but I’m not opposed to spending a little more on a dress that I really love. I agree with your points on not letting yourself go. My husband and I discuss that all the time. I take his opinions into consideration. 💖
Thank you so so much for this video! This was beautifully put. I was so refreshed in hearing a lady speak openly about respecting her husband's desires to not let every man get to see what only he should see. But also wanting to be that beautiful woman he first fell in love with for when he comes home. Beautiful!🙏🏻💞🥰And love the lace on that dress.
I rarely bought anything new for almost 20 years. I was always blessed to find nice, second hand pieces that served us well. Some requied minor sewing skills but nothing i couldn't handle. Desiring to dress in late Edwardian, early titan style, i started with second hand skirts and blouses to wear for everyday while i perfected my going out dresses ... Now i make all of my dresses and i see a lot of women in my small town who are dressing up in dresses to grab groceries or run tot he eye doctor and it is SO refreshing!!!
I enjoyed your insights about budget dresses. I would also add that it is easy to overspend on "high quality" garments because something may seem "timeless", or you believe you will have it "forever". That is simply not true. Bodies change, lifestyles can change, tastes can change, and besides, no material thing lasts "forever". I purchased expensive (to me) clothing and then life happened! It was so hard to part with those items when they no longer served their purpose because I had spent so much. Those clothes kind of owned me in a way, and I don't want to be ruled by the things of this world! You look beautiful, as always, Nikki!
I agree with a woman taking her husband’s likes into account concerning her clothes. Many years ago I worked in a department store in the ladies’ clothing department and would occasionally assist women in the fitting rooms. Some of my coworkers would snicker because many customers would choose dresses that they thought their husbands would like. I agreed with the customers!
Dressing in dresses every day now has made me excited to show my husband how I look. And I just feel much better about myself which gives me more confidence. He says I look beautiful ❤
The last two I purchased, I didn't really care for. I may share them eventually but I share more based off the idea of finding dresses that will suite each lady, not so much trying to convince to purchase certain ones.
Hi Nikki. This dress is absolutely gorgeous. It could even be used for a civil marriage or a simple wedding or to renew vows. I love it. Thank you always for the inspiration. Blessings and lots of love❤😍💐
I loved the discussion in this episode! Consistently presenting the best version of myself on a daily basis tells my husband how much I respect him and love him. Whenever I show my husband respect it translates in his brain as love. When I was dating my husband I endeavored to be the best version of myself. This was a normal and consistent vision I gave my husband. Why should this change after I married him? There are many women outside the walls of my home who will be attracted to my husband's confidence and self-assured manner. That exists because I feed him everyday with reasons to feel that way. Many will criticize we Christian women for being tied down with the constraints of modesty but your husband will feel your love when you reserve certain areas of yourself for him. What a beautiful statement when we speak respect, consistency, and love through our efforts each day. I look forward to your next installment of "A Dress a Day". 💖
That dress is so pretty! I was getting ready for the day and had jeans and at shirt on while watching this video. I changed into a long dress and my husband loved it! We danced 8n the kitchen. We work from home together in our family business and homeschool together. Lovely video. ❤
I agree with maintaining yourself for your husband, it is important to keep the spark alive in the marriage! Also it just makes you more confident with yourself. Thanks Nikki great ideas!
Hi Nikki, That is a lovely Lace dress and your hair is amazing in that 40's vintage style. I agree with all your key points and practice them now more than ever thanks to you. The body is the Temple of the Lord and that to me says it all. Keep shining your light Nikki ☀️
It's lace, scalloped, soft white and A line. ❤ Whether something is 10 dollars or 100 I look for something that checks more of my boxes. Sometimes the expensive stuff doesn't. Especially if you prefer more romantic stuff. I find the higher end "investment pieces" to lean too classic and boxy for me personally.
Nikki, this video was spot on! I wish more women realized the power have over men and the responsibility that comes with that! We as Christian women have to consider that we may cause a brother in the Lord to stumble. Lord forbid! But in this culture everything is sexualized, and we, God's daughters, need to set a standard of modesty, hoping to be light in this dark world. Thank you for shining your light.
I used to have to wear pants for work. But since my husband made it possible for me to stay home with the kids I've been wearing dresses everyday. I make myself ready for many reasons and pleasing my husband is for sure one of them. He does notice that I make an effort daily.
I've seen those comments online about the "cheaper dresses" and I always thought it was so silly. If I buy a dress for $20 it's easier for me to enjoy life in it rather than worry about ruining a $100 dress. I'm not as worried about it getting dirty when I'm cleaning or being outside, I'm wearing them often because I'm not as worried about them wearing out. I agree it's important to have both for these reasons!
Nikki, you are a beautiful lady, inside and out. I absolutely love your hair. I'm growing out bangs and want to have a similar style to yours. What is your secret for keeping the hair on the side from falling in your face? 😊
Thank you so much for saying that, Marcia! I have been using hot rollers for a hairstyle like this and it gives it some volume plus a good finishing spray 🌹
Beautiful dress, Nikki. It compliments you. There was a time when I spent money on investment clothing. It was good quality and lasted years. None of the fast fashion. Sadly, while charging the same price, the quality of the fabrics and workmanship has decreased over time. Your words on dressing nicely for your husband ( and yourself), ring true. There was a song in the 60’s about wives being lovers, too. It suggested that when the husband was coming home, “comb your hair, fix your make up “ and greet your husband at the door. It told of there being girls at the office…….. It was women’s lib time and the song caused a ruckus. I thought that it was true. Don’t take relationships for granted. They need to be nurtured. Men are visual creatures. Temptation is everywhere. Be honored that he chose you and that he comes home to you. Society has gone excessively casual., on many levels. Looking and being your best is no longer in style. Be different. Stand out for positive and uplifting reasons. Be a light in the world. God’s design works. If people would stop thinking that they can do it better. Look at society. Haven’t we done a great job in playing God? Let’s honor God and be the women that He created us to be. It’s hard work at times. But ,oh, the rewards. Thank you , Nikki for gently guiding women and showing them the joy and dignity of being a homemaker. Wonderful quote: “Home isn’t a place, It’s a feeling.” Unknown Best wishes
I love todays dress on you. I have a light blue lace dress. I wore it to a wedding and received so many compliments. I wear a lot of cotton lace dresses and tops in the summer. All snow melted whoooo Hoooo
Hi Nikki the lace dress is very pretty. I think lace is so feminine. Thanks for the chat, it's always nice to look good. Great advice. You look gorgeous in the dress as well. Thanks Nikki really enjoying these videos. ❤❤
When I wear something my husband likes he usually says something. I can get a bit frumpy at times. He doesn’t say anything about that. I keep it in mind. He dresses more casually than I do. I don’t use much makeup at home.
Unfortunately I have no such memories from my own mother, as she decided to leave us when I was only two, and when I saw her later in life, she wore jeans and hoodies, and PJs at home My paternal grandmother on the other dressed immaculately, and I still have one of the dresses she made, as she was a seamstress. White with red polka dots ❤
That dress is beautiful Nikki! I love anything with lace. I am always changing my wardrobe and find myself needing change quite frequently. Sending love 💗
As the Bible says love your wife as Christ loved the church❤ as a Christian lady we should always dress like one that's what's important if you're married dating someone or whatever the case may be It's always important
For being a Christian? I think God is clear on His dress code throughout the Bible. Women are told to adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control. That we are not to be conformed to this world and the like. To be in subjection to our husbands. I am part of Christ's church, the church of Christ. Much of our dress code deals with the conscience, the heart.
Hi Nikki, I'm curious to how you feel if it was opposite. Like your husbad rarely put effort into his appearance even on weekends. I enjoy dressing up on weekends and expanding my look. It's difficult because I am the one coming home from work wearing my scrubs. I only work part time. He is on social security so he does still provide financially but does not currently work. He deals with chronic pain daily from a bulging disc's in his back. This has been years. He is capable of a lot still. I feel as though in a woman's eyes at least cleaning up some of the house would be equivalentto dressing up ( I don't expect him to be wearing a suit and tie when I get home and would rather the house be nice looking than him, but it rarely happens) I'm not expecting you to "fix" my problems .I just want you to know there are women who enjoy watching your videos but who do not share the same ideal relationship dynamic or situation. I have the motivation to dress nice simply for myself. I have tried positive reinforcements saying you look nice when he does. I am genuinely curious how you would feel or would it bother you to see little effort as far as appearance from your husband?
You know, it always feels nice when you see someone make an effort doesn't it? I really think that's the point I'm trying to convey regardless of our situation because the only person we can control is ourself. We can win over our husband without a word, just by our daily actions, how we treat them. That's not to say we will be completely satisfied but it's good to know we have done all we can do. It may rub off, it may not. I think it's perfectly acceptable to express our feelings, especially with those things that bother us as a good marriage is considerate of one another but it's still up to the individual to make any changes they wish to. Realize this too, nobody has all things ideal, no matter what something may appear to be. I hope this helps 🌹

Haha I love that you all got a laugh out of it!
❤❤❤ I love it. My littles would always ask for fancy nights for dinner😂
I was laughing pretty hard at your story! I love how she made the situation light hearted🌹
I love how she made an effort to please and joked about it, making a good memory, instead of taking offense or just crying and complaining.

All of your dresses are beautiful, but this one is really special, looks like vintage romantic wedding dress 🤗
Thank you! I feel it has that as well, I love the detail🌹

PURE GOLD!
Much more attractive to conceal than reveal.
Absolutely 🌹
The dress is lovely and looks amazing on you.
