Any comments about certain nationalities are made in jest. At this lecture there were many Persian attendees who regularly attend. You are very right about other factors that influence one's character such as the Ascendant. If you hear the Introduction, and the other lectures on Astrology there is mention of those influences, which also explains why people sharing the same sign may still be very different in some key areas. In a one hour lecture it is difficult to cover all aspects of Astrology.

I had a Leo boyfriend for a long time. In the overall scheme of things I love him and love him still. We had a wonderful relationship especially physically. But being able to look at it objectively now, I would never enter in to a relationship with a Leo now. It was also not a “easy” relationship.

It is true we like to look good and wear nice clothes, but, I do not buy it because it's expensive, I'm doing it because of it's quality. That is what makes it expensive. I do not keep price tag on my clothes just to show how much I've spent on it. I also dont mind spending more money than average, on my wife's good quality clothes. I don't mind being rude and abrasive to other people. Particularly to those, that show no respect to me or my family. (I could give some graphic examples of that to back up my claim). I'm polite and respectful to everyone else. It's because I want to show to the first ones that I don't take their crap and they can not itimidate me, and to show the respect to the rest, because it builds my dignity. I am an introvert, I do not ever take credit for other people's work, I do not like being the center of attention and I am not flashy nor do I dress expensive and I'm hardly glamorous. I didnt hear you mention how encouraging we are, the way we continue to look for the good in others and how creative we are. What I did hear was much of the stereotypical description of what leo's are. This Leo feels disrespected by the lack of depth this entire speech has been.

Sagittarius Rising, although a Fire element, is different from Leo in many ways, which is why Rabbi Kin advises to listen to the lecture on one's Rising Sign. All you have to do is ask nicely. You must be a real Leo or a Gemini. Astrology of character is completely permissible and acceptable in Judaism. What you are referring to is the Astrology that deals with fate and destiny - which is a totally different subject which the Torah says a Jew should stay away from. You can listen to other lectures by Rabbi Kin, especially about "Mazal" where he clarifies this. And yes, much of what he is quoting is from Linda Goodman's excellent book Sun Signs.
It is a shame that Linda Goodman receives no credit for her imaginative heartfelt expressions and sentiments that are being read word for word in the better parts of this oration, surely it is not permissible to exclude her name and authorship from these tutorials which are not simply borrowing from the works of Linda Goodman, they literally are the work of Linda Goodman. I am sure she would be turning in her grave at this plagiarism. I wouldn't be too sure that the scriptures would include any form of astrology in any form of acceptable worship

This series on Astrology is not about Plagiarism. Rabbi Kin has lectured on Astrology for over thirty years and quoted from many sources. He has said clearly that for descriptions of the Signs he prefers the real life examples Linda uses. In this series, however, he "also" includes additional information from Judaic sources, as well as his own personal experience.

My mom was Leo, although I loved her to death and still wish I had her, I am 73 today and she passed in 1983, realize that she was kind of controlling. She was also negative, didn't think that well about future in artistic careers. I am a born artist. She tried to discourage me from becoming an artist. I regret that attitude. But besides that she was a hard worker, good with her children, but not tolerant. She just loved her children because they were her children. She liked to keep a good image of herself and her family, even if not true. I was young and naive. She could be very violent. My Dad was Aquarius, not a good match, a love, hate relationship because she never understood my Dad. I believe that's the reason my family was dysfunctional. My siblings were mostly all the signs in the horoscope and I was the misunderstood one. The youngest of 7, was loved by them on their own terms, I always felt caged in, now I am free from all of them.

You are using the Greek Astrology which does not make sense being Jewish. There is a Jewish Astrology using the 12 sons of Yakov for 12 months of the year. If you are using Greek Astrology, you have to take into account the planets and asteroids. Leo is as you explain only if your 'Sun' sign is in your first house. If the 'Sun' and other major planets are not in your 1st house, then what you explained about the Leo is completely different. If the major planets are in the 12th house, then Leo will be quite different than what you are talking about.

Yes, much credit has been given to Linda. You can check my response to you on Gemini. The reason he uses her examples is because from his experience he believes she does the best job. So, as you can tell, he quotes from her in "describing" some features of the Signs. Rabbi Kin has researched Astrology for many years and decided to clarify some of the points where Judaism differs from traditional Astrology. There is nothing wrong in quoting other Astrologer's excellent and precise description of the Signs.

Many of the weaknesses in character that these lectures present are not present in every Sign, but potentially can exist in the weak ones. That was the purpose of this series, to describe as best as possible the general nature of the Signs, with their strengths and weaknesses, and show from a Jewish perspective how one can overcome them.

I would find it more credible if there were not so many nasty asides about Iranian people. Why would you believe anyone claiming to enhance the good qualities of one's personality, of any given sign, while they still think it's okay to be unthinkingly racist. Many things need to be corrected here, cos I think he talks based on just experience, his circle, community and the country he is in. Any comments about certain nationalities are made in jest. At this lecture there were many Persian attendees who regularly attend. You are very right about other factors that influence one's character such as the Ascendant. If you hear the Introduction, and the other lectures on Astrology there is mention of those influences, which also explains why people sharing the same sign may still be very different in some key areas. In a one hour lecture it is difficult to cover all aspects of Astrology.

Mostly Sun Sign and partially Ascendant (Rising Sign). The Moon gives the Temperament. So only some of the Leo qualities will apply in their respective areas.

All you have to do is ask nicely. You must be a real Leo or a Gemini. Astrology of character is completely permissible and acceptable in Judaism. What you are referring to is the Astrology that deals with fate and destiny - which is a totally different subject which the Torah says a Jew should stay away from. You can listen to other lectures by Rabbi Kin, especially about "Mazal" where he clarifies this. And yes, much of what he is quoting is from Linda Goodman's excellent book Sun Signs.
It is a shame that Linda Goodman receives no credit for her imaginative heartfelt expressions and sentiments that are being read word for word in the better parts of this oration, surely it is not permissible to exclude her name and authorship from these tutorials which are not simply borrowing from the works of Linda Goodman, they literally are the work of Linda Goodman. I am sure she would be turning in her grave at this plagiarism. I wouldn't be too sure that the scriptures would include any form of astrology in any form of acceptable worship
You don't seem to read all the replies to your comments. Rabbi Kin has given credit "numerous times" to Linda Goodman and even recommends her book "Sun Signs." This series on Astrology is not about Plagiarism. Rabbi Kin has lectured on Astrology for over thirty years and quoted from many sources. He has said clearly that for descriptions of the Signs he prefers the real life examples Linda uses. In this series, however, he "also" includes additional information from Judaic sources, as well as his own personal experience.

This rabbi is very biased. The way he is describing Leo almost comes from a very personal place. Leo is ruled by the Sun and most astrologist and occultist connect the sign of Leo to goodness and life,while this rabbi is spewing straight hatred and everything foul and negative on Leos. That's almost a dangerous type of generalization.
Listen to the whole lecture. There is no bias. Rabbi Kin brings out the strengths and weaknesses of every sign.

My mom was Leo, although I loved her to death and still wish I had her, I am 73 today and she passed in 1983, realize that she was kind of controlling. She was also negative, didn't think that well about future in artistic careers. I am a born artist. She tried to discourage me from becoming an artist. I regret that attitude. But besides that she was a hard worker, good with her children, but not tolerant. She just loved her children because they were her children. She liked to keep a good image of herself and her family, even if not true. I was young and naive. She could be very violent. My Dad was Aquarius, not a good match, a love, hate relationship because she never understood my Dad. I believe that's the reason my family was dysfunctional. My siblings were mostly all the signs in the horoscope and I was the misunderstood one. The youngest of 7, was loved by them on their own terms, I always felt caged in, now I am free from all of them.

You are using the Greek Astrology which does not make sense being Jewish. There is a Jewish Astrology using the 12 sons of Yakov for 12 months of the year. If you are using Greek Astrology, you have to take into account the planets and asteroids. Leo is as you explain only if your 'Sun' sign is in your first house. If the 'Sun' and other major planets are not in your 1st house, then what you explained about the Leo is completely different. If the major planets are in the 12th house, then Leo will be quite different than what you are talking about.
Astrology is all about reading energy & he’s teaching you how to read the energy of each of all 12 flavors all the signs. This is really old information taken from Linda Goodman's Sun Signs written some decades ago, among her other books is Love Signs - I would like to know if the credit for this is going rightfully to the late Linda Goodman who is the author - it is being read word for word - apart from some asides which are the less eloquent, repetitive and almost struggling parts of this tutorial. Outright plagiarism!
Yes, much credit has been given to Linda. You can check my response to you on Gemini. The reason he uses her examples is because from his experience he believes she does the best job. So, as you can tell, he quotes from her in "describing" some features of the Signs. Rabbi Kin has researched Astrology for many years and decided to clarify some of the points where Judaism differs from traditional Astrology. There is nothing wrong in quoting other Astrologer's excellent and precise description of the Signs.

I would find it more credible if there were not so many nasty asides about Iranian people. Why would you believe anyone claiming to enhance the good qualities of one's personality, of any given sign, while they still think it's okay to be unthinkingly racist. Plus there are a lot of generalities, no suggestion of the balance between star sign, rising sign and moon sign. I like the intention behind the talks but it is polluted by objectionable comments. Plus he never says what sign he is himself.

one of my biggest gripes is Christians thinking the old testament does not matter when it does its the only reason i know the mercy of God in Christ ad what he will do when he returns to judge the world Jesus is summed up in the psalms and the prophets and its not all nicey nicey he is God and will judge the world as such when its time. he came in the spirit of john the Baptist Elijah and mosses repent Manasseh and Ephraim before the time comes .
