    Instead of 4.2 quarts, the amount is actually 4 liters. So, if you buy a 5 gallon jug and it has both quart and liter measures on the side...

      I love mine. The only complaint I have is that the engine is so small, there is zero engine braking when going down hill. If you shift down, the engine races, but provides NO braking.

    Great video just purchased a 1.4 simple for fuel safe and low oil use. although I don't see the purpose on shopping around for oil since its cheap to begin with just takes time out, filter on ie other hand understand.

    Good job, I've got a 24 Trax I changed the oil recently. I hate going to the dealer they always over torque the drain plug.

      I had a 19 Trax and the drain plug was stripped out because it was so tight

  • @Cherickllc

    I worked as a Fleet mechanic, and did many first-time oil changes on new cars. I believe that the filter is tight, because the gasket is not oiled at the factory. Oiling the filter gasket is a must if you don't want the filter to weld itself on.

    Where do you place the jack stands? There is the area near the rocker panel referenced in the owners manual for tire change and there is a place that is round where it says you can attach tow hooks.

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  7 месяцев назад +1

      I used the scissor jack at the rocker panel location & the jack stands where the steering cradle meets the frame. There are large 20mm bolts as reference. That's a safe location.

    The 2013 Chevy Cruze had a 10 ftlb oil plug torque spec. I am 100% sure of that. I bet the same torque for this engine. Dealer technician (mr. Goodwrench) told me 14 ftlb, but it's 14 newton meters or 10ftlb. They were 40% over...

    When you can’t tell a 15 from a 13 it’s the first step to a cane and a dog. Saw this car at the Autoshow. They wouldn’t let you sit in it. The seats seem small. I’m a little bigger than you. Any thoughts? Good video, thanks.

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  7 месяцев назад

      The seats are definitely narrow for a SUV/crossover. They are perfect for myself. I would definitely sit in one first. I believe the Trax has the same size seat for reference. They are incredibly comfortable though

      @@VetOnVettes thanks. It was funny at the show. Here was a substantial car for $27k that every one ignored. It was parked next to a Hummer EV but still. It’s funny we both like it after vettes. I will find one and sit in it. Just test drove a model y. Think I’m going to sell Teslas.

    I'll be honest, I have really appreciated all the time you have taken to make these videos about the Envista. I will be looking forward to the 6 month and 1 year updates on this vehicle since I am considering it. My two biggest concerns are life expectancy of the engine and the overall power to merge into highway traffic. Also, I may have missed it but, at how many miles did you do this oil change at?

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  7 месяцев назад

      I did the oil change right at 7400. It is required by 7500. I would have done it @ 5k, however time constraints & our road trip did not allow that.

    • @shane3878
      @shane3878 6 месяцев назад +1

      I agree with other comments. Please keep us updated for the next year because I am also a bit interested in this car. Same concerns though….teenie weenie engine and its reliability and durability. Can’t believe GM put an oil timing belt in the engine. When do you change that and I hear it is expensive ? Love the look of this car but still very cautious….I am a Honda guy that has put well over 100,000 miles on my cars with absolutely 0 problems ( with maintenance) so my standards are high. But honda prices are ridiculous!!!! Great vids and thanks !!!!!4

    • @shane3878
      @shane3878 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@allanpontiere6177 It's a south korean engine. Didn't Honda's have an internal belt that had to be changed @ 100K miles?

    • @allanpontiere6177
      @allanpontiere6177 5 месяцев назад

      Yes the older Honda’s had a belt. Now they are a timing chain. At least the car I have now is. I changed my belt in my 04 civic at 100,000 miles. It is pricey to do that job. At that time it was over 400. Who knows what it is now!!!With that 3 banger I read on a review that it needed to be changed between 40-50 k. That means you most likely will do it twice but I am looking for some advice on that. The problem is we will not know for a year or two because it is a brand new car. I think it might be a good idea to wait on this car just to see if there are any major foibles. After all it is GM. 😮Great looking car I must say !!!

      Oil looked fine for 7500 miles. No shavings or debris found in the filter either. I meant to do the first change around 4k however, my wife has been driving it A LOT.

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah I was unable to find a book torque spec. The average drain plug is around 12-15ftlbs so I tightened it down to 12lbs. It was not very tight taking it off. No leaks a month later.

      Dealer does do the first for free (they should). I wanted to get this out for educational purposes. Secondly, I never let the dealership touch any of my cars outside of warranty items. Also, it takes 10 minutes versus setting up an appointment and wasting a whole morning. 🤷🏼‍♂️
