I have to admit... as much as I hate Ren and Akito, the part where Shigure and the latter kissed as he pulled her necktie away was really intense....

When I read the manga years ago, this was such a shocking moment. I never thought I would have the chance to see it animated. I also found it interesting seeing new viewers' reactions to this, and to Shigure in general --- especially those who watched the original anime. The 2001 version of Fruits Basket was actually pretty accurate to the manga for the most part aside from the weird ending they tacked on. But one very notable difference is that Shigure and Akito are like two totally different characters, since the creators didn't realize where the story was headed at the time. The goofy, mostly good-natured if a little creepy at times Shigure from the original anime is a far cry from the calculating and selfish Shigure from the manga.
i just love Akito so much😭 best written female character ever existed. I also really love this scene it shows how they r devoted to each other after all that years.
Colleen gave a great performance as Akito. She always steals the show.

For me the worst character is kureno I hate him. In the manga and the anime all them say he is too kind and show times where he is kind but is like “he is kind he is kind he is kind …..like a mental compulsion to the readers”and as a matter of fact people say say he is kind but for me he is the worst and his actions prove that . How could he slept with akito ???have sex with her? He was no a zodiac he could say no even if he was but he knew the feelings between akito and shigure he knew she did not ask to sleep with him for love he was an adult compared to to akito who was so young and unstable . The truth kureno was a selfish person who thought of his needs first -> he needed to be needed , he had feelings for akito he felt her kisses he liked to be needed by her and he slept with her because he was aroused he did not care to hurt shigure who he admired or akito and how wrong was sleep with her when she is not in her right mind he took advantage of her insecurities to fill the void in his heart to be needed he realize his mistake after he realized akito would never loved him he wish for it at some point but all was destroyed and he did not do anything to stop it he just keep going ! What pathetic adult!!!! More than kind he is a selfish pathetic needy person the kind of kindness who hurt everyone and more the person you want protect is not kindness !!!!! For me he took advantage of akito to fill the void in his heart making akito be the bad one when he was the real villain (because akito was a hurt person mentally unstable) . He did not protect anyone he made too many mistakes . But in the anime they want people think he is kind that they repeat that word constantly any reader should judge the actions and be objective no just because they say he is this he is this means he really is what they say and his actions are what they say ………….

@@lorrietsaoussis5168no she has always been a girl. i mean the original version is always what its written as in the manga. i guess you confused it with the 2001 series. Akito only was a boy in that adaption they changed her gender but that series had lots of differences with the manga too. (not sure but i guess it was due to economic reasons to avoid extending the number of the eps) it already had 26 eps
