I’ve been watching Guatemala videos for a while and have found it to be an interesting country - your videos though - turned it into something fascinating that I now know I will see in person.
You’re a cinematographer and an asset to any country you are a tourist in.

Lol i don't think that's what she actually said. Pretty sure the translation on video is wrong. E.g she said "Tienes que aprender espanol" which means you have to learn Spanish she didn't say "Stupid tourist...".

was it too crowded/busy that you can’t go anywhere else? we are planning to go next year as spring break coincides with semana santa but not sure with the crowds?

Getting around was easy. Not too crowded at all. I was just short on time.

It is indeed a stunning place, but my sore legs might disagree with you on the 'little town' part. It is no small place. More of a proper city, as my sore legs can attest. HA!😉

i tried to google this myself but....why do some of the mens clothes in the celebration (in the beginning) look like they are from the middle east? Is there some kind of historical influence? I'd love to know the reasoning for this as i did not think there was generally any contact between these cultures

I have no idea, but you're right. There are similarities.

The dress is Paslestine, it is used for Lent and Holy Week celebrations in Guatemala. It is simply an adaptation of clothing to remember the passion and resurrection of Christ. greetings!

According to Wikipedia predominant religion in Guatemala are Protestants, majority of them belong to Evangelical, and this religion keep growing faster replacing Catholicism, so we will never see this type of celebration like this in near future in Guatemala, Protestants hate such thing associated with Catholics.
