For real lol. I found another "Beginner" Tutorial, and 5 minutes in we were playing a 4 chord progression with the right hand and supplemental bass notes with the left... I may or may not have turned that video off and cried lmao
I just purchased a digital piano tonight. I can't wait to get started. I've always wanted to play piano but have always been intimidated by my three son's. They were classically trained and my eldest was quite exceptional. Now at 73 it is my turn. Also, they are on their own now so they will find out when I get farther along. Thanks for this program. At some point I'm sure I'll sign up for your monthly course. Starting free is great. Thank you.
Curious how it's going?... I'm 37 and starting today... I have this dumb idea in my head that I should just be able to sit at a piano and somehow be a master without learning or practicing...
This is invaluable. I've only been playing for two weeks, and after only 20 minutes I was playing amazing grace at 100 bpm! You are a great teacher. Thank you!
Your piano course is so helpful. I am really so glad that I bumped into this. This is the best piano course I’ve come across with for beginners like me.
@@PianoRoadmap That's true, you're an excellent piano teacher. I love your lesson 1 and 2, now I'll do the others. I took a few lessons with some teachers but you are the best compared to them.
I remember when I was being taught piano, i was taught how to play this and that but never really taught the things you are teaching here which help greatly. Thankyou so so much, you teach lovely❤
You know, as a video editor myself, I'm really impressed on how this whole free tutorial was edited, must have taken a large amount of time for you to do this, thank you! 😊
Self taught myself piano lessons, and I am so grateful to find your channel. Been doing a lot of research on RUclips, but having you teaching how to read music sheets is the next level of online teaching. Thank you so much for your love and efforts to put out these lessons. ❤
I'm really grateful for the assignments, it has given me the structure I have been lacking in my practice, and is jogging my memory of old lost habits from school. Thank you so much!
I have to thank you for your incredibly valuable lessons. your voice is so tender and soft that makes the lessons even more enjoyable. greetings from Brazil😊
The best piano lessons ever just started my journey with it thnk u soo much for the lessons in a structured way. It's a paradigm for beginners like me. Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳❤❤
Late to these lessons but just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to teach us! I’m on lesson two and can truly say it’s pretty easy to follow your instructions 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I learned up to grade 8 as a child... then stopped playing for about 25 years. But you're right, even though I technically know most of this stuff, there's lots I'm finding useful by going back to the beginning. Very useful, meditative exercises.
I thought I had a full set keyboard lol it was a 32 key keyboard not realizing the real piano is an 88 hahaha I continue the lessons for as long as I can before all 88 keys are used
Thank you, thank you! I've neen struggling to get my head around playing on tempo and keeping count but something about how you explained it clicked! I'm not playing a GOOD rendition of Amazing Grace but at least its now recognisable as Amazing Grace. It's a start!
If you would have told me I could play the melody of Amazing Grace before I watched this video, I would have laughed at you and told you I had a bridge to sell you... Thank you!
Completely normal! I sometimes take months and months to learn a piece, and then I revisit it years down the road and take more months to go deeper. It's always an ongoing, lifelong process. 😃
I Really like your lessons! They are challenging and fun at the same time...also helping me to start realizing what's behind the music, I'm usted to hear everyday. I do have a question: you mentioned that the top Number on a 4/4 is related to the beat, so...What does the number of the bottom makes reference to?
Great question! The bottom number tells us that the quarter note gets 1 beat. In other time signatures that we'll get to later, like 6/8 time, the quarter note will get TWO beats. It's a little confusing at first, but the bottom number is basically giving the WHOLE value. So in 4/4 time, the whole note value is 4. So by doing a little math, we can see that the HALF note will get 2 (half of 4), and the QUARTER note will get 1 (a quarter of 4). In 6/8 time, the WHOLE value is 8. So a half note gets 4 beats and a quarter gets 2. Hope this helps, and thanks for your question!
Thank you so much for helping but I would like to ask you a request for the amazing Grace song, could you please make it with finger numbers instead of letters because I am bad at knowing where the letters are?
I wish I could hire you… you are who I e been looking for. I have hired teachers, they can play exceptionally well, however, maybe not the best teachers. I hope you’re still teaching.
I'm working hard on the Faber Follow-Along piano course, so nope, currently not teaching privately. Good luck finding a great teacher! They're definitely out there, but it can take a little searching.
Your first two videos are amazing! I'm just a little confused on the print out, how exactly do you "just memorize which hand to use" for the whole notes?
That's a good question. You can memorize which hand to use for the whole notes according to the hand position picture that I provided. For example, the 1st "C" whole note is played with the RH. There's no stem to tell you that it's a RH note, but the picture shows you that it's played with the RH. For notes that are in BOTH hands (like E and G), pick the hand that makes logical sense. Remember when a note is higher on the page, it's higher on the piano (to the right). When all else fails, use your ear. I hope that was helpful!
This was a "pandemic shutdown, I just need something for our temporary house brand" 😆 I'm honestly not sure, and I donated it to our neighbors when we moved. All I know is that it's a Russian piano maker with only 83 keys, rather than the full 88.
Hi there….where can I download the music sheet….I have not been able to get that both in lesson 1 and 2. Thank you so much….I do like the way you teach.
The links are in the description (you have to click "show more" to see it) but here is the link for lesson 2: drive.google.com/drive/folders/16oQ9qvtmGXgVUKyr4FnuEu3GJGoQM_N5?usp=sharing
If you download the assignment worksheet (link in description) and look on page 3, I have a picture of the hand position. This tells you what notes should be played with each hand.
Are you wondering how to find it on the keyboard? If that's your question, find middle C first (from the lowest end of the keyboard, count the 1st C as "1", and it will be the 4th up). The left-hand G (bass G) is to the left of middle C (lower), and the right-hand G (treble G) is to the right of middle c (up).
click on the "78k views" at the top. did you click on the google download link, right after the list of chapters in the video description? I had no problem.
You have to click "more" for the description box to expand and show you the description 😃 But here is the link: drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/16oQ9qvtmGXgVUKyr4FnuEu3GJGoQM_N5
Thank you for asking! RUclips has the "SuperThanks" button that is on the same line as the like and share buttons. Just be aware that I'm not active there so there's no content or extra lessons. Or you can donate via PayPal (pianoroadmap@gmail.com). Again, thanks so much!

If you download the assignment worksheet (link in description) and look on page 3, I have a picture of the hand position. This tells you what notes should be played with each hand.
