I just love the way you talk softly, slowly and with so much clarity! Feels like a meditation to watch your videos, they are so calming!! ✨ As a side effect, I am learning Piano Too 😅
Dear Susan: you are not only BEAUTI but EXTREMELY TANTED TEACHER AND MUSICIAN!!! YOU ARE helping me REALIZE MY DREAMS of playing piano and accompanying myself!!!!! thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!
I'm way past this level, but I'm watching this while I do my sun salutation. I've seen several of your videos and you impressed me with your style. I wished I had discovered your channel and had taken your Roadmap to start out. BTW one thing that has really helped my musicality, which was very underdeveloped. Hey, I joked for 65 years that I was born with two left ears. Choir teachers told me to move my lips and not make a sound for the 8 years of required singing classes. Last month I learned the Rule of the Octave, the 16th and 17th century method of teaching to harmonize a scale. They used to teach this to orphans in Napoli to train them to become Maestri. I'm even singing the parts of the scale (the tonic, third and fifth) as I play the scale and sing the changes. It's a great ear training exercise. Derek Remes has lots of free information on his website.
You are by-far one of the most underrated youtubers, you deserve millions of views and subscribers and I truly wish that for you because you make learning piano so clear and so easy. Thankyou❤
Thank you my favorite instructor for this lessons on interval's and 8va Bcs at some point I felt like giving up because of how boring is it try to learn it myself without any guid which makes it not interesting But with your lessons it makes it very interesting for me to learn it and it lift's up my enthusiasm to always want to learn so as to step up my musical ability to another level with the help of music theory/sight-reading so I will keep on pushing...
Thank you, Susan, for these lessons. Although I have played other instruments, I am a complete beginner on the piano and find your instruction very informative and helpful. Also, the encouragement you give is a great help. You've done a really good job with this course . . .
Love your instructions…clear, slowly enough to process, making your explanations easy to understand!! I feel so much more confident, inspired and motivated. I have had a difficult time with quickly recognizing intervals which slow throws off my rhythm.
Haii Susan! i wanna say that your RUclips channel very help my piano journey! you make an easier lesson for beginner like me!! I Appreciate ur hard work ^^ thank youu sm susan, have a nice day 😄🤗!
Thank you for this amazing lesson! You explain everything so clearly. After I heard you play the landmark landscape I felt so inspired that it encouraged me.
Its really nice to see standard score, as I am learning the base clef. It would be nice to see classical music on here too, but I do know that greedy soulless people have been getting classical music score removed off university web sites and so on. Claiming copy right on something they don't own is wrong, but they have managed to find a way. TY for your work, I have been enjoying following along.
You're a very good teacher. I'm brand new to piano and I am definitely considering taking your course.. not that I have $400 lying around, but maybe eventually. Thank you.
You can pick monthly payments too :) And I do a free giveaway every month (1 month free). You just have to watch the new videos that come out because I never know which one I'm going to offer the giveaway.
Susan I appreciate all that you have to offer to beginner Pianist. I look forward to sending a small gift offering to your You Tube Channel. We’re do I send it to Thank you

I was browsing for sheet 8th note sight reading instructions ,then came across this channel. There isn't much on the web on the topic of beamed 8ths and quarter note rhythm. Maybe you will include this in a future video tutorial. Your channel wake me up as it appeared while I was searching ,but mostly dozing through other music tutorials. Thank you for sharing.
I really appreciate the opportunity you are giving us to learn to play the piano properly. So far so good! However, I am having difficulty with the music accompanying the stepping, skipping exercise. It is a bit confusing and I'm not sure if it is just background music. I think I could follow a piano playing the notes.
Ugh... that octave skip always feels clunky :( Specifically: 1. I shorten the last B before the skip too much 2. I press F + G or G + A as the first higher note 3. I may get the first G by chance, but the finger that should go for the next C is not correctly positioned 4. I get tense in anticipation to the skip so I also jump from mezzo-piano to either forte or piano
It's a challenge! Couple of suggestions to try: 1) slow (and relaxed) practice from just the B up to the octave G. Repeat until comfortable, then add the G before the B (so G-B, jump up to G). Keep adding the notes before and after the leap, one by one. 2) Practice jumping from the G up to the G AND C (play them together as an interval). This should help your #3 issue. 3) You want your octave skip to feel very fluid, in one motion from the release of the B, almost like you're "painting" the keys with your finger tips as you move up. Kind of a strange analogy, especially without a demo, but that's how I feel it. Hope these help!
Thank you very much! Your teaching approach has motivated me to stay compassionate, dedicated and curious to learn more and build the skill of music within me. Do you mind to advice or stress on how can we recognize measures like 8th to 9th as mentioned in this video?
Hi Susan, appreciate your response. You mentioned in the lesson about the tricky part from switching from measure 8 to measure9 while playing the octaves with the right hand. Hence wanted to understand how to recognize the right hand switch. May be through 8va abr.
@@leandrafernandes9247 Ok, if you want to make sure to get to measure 9 on time (the octave higher part), you need to "cheat" the final quarter note in measure 8. If you make that quarter note short, then you'll have time to quickly move to the octave-higher position. Does this make sense? I would also practice that small section by itself so you can drill the move up and become comfortable with it. So practice starting at measure 8 and play to the end of measure 9. Hope this answers your question!
Hi Susan, im so grateful for your lessons, but I am learning on a small keyboard. Is that going to hinder my learning in any way? I have 36 white keys.
I notice in some sheet music I look at to see if I can figure out each note. and Some sheet music had a note that seems like it's wrong and doesn't' fit
Usually, notes written below the 3rd line of the staff will have stems pointing UP, while notes written above the 3rd line will have stems pointing DOWN. Notes ON the 3rd line can be written either up or down. The exception for this is very beginner sheet music, where stems up usually corresponds with RH notes and stems down is for LH notes.
