I’ve noticed for body surfing you use the middle finger and thumb for opening notes. I used thumb and forefinger for this but im working the middle finger in
Been systematically getting me a style on ukulele fir the last 5 years. Started with thumb for down picking and forfinger for up picking. But recently started adding middle finger for up on first string only. This sorta gives me a rule. Thumb down all strings. Up is forfinger exept first string is up on middle finger this gives me a little fingerstyle feel. I think im onto something. Wonder your thoughts on this im a old man have to get it right in a hurry
The truth is, there's no right or wrong way to fingerpick. But there are some common approaches for fingerpicking. I'd recommend checking out our Fingerpicking Concepts Course: rockclass101.com/fingerpicking-concepts-intro-fingerstyle/ It'll teach you 3 approaches for fingerpicking, as well as, when to use which depending on the context of the music you're playing.
I left a comment on your first post that will shed light on 3 common approaches for fingerpicking. But in a previous post, it sounds like you're also asking for a way to fingerpick notes across one string efficiently. In that case, I'd recommend using picado picking technique. We teach that technique in this Flamenco lesson: rockclass101.com/la-gitanita/

The last 3 comments is really just asking your advice on kinda assigning thumb to 3 and4 and ring and middle to 1 and 2

The problem with assigning thumb and fingers 123 for each string is that 2 notes consecutive on same string dont sound good unless its down and up
