    I've owned a Breakout since they come out back in 2013 and your videos have been a great help in maintaining my Harley. Just wanted to say Thank You for putting these videos out.

    Hey Dude - thanks for doing this vid. This is my first Harley and my first spring needing to do basic maintenance. The dealer only wanted $500(ish) to do the 3 fluids. Not only that, the owners manual makes no mention on that smaller oil plug. So thanx again...

  • @carceagx

    Drain plug engine oil. In the maintenance manual this step is not mentioned. Please advise if possible. Much appreciated!

    Never tighten a filter with the wrench. Always hand tighten till you can't move it anymore. I work on motorcycles out of my garage and when someone tightens it up with the wrench they are a mother to get off. Trust me on this!

    Servus! Ich habe bei meiner Breakout auch das Öl gewechselt und im Handbuch waren nur 3qts (ca 2.85l) inkl. Filter angegeben. Ich habe auch den 103cui Motor. 🤔

    • @seppel3850
      @seppel3850 Год назад

      @@HarleyDavidsonBreakout Ja, das wundert mich auch. Ich habe auch unterschiedliche Angaben gefunden (3.3l, 2.9l und 3.0l). Im digitalen Handbuch von H.D. zur Breakout stand es mit 3qt (vorläufige Füllmenge) und nach dem Warmlaufen ggf. auffüllen bis zur entsprechenden Markierung. Ich hatte blöderweise zuerst die 3.3l eingefüllt und beim Kontrollieren des Peilstabes ging es bis FULL/HOT (im Kaltzustand) - also wieder 400ml abgepumpt :D Hauptsache am Ende passt alles. Ich mache es übrigens auch so wie du - also das Bike auch mal auf die andere Seite kippen, um mehr Altöl herauszubekommen.
      Danke auf jeden Fall für die Videos für die Inspektionen. Die sind sehr hilfreich 👍

    • @phils9832
      @phils9832 15 дней назад

      Ich denke er macht die 3,3L rein, da er die Kurbelwellenablasssschraube vorne auch gelöst hat und da kam ja auch ne kleine Menge raus. Diese Schraube kannte ich an meiner Breakout bisher auch nicht. Es gibt manche die würden sogar noch den Ölrücklaufschlauch abmontieren und ALLES Öl noch in den Leitungen ebenso ausspülen.(Da gibts ein Video davon von "Delboys Garage", der macht das so) Diese Menge musst du dann aber auch bedenken beim Auffüllen.
      Ich habe das gemacht bei meiner 77er Shovelhead, da kommt nochmal 1 Liter aus den Leitungen raus. Ride safe

    • @phils9832
      @phils9832 15 дней назад

      Die Kurbelwellenschraube vorne wird ja im Handbuch nicht erwähnt und deshalb steht da auch nur was von 2,84L nachfüllen.
      Ich habe übrigens auch den 103 Motor :-)

    Cool video! This is the kinda stuff that I like! Save big time too considering the rip-off most shops charge you for a €7 filter, €20 in oil and 30 minutes labor!!!
    20-50 is the best oil for our air cooled bikes! Don't need anything fancy either... its not like a performance bike so super cool 👍
    And I also noticed you use the same pig-tail for charging as I do. What a coincidence!
    Honestly, I would loose the teflon... I've never needed it. Sure, many claim it's added seal against leaks but believe me, the o-ring is more than enough.
    Taking the filer off is always the shits!!! I explain a cool method in my channel using kitchen alu-foil.
    BTW: I intended to ask you some time ago. Do local authorities give you a hard time over there with the exhaust sound level? I hear CH is the worst place to be for dB control!
    Thumbs up from Biker's Garage 101!

    Sorry but it can't be 3.3 litres oil or 3.5 quarts... It takes more litres than quarts. 1 Qt is 0.946 litre. Should also place a rag or paper towel under the oil filter to prevent oil from dripping all over the engine bloc. Still fun to watch. Love the breakout. Same system as my old softail deluxe.

    CW Marsh how come you didn’t purge the rest of the old oil out of the engine , because just gravity draining is not going to get all the old oil out of the engine with out purging the system? Your way is only getting two thirds of the dirty oil out , you left a lot of the crappy old oil in your engine without purging it , unless I missed something in your video . Just saying .
