I'm going to get my first dirt bike in the next week. What are some tips you can give me?

that's awesome!!! If you haven't ridden a bike before than defiantly take it slow at first and focus on the basics like starts and stops in a big open area, getting a feel for where the clutch engages and how touchy the throttle is, stalling it will happen, even the pros stall sometimes so don't worry too much if it happens. Once you get going riding just practice coming to a complete stop by pulling the clutch in and gently use your front brake, do this multiple times to help you get a good feel of how much front brake you can use safely, and do the same with the rear, than try riding around a bit and shift through the gears, the long short story is it's very important to get comfortable with the bike before trying to go fast, speed always comes after good technique. I hope this helps : )
