You are the man! The flash was on Slow Sync mode. (I've checked with your Night Portret recommandations and I forgot to switch it back). I'm wondering how you get the 1/800 shutter speed in your Indoor/Party video, even the ISO is 400. I've tried all the possible and impossible settings, but I cant get more than 1/60 when I want to take a picture of a party table. It seems I have a long way to walk if I want to get good results...
@traznet73 Hi, I'm glad the P mode is working out. As for the indoor/party video, I just have a lot more light in my scene. When I shot these videos, I had three 125W lights on the background. That's a lot of light in such a small area and that's why I get 1/800. In a normal indoor scene, what you're seeing 1/8 - 1/60 is very normal. As you said, the only way to compensate if you're not using the flash is to increase the ISO.
thanks for your all videos. I have one question: If I use the SCN mode to make a Portret picture, pressing the button halfway, I get ISO 80, F 2.8 and shutter speed 1/60. I change to P -program, ISO 200 or 400, use the wheel to set the F to 3.5 ( as you advised for better field depth), but when I press the button I dont get more than 1/4 shutter speed. Even when I changed the F stop to 2.8, ISO 200, 400, 800, I got 1/13 but no more. Both cases flash on, the same distance and subject.
@traznet73 Hi, I would make sure the camera is reset to it's default settings. Normally when the flash is used in the P mode, the shutter speed is set to 1/60 - unless the flash is set to Slow Sync. Reset the camera, set the ISO and Flash to Auto and, in the P mode, force the aperture to f2.8 then see what happens. Hopefully that does it, let me know if not.
Hi, I'm sorry I can't show you because I no longer have access to the G10. There is a bracketing function in the function menu. Select that and choose the exposure difference between each picture by moving the green dashes around. The manual way is to simply change the exposure compensation. I do have a video about that, which you can easily find in the camera's functions page on my site. I hope that helps.
why you just not use manual to have more and easier control to the shutter speed too? because with your way your explaining you will need 1 minute to take 1 photo. just use manual mode you can have your access to shutter speed and aperture directly and the exposure level that easily guide you to the correct exposure. Also using more than F4 on this camera is not recommended. because of diffraction. its not a big sensor so you can stop down. Your guide on this video is a waste of time.
