I gotta be honest, while in theory an open world setting could be interesting, I think it could be detrimental. The best part about bioshocks linear experience is that it’s so refined because it’s linear. Every asset, NPC, battle engagements are given so much extra love whereas an open world, can make those experiences not as impactful. I may be the minority but making it open world will def divide the old fan base. Don’t fix something that isn’t broken
Honestly, I’m fine with ignoring the multiverse. I always imagined that the world outside of Rapture was basically like our own, but I’d be really interested to explore how weird and cool the rest of Rapture’s universe is. If the Borealis rumors are true, I hope it’s still tied to Rapture somehow.
Make Bioshock 4 the officially BioShock 3 game and uncanonized QuantumShock (bioshock infinite)....done Ken levin made a big mistake turning Bioshock into a multiverse series, to me......Bioshock is one and only ONE universe NOT multiple
I mean, it’s pretty much impossible for them to even continue Bioshock with Rapture and Columbia because I feel like those cities already told their stories and what occurred within them. It is also impossible for them to even continue the story through Infinite because in the base game we literally see Booker die by the hands of the different Elizabeths and in the after credit ending we see a different version of Booker check to see if Anna is in her crib and is left unknown to us if she was in her crib. For the DLC, we literally see Elizabeth die, so how can they continue a compelling story with Infinite? The only thing that they can take from Infinite is the Lutece twins and the multiverse theory since we can pretty much say that everyone in Infinite died or lived on in a different universe. Honestly, I think a soft reboot wouldn’t hurt the franchise at all because they can literally tell their own unique story while also making references from the previous games. For example, the new protagonist can have an encounter with the Lutece twins and they can mention Rapture and say that it was a very nice place or whatever. LOL Or they can mention Elizabeth’s death and say it was foolish of her to give up her powers and omniscient just to save a girl back in Rapture. Overall, Cloud Chamber needs to tell their own Bioshock story because Bioshock was never the type of game to really rely on one particular thing that made it so good. In Bioshock 1 we was in Rapture, in Infinite we was in Columbia, now in this new game we should go somewhere else and see new characters.
To be honest, I don't trust those leaks about it being called Borealis and taking place at the South Pole. I mean, if that would be true, it would be called Australis instead. Borealis = North Pole, Australis = South Pole. I think the whole "Borealis" name thing is straight up borrowed from Half-Life 2.
i swear to god if i don't i don't get to explore rapture i'm gonna riot! they should make a true horror game god if i had the money id open my own studio and do it my self because im never gonna get the bioshock i want or what the fans want
Before watching the video: No. They should just aim to make the sequel right, with which they apparently struggle already. Once they have made a proper follow-up they can think future plans. Just take it one step at a time And a personal thought I had lately. Maybe they should not even make a BioShock 4, but make a game similar to it but called something else. Such a case lowers their stakes, likely resulting in a game that actually goes into production in stead of development hell. And if it flops, it does not ruin the BioShock name
Judas won't be most likely an open world game but will offer different gameplay options and endings probably. But I think the overall deterministic aspect of Bioshock (Levine's games in general) is kinda essential, because it shows you that nothing really matters, although we, as a species, tend to make stuff and ourselves look like as if nothing else matters. It really shows the hubris. So, if BS4 would be open world and change the whole concept of the series a bit, with or without a multiverse aspect, I would actually appreciate that as well. I would have loved if Rapture would have existed in an open world where you can go back and forth as you please. However a multiverse would be nearly impossible to implement as an open world without making the player feeling trapped in it paradoxically. So I don't think BS4 would actually be "multiversal". Maybe they just set it up as a world in another universe but don't go back and forth between worlds like Infinite did.
We dont need another ""bioSHOCK"" WE just need new cool game which feels like Bioshock! We have cool Bio-trilogy new Bioshock will be 100% dissapointment remember my words
I'm thinking Bioshock 4 will be a departure similar to the way Infinite was a departure from Rapture. The plasmids, weapons and story are what make the bioshock games unique, at least for me. Comparisons to Judas will be inevitable, but as long as they concentrate on telling a compelling story for an immersive experience, then there's no reason the two can't co-exist and both be great.
I actually wouldnt mind going to a new location for a new bioshock but i doubt any games will truly capture that art deco charm of the 1st 2 games. Its such a beautiful yet haunting aesthetic. I think it would be cool to eventually get a bioshock remake/revision that explores rapture further and expands on the city, lore and plasmids.

I'm hoping for a new fantastic yet believable new setting, but with the usual familiar gameplay and mechanics of previous Bioshock games. As for the Open world element, maybe a Metroidvania world (a la Arkane's Prey) would make more sense

Meanwhile Infinite divided the fanbase and one of the complaints was that it was too linear. (Though it was by no means on the top 5 of complaints.)
That's a fair point
I am so sick of open world games i just want something simple a normal bioshock is that to much to ask?
Honestly Bioshock 4/ isolation needs to take a prey/ Metroidveinia approach to world design with some loadout elements from Dishonored thrown in too
My boy got a sponsor happy for you, bro 🤘🏻

I just hope to see pre war rapture once again, but in its original look like in bio1, not like it was in burial at sea
That would be nice honestly, but I'm not sure what they could do with it.

How about Bioshock 4 first then a soft reboot?
I just want a new game lol
@@TheBioshockHub I'm with you there my friend, although a reboot does sound pretty nice, can't deny that.
I still think, since Rapture was meant to be isolated, that Space would be the "final frontier" for secret cities.
That definitely makes sense

I hope it isn't, but the lack of any updates is a big concern of mine.
I think so too, it's pretty iffy. They just need to follow up with the gameplay elements of both of the games with a brand new story.

bishock should be remade but remain linear
Partially disagree; If anything, it should take more from the first and second games where there's a little bit more exploration.
A reboot?
Is BioShock Rapture (Novel) canon?
I think parts yes, others were author's liberties.
