    Don't bother leaving an "unsubscribe" comment. If you're spreading conspiracy theories and mocking or shaming victims and survivors of a school shooting, I don't think you're in the right place anyways.

    I don't think that anyone is shaming "victims." Rather, people are pointing out that David Hogg is the one who is actually doing the shaming. He is a profane personification of selfish egotism that results when you give fame to someone who the media decides should be a spokesman for a cause that most people don't support (i.e., gun control).
    Hogg is entitled to his views. He is entitled to use all 15 minutes of fame that the press gives him. However, we also have a right to call him out when he simply insults almost everyone who doesn't believe with his calls for massive government regulation or a loss of a constitutional right.

    • @IamDoogy
      @IamDoogy 6 лет назад +30

      Well said. Hogg is the offensive "shamer" in this scenario. It's so obvious and yet DeFranco misses it.

      The problem is they're funded by all sorts of organizations and lobbying groups, like the NRA. They're fancy cars and big houses are paid for by people with an agenda to push, and if they want to get or stay in power, they have to serve the people who pay their bills, personal and campaign.

      Grand Plebe I've heard of some that spoke with the shooter AFTER the shooting and assumed it was someone else. That doesn't quite have enough merit in my opinion though. It's well known that he tried to blend in after it was all said and done.
      Not saying it's not possible though. There have been so many lies by law enforcement lately and even not so lately. Coverups are all too common.

    • @austinhenning4935
      @austinhenning4935 6 лет назад

      Grand Plebe People wouldn't be freaking out if the media didn't choose to run with this story. So many shootings have gone untelevised and no one cared.
      Although it's an absolute tragedy, school shootings have been on a steady decline. It's all just a stunt to get an agenda passed and an election won.
      Their version of legislation means unconstitutional laws. They've already done other things lile the clear backpack policy, where all the students pushing for MORE government intervention and the taking of rights complained because they got just that - more government and less rights.
      They don't care. They just want a gun grab.

      "Some shit going wrong" was a confrontation between a lifeguard and a random dude. The guy didn't survive two school shootings, and the first video didn't even have an agenda to push did it?
      The guy is good-looking and seems somewhat comfortable in front of a camera, it makes sense for news outlets to interview him when they get on the scene.
      Sure the possibility of a random guy being interviewed for two randoms events in different states is low, but outright dismissing the possibility solely based on that fact is fucking absurd.
      By that logic, anyone ever hit by lightning is lying because the probability is too low, no one ever won the lottery because it's one big conspiracy with paid actors/winners and extremely rare diseases are all faked by people because there's almost no chance of getting them.

      That's a really twisted way of looking at it. You're turning it into like a narrative, a story, where there are villains and heroes, but this, pragmatically, is about a kid's ability to legally acquire a weapon to mow down his schoolmates. You Americans are so screwed up in believing you're better off with that ease to acquire mass murder machines. Just imagine if in Canada or something had atomic bombs on offer in Walmart, but you had to be above 16 to acquire them, and maybe pass some intelligence test. There might be politics about restricting hydrogen bombs, but fission bombs are totally on the table, because some 200 year old document says it's so. That's how the rest of the civilised world looks at United "One School Shooting Every Other Day" States of America.

    • @_peepee_
      @_peepee_ 7 лет назад +7

      Atticus you can disagree with our laws without tactlessly disrespecting children who lost their lives. if this was a terror incident or a natural disaster and people sacrificed themselves to save the lives of others what would be so wrong with honoring them? how is this different? we know that its not a story, its real and contains the depth and subtlety that comes with that, but its ridiculous to say that these people dont deserve recognition. most americans agree theres a problem with the system, but frankly you make the whole movement of stricter gun laws look bad.

    • @liammccarthy4877
      @liammccarthy4877 7 лет назад +4

      How can you say that calling people who sacrificed so much so that other students and teachers could live on heroes is a twisted way of looking at it. Just because you call someone a hero doesn't mean it's all of a sudden a story with villains and a plot. It just means that we, collectively as proud americans respect and honor people like Aaron Feis who gave up so much to allow others to live on and I think you saying that it has nothing to do with what went on inside the school and only has to do with the shooter is very messed up and disrespectful to all who were lost or scarred in this truly awful event. But, while there is work to be done in the "gun department" of America, comparing a gun to an atomic bomb is just outrageous and we all know it. Finally, we don't just blindly follow "some 200-year-old document" while we do use it as a source of guidance there is still room for discussion which these brave high school students are trying to do in Florida.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to put down dissent and originality. That is its aim in the United States, whatever the pretensions of politicians, pedagogues and other such mountebanks, and that is its aim everywhere else.”

    As an AR-15 owner, I 100% agree we need harsher background checks. Shoot I'll even go as far as adopting a Califorina law where there is a 5-10 day waiting period to receive your gun and this is coming from a Native Texan who loves the 2nd Amendment. I don't need the gun right off the bat.
    In addition, we need to fix the FBI and the process in which they background check. Thoroughly go through someone's background and check every social media he/she uses. If they see one threat/comment put them down as threat or under suspicion.
    Also I am not surprised that INFO WARS started a conspiracy. That is how they thrive on the internet. It is a troll channel that should not get attention.

    "look at him struggle to remember his lines after the incident."
    i was in a car accident a few years back. i had the greenlight and was passing through an intersection. failing to see he didn't have the right away, i got hit on the drivers side of the car, more toward the hood than the door.
    airbags deployed, drivers side window was smashed, spiderweb like cracks all over the windshield, and the sound of my horn just blaring. i was stunned. i just remember stepping out of my car and feeling like it was a dream. it didn't feel real. i had a small fracture in my foot, and for several minutes didn't even realize it.
    i remember talking to the first officer on the scene. i was fumbling words. i was shaking. i was nervous. i guess i couldn't remember my lines, right?
    i'm not trying to sit here and say "i know what this kid feels like," but if a crash that totaled my car and placed me in a cast had me so riled up like that, i cannot imagine what was going through that kids head at the time of the interview. his classmates and friends were shot. some killed.
    people making comments like "look at him struggle" are a part of the group that has never endured real trauma in their life to any degree. shame on those people. hope you rot in hell.

      Deepto Chatterjee the thing is I don’t think he was tripping over his words. To me he was trying not to cry, it was the behaviour of someone talking about something deeply distressing to him and he was stopping talking so that he didn’t burst into tears. It also explains why the person off camera was saying it was ok.... because they knew he was upset and trying to help calm him.

I've noticed a few people at my college said they stopped listening to Phil because they feel he's transformed from semi-objective news, with partial opinion, to overwhelming, and unprofessional, emotional rants. I had to disagree, yet I believe continuing to do so would be subjective of me on my part, due to possible mere-exposure effect. Overall I enjoy getting my news from Phil, and sincerely hope will be able to take his work with seriousness in the future.

    Ya know what really just fucks me up? We have this 15 year old American hero who used his actual body to shield other humans from bullets who we should be celebrating and giving the higest of respects and honor too. And instead we have to worry about how his family will pay for the treatment keeping him alive. How they will afford his recovery when he finally gets to go home. How they’ll afford the changes his home may need so he can live a full life.
    We’re more worried about the guns and the bullets than the children taking them to the chest. And it really fucks me up.

      I believe that the people of his community, and those of the internet, are alleviating that worry. They're doing what communities, charity groups, and crisis groups have done for a long time. Helping those in need. If even just under an 1/8th of Phil's audience go to that page and donate, that family will receive all the funding for future assistance he'll need for years. This is something people can do, can tangibly do without having to wait for lawmakers, politicians, etc. So it actually really gives me hope for society when I see people pulling together for strangers after a tragedy like this.

      Both sides mock tragedy against "the other side". Its not about mocking the victims, For example until I watched this video i thought the david kid was a crisis actor just cause there was all the evidence presented that was too much to say that there wasn't something really weird, but all ended up fitting together and making sense because of phils video.
      Its a natural fear for people who value their 2nd amendment rights. I would much rather just pray for the victims familys. do a charity for the familys so they could burry their kids without spending a penny. instead its met with immediate stress about how now i have to educate every progressive about how weapons work and why a ban wouldn't fix anything.
      they take a tragedy and use it as political points to literally infringe upon the rights of others

    I think we should all give the Daily Wire a round of applause. Because I’m so sick of seeing the faces and hearing the names of these vile sorry excuses of human beings.
    And my feelings aside, because “facts don’t care about your feelings.” It has been shown that media coverage of mass shootings seems to cause more shootings. Not video games, movies, offensive jokes, or gun laws. It’s almost like these shooters want to become famous. Let’s not give them what they want.

I always considered it a phenomenon that although violent crime and homicides have gone down in the past decade, the frequency of these mass shootings have increased in that same time. Back in the late 80's and 90's when violent crime was much higher, mass shootings we're less common. It's strange, and I'm stumped in terms of why.

      Spybat007 what should we do short of universal background checks though? That would require a federal registry since so many guns are transferred on the secondary market already. You'd never make that legislation effective without a registry.

    • @robertknight3776
      @robertknight3776 7 лет назад +4

      Maybe we need to take a multi-step approach to the debate.
      Some of the things that should be addressed first (in my opinion)...
      The gun show loop hole, as stated above, in most states if you are buying a gun from either a gun show or from a second hand seller, there is no background check. As a matter of fact in most states there's absolutely no regulations at all when it comes to buying firearms like that.
      National registry. Believe it or not, there are only a handful of states that require you register your weapon. As a matter of fact, there's almost the same number of states that require it, as there are states that make even the attempt at creating a rifle registry illegal (who exactly is that law protecting?)
      If your gun is lost or stolen, doesn't it make sense that you should be required to report it? Well not according to 42 states. As the law goes right now, only in 8 states are you required to file a police report if your firearm goes missing for any reason. Additionally, because most firearms aren't registered to specific individuals, all someone has to do, is commit a murder with a gun, on the 1 in a million chance that they're caught, claiming that their gun was stolen is actually a viable way of avoiding prison.
      Locking devices. This is more about logic and practicality. While a locking device may dissuade a wannabe shooter, they are more for the safety of those around people who legally own guns, and perhaps that person themselves. Because locking devices prevent childhood accidents by a factor of 5 (estimated) (childhood suicide rate by gun is literally 5 times higher than with any other method, although many of these could be simply attributed to accidental discharge). While actually lowering the rate of suicide by gun, by an astounding 46% (estimated). The sad part about these numbers? Literally only one state has laws regarding locking your weapons while not in use, Massachusetts (Massachusetts has the lowest suicide by gun numbers of any state, with only Hawaii getting anywhere close). Only 12 states have any laws at all in regards to gun locks, and 11 of those only pertain to when the gun is bought/sold.
      Rifles should not automatically be "better" according to the law. As it is right now, even in states that regulate handguns, rifles and their many variations, are somehow immune to most restrictions.
      I would personally go a step further. I think, honestly, that there should be an annual licensing. And it would require both a physical test, but also a mental one.
      A mental test that checks for things like severe bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, impulse control problems, untreated PTSD, extreme gullibility, and violent outbursts under stressors.
      Ideally such a test would not automatically preclude you from purchasing/owning a firearm, but it would put you on a list that would be monitored. As well as the doctors in charge (it would absolutely need to be a group of them, in order to prevent bias), would be able to deny them a gun for a year. At which point they could be re-evaluated.

I believe in the right to bear arms but not when they are handing them out teenagers. Being 18 makes you an adult but not all 18 year old are "grown up". It would reallyhelp if Hogg didn't come across as a bully and appear to be so utterly untrustworthy, especially with his many video's that contradict the others as to timings, events and locations.
    It would help if Gonzalez hadn't appeared to admit on film that Cruz was bullied throughout his school life, possibly by her.
    It would help if they hadn't all been caught laughing on camera, suggesting deceit.
    It would help if these kids were not so overwhelmingly aggressive when attacking everyone who doesn't conform to their agenda, especially Kasky, who probably alienated half of the adult world when he "threatened" Rubio and Gonzalez when she disparaged Dana Loesch; or when slagging off everyone older than themselves.
    It would help if they didn't lie about what people had said, such as Marco Rubio.
    In short, these kids have helped create this shitstorm themselves and it would really help if they weren't so clearly disingenuous.

    One thing being the amount of tweets from older generations complaining about parents using their children as ‘pawns’ for the movements taking place.
    In my opinion, anyone who can watch these kids speak so strongly and passionately about this topic and tell me that they are not genuine and that they’ve been ‘coached’ can just leave.

      The "video" you're talking about is a 29-second clip picked out of a much longer interview.
