From an Evertonian, I recall this match very well. This was one of the most tremendous matches I ever watched live at home as a youngster. I recorded it on tape at the time but never kept it, great to see an upload of the full live event which appears to be the same original VHS recording that I had. This was the day Mark Bosnich became properly introduced as the controversial but highly promising keeper. Some great performances on show in this match, but the day belonged to Boz.
I was there as a 17 year old Tranmere fan. So gutted when we eventually lost, but I remember being in the car on the way home and feeling very proud that we had been involved in such a dramatic tie over both legs.
Best atmosphere that I’ve ever experienced at Villa Park in my lifetime to date! Place was electric that day. Watching this video has brought back so many happy memories. UTV!! 🦁

Thank you so much for uploading this, just relived the day I fell in love with villa as a 7 year old. Stood on the chair in the upper Doug Ellis. Man that place rocked to its foundations that afternoon. I was lucky enough to go to the final as well. Great times. UTV 👍🏻
I remember Frank Bruno being interviewed by Gary Newbon for ITV on the touchline before the game and we were giving Newbon some horrendous stick from the Holte calling him a bluenose amongst other things. If anyone has the ITV build up to this game somewhere it would be great to upload it. I recorded it but I bought the Villamania version from the clubshop and recorded over it again

My young son and I were at that game.Proper cup game.He ended up on the pitch at the end with Shaun Teals kids who had been by us in the lower Trinity.We did get to Wembley too.U.T.V

Took my 14 year old daughter to this game. Still the most exciting game I ever attended. I remember hugging complete strangers. 😊
