My Polychron can't even get JRRT's name right on the dedication page of 'The Fellowship of the King': "Dedicated to John Ruel Ronald Tolkien..." Bodes well for the rest of the novel.
“One king will gather them all, one king will unite them, one king will lead them against the evil that will smite them” xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Yeah, I was tempted to read and review it for a laugh, but I don't know if I want to put money in his pocket if this is as straight up plagiarism as it looks
@@Cam_Wolfe The case is a joke and will be dismissed first day! I hope they sue for ownership of the ripp off they will get it! 🤦♂🤣 His book is a ripp off of their copyright!
Someone should post a free copy somewhere. It won't be in print much longer. Now that the guy has made himself visible, his lawyers should be hearing from the Tolkien estate before long. Almost 40 years ago, Dennis McKiernan had to rewrite his fan-fiction Lord of the Rings sequel before it could be published (as The Silver Call). Vanity-publishing a story does not relieve one of copyright and trademark obligations.
@@majkus The only thing Tolkein lawyers will say in court are dismiss this legal garbage and give us copyright of the book! I so hope they do it will be hilarious when he loses his pirated book!
Uhhh yeah, I totally can see them playing uno reverse. Should have kept his mouth shut, unless, as you said, he's hoping to use it for publicity. Wtf. 😂
The delusions of some creators and what's "their intellectual property" is honestly baffling. It's almost as bad as Deviantart back in the day and "don't steal my OC" mentalities lol the drama
I hope this doesn't kickstart a trend where any and everyone feels complacent enough to sue major production companies for plagiarism thinking its a brilliant marketing strategy! We'll see how this plays off, but something tells me that if this guy somehow wins this lawsuit, it'll open the floodgates 😅🤣
The absolute shock on my face when I realized that this is a Cam Wolfe video and not, in fact, a Legal Eagle video. Bro had me fooled from the start. Appreciate the clarification though.
How this guy managed to write so much using LoTR elements? did the Tolkien state authorize its usage ? Should we expect more suits in the future ? What a mess!
The only way this could get more baffling is if somehow this dude gets a lawyer that has a Rob Kardashian level stroke of luck and manages to pull this off on a technicality. They won't, but could you imagine? Oh the tea would be spilling like a flashflood😂
I think it kind of creepy that the guy actually went all the way and dropped a copy of the manuscript off at Simon Tolkien’s home… also jokes on him if he thought he could get more attention to the book it’s been taken down from Amazon
This makes my brain hurt. Let me rip off Lord of the Rings and then sue people who have the license for it. What? Fanfic has its place and should remain a hobby of fans of the fic. It can be awesome and entertaining, but to have the audacity to sue the people who got approved through the proper channels is just wild. How does he really think this is gonna go? From the sound of it he should absolutely be slapped with counter suits. That's a big old yikes!
That's what he has been telling everyone, but nah, even just by reading the blurb it's clear he's using a ton of the locations and characters from LOTR
I'd consider RoP more a loose stool than a loose adaptation. To be honest, the book in question sounds like fan-fic gibberish. (Incidentally, that's true about most material produced for streaming services)
Honestly, I’ll keep saying.. people need to get real creative. That’s what he gets for ripping and piggyback off of master creator JRRT LoR. Think of something new people and copyright it. This happens all the time. Fan fiction is just lazy. That guys crazy I hope he looses the lawsuit… like a noob. This is all lame and crunchy.
Someone's got to keep the lawyers employed I guess.
haha, you're not wrong

I was tempted to read it for shits and giggles, but $12 for an ebook is a bit pricey for an author I've never even heard of

That's the goofiest thing I've seen all day. That man's got a plan, even if it doesn't make any sense
Right? haha
So this guy named his book "Fellowship of the King" and he's the one suing a (barely) LOTR property?
This world we live in is really somethin'....
Anyone suing the rings of power for whatever reason is right haha
@@sillesrepa8249 No disagreements there. I just think it's funny

1:54 Oscar Isaac?
This whole thing is preposterous. Due writes fan fiction and think he's entitled to something. Horrible
I hate Amzon's ROP but this is just bad fanfiction.

An absolute mess
But it's not summer in Australia anymore
Helsby said it well, where I live is like another dimension when it comes to weather, one day its Winter, the next its Summer
@@Cam_Wolfe Ah, yes, from someone in Victoria, I understand you too well
So when everyone said it seemed like bad fan fiction, that may've been literal.
It's a nuisance lawsuit - he's hoping they'll throw a few bucks his way to shut him up.
That's what I was thinking too, although I'm not too confident Amazon would be willing to do that 😬
@@Cam_Wolfe in light of all the problems they're having they might...or they might lash out at and crush this guy - flip a coin.

My thoughts exactly 😂
