Tamera, you have the spiritual gift of teaching. I'm thankful that i saw this commentary about comparing oneself in a negative way. I've been struggling with self worth and value for a big part of my life. I am a middle-aged 59 year old who is disabled and unable to work. The last few years has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs because of chronic physical and mental health issues. In my private thoughts i've made the mistake of comparing my life with my friends and others who don't have these limitations put on them. But, tonight, for the first time in a long time, those thoughts were absent. Do you know how much a relief it is to not want to beat yourself up for issues that are not always in your power to control? I faced a fear tonight that i didn't think i had the courage to face. Your thoughts about how we unfairly compare ourselves with another person is a timely conversation to have, especially now in the new year of 2024. What i take away is: We are all God's children, given certain spiritual gifts to encourage and lift other human beings, to love ourselves as God loves us, and to do the best that we can. There is no right or wrong way to be. Just aspire to use your God given gifts to better mankind. I want to thank you for reminding me and i'm sure others here on this post that WE ARE ENOUGH!! The Lord created us to be the messengers of his love and to go out into the world and spread this gospel to all that can hear it.

This is so good! I have caught myself feeling the sting of someone else's success and I'd feel ashamed to ever feel this way. It's not that I didn't want to see others succeed, I realized that I just didn't want them to be more successful than me because that made me feel inferior. Their success wasn't the problem; it was the internalized false sense of failure that their success caused me. No need to compare. I'm intentional in not allowing those horrible feelings to creep in. I want my loved ones to be successful period and their success in no way diminishes my value.

I needed this. Honestly, it can be so easy to fall into that negative comparison cycle especially when we let what others are saying and what we are feeling affect how we see ourselves. What you said is so true- it is so important for us to see ourselves in who God has made us to be and NOT who others in the world say we are (or ought to be!) because ultimately who God says we are will stand the test of time even when we fall short. This was truly an on time message for me. in November of through May of 2023 I drove myself into depression, anxiety, panick, and burnout trying to live like how I saw people on social media live, by overworking and stressing. Until god opened my eyes to realize that’s whats for other is for them and what’s for me is for me. And what I don’t have currently that I desire to have, will on only happen in gods timing, no more comparing just living! 🙌🏾❤

You don't necessarily have to be a twin to go through things like this. I applaud you for bringing this out because people hide behind themselves and don't want to talk about certain things that they are going through or thinking about as we get older we should get wiser in that work And not worry about what people think if you having a issue talk about it regardless to what it is pray about it.
