- Nickel Plate Road 765 made a test run April 26, 2014 from New Haven, Indiana to Leipsic, Ohio. This scene was not planned! 765 had just turned on the wye at Protec when a local with railroad ties stepped up alongside the tracks and handed the engine crew a genuine ancient Nickel Plate Road Train Order. The Train Order read "Have a nice trip back to Casade"!

Reminds me of when an ex-Frisco employee tipped his hat to Frisco 1522 when it was still running, though I have to admit hooping up a genuine train order is something very special.
A little bit of the past come back to life, if only for a moment, back when steam was king and there were men up in the towers keeping an eye on things as they pulled their levers and hooped up the orders, instead of being huddled in a computer center and never even seeing the trains anymore...
It's been a year or two since I first saw this video, but every time I come back to it I can't help but smile!
Thank you for posting this.
Fail, the conductor is also supported to get a copy.
Jersey Mike's Rail Videos the conductor is a member of the pilot crew and is in the cab of the locomotive.
Nickel Plate 2-8-4 No. 765.
The 765 was built in 1944 by The Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio for The New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad knows they called The "Nickel Plate Road".
Nice. Guess we were on the wrong side of the diamond!
okay...that was just SWEET!!!
Orders On The Fly. Way Cool! ^_^
So cool. I wonder if the crew keeped the orders?
What was the blue unit behind the auxiliary tender?
That is the society's CF7.
Didn't know they had one. I thought just the 44 tonner and the SD9
***** The CF7 was donated two years ago.
Is the paint scheme something the Fort Wayne guys came up with? Cause I really want to see some progress on that NKP SD9 they got.
***** The paint scheme is from the previous owner, who donated the engine to us, and the society saw no need to repaint the locomotive because of the good condition of the current paint.
