The HD model for the Spas-12 is absolutely better. The M16 looks cool but I prefer the MP5 because it still shares ammo with the pistol. The magnum is also absolutely better too

I've had this glitch too though only in opposing force. It seems that the trash compactor can remotely kill you. Though if you put enough distance between you and it the glitch doesn't trigger.
I don't know exactly how Gearbox did this because in GoldSrc you can't parent trigger brushes to func_train or func_tracktrain. I think they have a trigger brush that automatically kills the player at a certain point except they made the trigger too big or it got glitched in an entity update since you can't decompile GoldSrc maps.
when you spent *half* of your *life* fighting only to die to a heart attack because the *opposing force* that you were fighting made a trash compactor so scary to you.
It's because you've touched body while trash compactor moving. it's a bug. Same happens with the fan at beginning of 'Office Complex' in original game, until you destroy the body it will happen.
my guess is it has something to do with excessively high frame rates. certain game logic breaks pretty badly in all Goldsrc games at high frame rates, the most famous one being elevators gibbing you
@@AgusTTBlue half-life is limited to 100fps by default, which should be fine. but if you are really wanting it lower you should type in console: gl_vsync 0 fps_max 60 fps_override 1 if its 60 the fps shouldnt cause any issue
That doesn't sound right. GoldSrc is a very well-designed engine, by and large, and had robust main loop logic that would avoid such issues. Given the fact that you can adjust the time scale and even limit the FPS (Render frames, not update rate), it's safe to say that it has render lerping, which isn't always implemented in games on platforms where performance and display is going to be far more standardized (E.g. DMC 3, which notably lacked render lerping). What you mentioned is moreso due to collision issues - specifically player hitboxes getting pinched between elevator hitboxes and the rest of the map's geometry.
@@VicariousReality In one of the recent patch notes in which they fixed boxes moving at insane speeds when interacting with them, they mentioned that was caused by the speed of the boxes depending on the user's framerate. This probably wasn't the only framerate dependent feature with the engine (in the retail release of Half-Life, the FPS was capped at 72, but for the Steam release, they made the cap much higher, which resulted in a lot of these types of issues).
Half life opposing force is my favorite half life expansion but the problem with it is the amount of bugs it has like sometimes youre stuck onto elevator floors basically you cant move or jump anymore and thhe same thing happens in a certain vent loading point where if you dont jump before going into the loading point youre basically stuck on the vent floor with the same problem as the elevator

I've had this happen a few times in Goldsource games. Seems the game thinks you touched the trash compactor even though you didn't.
