Wheel of Freestyle with Common

Black Thought is one of the most underrated rappers of all time.
Malik Fletcher PERIOD.
agree, he is underrated, pretty common statement
His name is Black Thought.
my favorite roots song feat. common lmao
underrated lyricists and definitely more than that, they're true entertainers lol
He is underated ur right but when u talk about GOATs his name still ends up coming up
Cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger
Cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger
I did not get this line...not an english native speaker :s
The goal of the game is to mention the words at least once in the freestyle. But Tariq said he will "take it three further, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger", meaning he mentions the word 3 times instead of one.
Oh yea dude, forgot about that bit.
That line was so clever especially being on NBC
It's crazy how underappreciated Black Thought is, but you can tell whenever the real hip hop heads are on the show, they know what the man is. Legend.
Trust
Streams of Thought, Vol. 1 was just fire!
@@TEETHclothing I wish it was longer. I mean more joints
Man u ain't never lied....I can listen to him rap about anything all day!
@MrCactus Not underrated actually, he's already famous as a member of The Roots.
I love how Common showed love for Tariq even before he began freestyling.
They go way back
They homeboys The Roots should get Common to join or at least feat.
@@1fes323 Common & Black Thought would make a dope ass rap Duo, call them 'Common Thought'
@@Dee_Nice89 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Kendrick who?
@@adwowaafful3617 I like Kendrick but man, Black Thought is a pure MC. Might be the greatest.
Kna what I'm saying, word up, Tariq Trotter. That's how he ended it. BEAST!
@@tropical9913 they’re both greats, Tpab is a masterpiece and Things Fall Apart is a hip hop classic
"Sometimes I battle, sometimes I straddle, formality, before malady, I'm the realist in virtual reality!" Yoo that line was so dope
Salesi Akauola I was dead😖
Yoo, line was way too hot to handle, common blessed us bruh for real 😇
Salesi Akauola if u wanna know why he so solid like that..go back & listen to his three classics
Yeah he killed that challenge he was hype up after the first freestyle and black thought freestyle fr Real!
You knew Common was about to snap when he started shaking his hand 😂
Susanoo YOU RIGHT
Lol at Common pronouncing 'snowplow' the wrong way round. both killed it, didn't expect any less
Sel Tuupo that shit was funny. Rapper do it all the time. Em does it a lot.
Snawplow lol had me weak
Watch Em's shit when he rhymes words with "orange". It'll make more sense how rappers manipulate annunciation to fit the rhyme. Fuck, Canibus does that shit left and right. He even has a line, "Off page these words shouldn't even rhyme" or some shit like that in his "100 Bars" track. Idk, I'm drunk as fuk right now.
Common is a good rapper and these days good rappers aren't common.
KOKO RICE nice
Well played
Nice
Nice chiasmus.
It's all about auto tunes nowadays
Common seemed to genuinely enjoy himself
Common and The Roots are very good friends; in fact Common and Questlove were once part of an R&B/hip hop collective called _The Soulquarians,_ which also included Erykah Badu, Mos Def, D'Angelo and the late J Dilla.
@@theobuniel9643 p sure the roots are also friends with the lox and Wu Tang clan

Common had a nice flow. Especially that last one, damn
Yea, he was just warming up in the first one. He KILLED IT on that third verse. I had to listen to BT's verse and that third one like 10 times in a row lol.
the way he pronounced snowplow was UNcommon
Daniel Afolabi damn look at you

Daniel Afolabi it was Snao plow
Some really deep talent here bro
LMFAO! I've been laughing at this comment for the past 10 mins - Damn Daniel
This is fucking hip hop man. You could see Common didn't like his first freestyle as much and when Black Thought went and absolutely KILLED it the competitive juices of Common came out and he also KILLED that second freestyle to end it off. 2 legends man...I love hip hop...
"Let me put this brick to mortar..." I'm like, this is gonna be good!

"The maddest rapper she's heard'a. Matter of fact I take you three further..." this dude is officially #1 on my list.
Philip J. Fry the baddest rapper not maddest.
Welcome to the club. LoL!
Damn that shit was sick. The verses got better and better. Both of these dudes are living hip-hop legends. Respect!
Am I the only one that wanted another black thought verse.
you ain't the only one shit was so good I had to curse.
Ishmael Gaynor I was angry. You know for a last freestyle he would've went hard
Black Thoug is a beast
Réquiem Tony Prayers I've watched this at least 200 times
Ishmael Gaynor hell nah
Wow.......Black Thought and Common free styling on NBC is a win for the 80s babies
whoah and the late 90s babies
And early 2000's kids
So right Pete. It’s sad but hip hop has evolved into what the industry wanted. No one will ever know what it feels like to have late 80’s and early 90’s hip hop in their life. We been blessed with a gift that we took for granted. It’s sad but I don’t ever seeing real hip hop come back to it’s true form.
Lol facts
Pete lol
Common and Black Thought. Two of the best non swearing, upper level thinking lyricist in the game.
VanRocCarMor Black thought definitely swears
no doubt. two ill ass lyricists
And so does Common!
They both swear😂
4:32, "COME ON!"
( * reconsiders pronunciation * )
4:37, "COMMON!"
Lmao
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💰😂 Hilarious
Yo this is the funniest shit
🤣🤣🤣
Black thought is a beast for sure, but common is so underrated today. The second freestyle proves just how good he really is. Also you can tell, how much he appreciates black thought, really likable guy.
Yea you can tell after that second verse Tariq got him hyped.
They're both pretty incredible. Roots and Common have both put out some amazing music.
The Falcons blew a 25 point lead.
Le Nguyen AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE

Black Thought is literally right there.

Jarvbs Jones you got white boy right but defiantly not suburban
Jarvbs Jones mate, he can freestyle alright. He's an emcee first, then a rapper and there's a big arse reason he's respected by other emcees.

I love Common’s bringing in a Chicago reference with “Green Limousine”
Black Thought the GOAT! Keep these freestyles coming because everyone needs to see him flex this muscle. Glad Common came back hard on that second one!
And this is why Tariq stays in number in my rap books. Common held down nicely too. Such a joy to see OG's flexing rhythm and poetry so effortlessly
Yo Tariq is fucking amazing
4:41 - "Riq nigga!" lmaooo
hahaahha legend
I like how when he said, “Imma take it three further” some guy in the back laughed because he already knew what Black Thought was gonna say 😂 (2:42)
"snaoploh"
SoloStudios Common may have dyslexia... that makes him even awesomer IJS
+QueSaRahNYC yea. A rapper who professionally reads and recites raps, turned actor who professionally reads and recites scripts may possibly have dyslexia.
my sister has dyslexia and is an following a career where high level of reading and comprehension is needed, and she is balling out at it so what is your point?
Snaoploh. The answer is always snaoploh.
He meant to do it. Switched the emphasis on the "ow"s to make it rhyme, clever af
wtf is a SNAUPLOW? lol.
Dweebix that's what I said
Dweebix white boy always gotta point out the negative
I think he had forgotten the pronunciation of the word in mid rhyme and had already set the previous few lines up to rhyme with the word you just wrote, so he went with it.
Good rappers sometime bend a word and syllables to fit within the bars and rhyme scheme. Eminem does it with oranges all the time lol
Poetic license
"but im not a rapper"
snaw plo
Whitefright 😂😂😂word...like wtf???
White people just don't understand
@@lonewolf3564 im black and i dont understand
@@kamekami4879 yeah, no offense but I highly doubt you're black... If you can't understand how common and black thought twist pronunciation of words to rhyme for hip hop then I don't know what to tell you. Anyone who knows underground hip hop knows what's going on with the "snow plow" thing.
Also I was actually just making a joke about how Fallon said he just doesn't understand in the video. It wasn't that serious. Like I said, I've got a hunch you're just saying you're black, but if you really are then, it is what it is.
@@lonewolf3564 i know rappers twist pronounciation, but I've never heard one twist it so much that its not even a word any more.
Tariq raw on the mic
"On cloud 9 with it ... Girls reaching their climax

hope more guest that can freestyle like this 👏👍
Tanya Sparrow its not gonna happen
Common is one of hip hops greats
I'm so starved for new Black Thought verses I'm listening to this for the 3rd time
I love how Quest Love laughed mad hard before he finished that last verse. He knew lmao
The levels of brilliance here is just soo underrated. Black Thought just said at the start of the freestyle, “ Let me put this brick the motar, 3 words in that particular order”
Cos the freestyle generators look like actual bricks.. speechless
If you actually try to freestyle, it's so f'n hard to do. The fact that these guys both just saw the words and then instantly worked them into a rhyme is crazy. The talent of these two guys is so underappreciated
He makes it look so easy, I couldn't freestyle to save my life.
I always wonder what is going through his head when he sees those three random ass words appear on the screen. His mind must be moving a million miles a minute, it's unreal
That's because he's practised.
I Love Common But Let's Not Forget How Underrated Black Thought Is! He is A Killer!
In which world is Black Thought underrated? This guy is a legend since the crew dropped Illadelph Halflife. Period.
Black Thought is amazing. I keep rewinding and watching his portion again and again.
When you have arguably the greatest lyricist on your side for your show. Jimmy's so lucky to have Black Thought and The Roots crew as his band.
Common on the last one. He gets his hand going and it's a wrap! So good!
2 of the top 10 GOAT´s No question......
ivan riobla um no...
Who else. How is Black Though and Common not in the top 10.
Hmni Kadoza Rakim , Pac , Pun, Andre3000, Big, the Wu, NWA etc.
Really? Pun has one album, Biggie has two and they're top 10, meanwhile Tariq's sitting on 11 albums of greatness and he's not?
Crashtest Fetus nwa was good but they only had 1 good album and it was their first. Also, cube was the only real rapper in the groups and wrote for Dre and e.
They did a lot for the game, but I would argue that the roots did more and really evolved it with The Soulquarians. Not only have they continued to drop quality, album after album, but that whole movement brought back consciousness in hiphop. They deserve to be part of the discussion.
I love the mutual respect between common and black thought! They've been in it together for years and every bit of that respect earned.
Common spits without swearing like a monster!!!
Common must have been like “you’re really gonna make me rap with Black Thought...”
CheeseburgerCheeseburgerCheeseburger. He stole that line from John Belushi. ;)
Common is beast
That last one was really good ☺️
😄 When Common starts waving that hand you know hes about to go off lol
Tariq's understanding of close rhymes always kills me. He's so good.
"Truthfully I Wanna Rhyme Like Common . . ."-JAY Z
But I did 5 mil, I ain't been rhyming like Common since
i want like a whole hour of that!! pure fire.
TheOriginalRevolt for real
TheOriginalRevolt This is done all the time on Sway in the morning show with all kinds of rappers in studio(Common being one of them in the past). Its called five fingers of death, look it up on youtube.

+PolishPowerFilms love this !!
Black Thought did that so effortlessly
These were some epic bars from Black Thought, they just prove that he's literally the most underrated lyricist of all time, the fact that he started his freestyle and ended it with the same syllable is amazing to me.
They both killed it. I didn't expect any less though.
Not even a Common fan particularly. That being said, this dude killed it. Always a Big fan of Roots/Guest Symbiosis. Jimmy always keeping his guests cool calm and collected, nothing better than that. Triple play team!!!
Brandon Nye, he definitely killed this the second time!
When Jimmy copied Common and said, "Yeah..he's a bad boy, man." It did not sound as dope as when Common said it. :D
ifka it was cringe worthy
OMG I said the exact same thing. I cringed so hard.
J. Saaaid Lol okay, I won't.
Zoë Harris the hell is up with this bae shit
G Kus you too young go back to cat videos
Common just Killed it !! Straight up talent, just like Black thought.
"I'm the realest in virtual reality" that's that real Chi-town flow.
Like Common is pretty good, but Tariq is Godlike. The best
Dragonferius they're both a apart of the Soulquarian troupe if musicians and producers they've been in the game together for YEARS
Both brothas are D-O-P-E.
Both top 15 imo. It’s just Black Thought is a lot higher. (#2 for me)
Common is insane and Black Thought is even more insane
Both of them killed it. That is legit skill.
Damnit Jimmy, you can't even call him Black Thought when he's rapping?!
Common's lyricism would just make you appreciate the beauty and power of the human mind even more. He's a legendary genius, in the world of hip-hop.
"COMMON SENSE, I'M THE REALEST IN VIRTUAL REALITY" I NEED HELP GETTING UP FROM THAT GOOD LORD.
Unbelievable. It would be so cool to have that talent. Any party, any hangout with friends, it would be the go to thing to do that will make you MVP in any social engagement.
This makes me reflect on the fact that I...can't even form a half coherent sentence 50% of the time in real life. Weed is fun.
Common went in on his last freestyle and Black Thought is underrated. They are both talented.
Cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger! 😂😂😂😂 love it!
😂😂😂😂
Common: I got the beat
Black Thought: Hold my beer
Common is a top ten rapper of all time
Goddamn that was unexpectedly lit
right?! lol
That is how you fucking rap!!!..This whole video was nothing but bars..These two are so skilled it takes them no effort to get into the zone and Freestyle off the dome..Its so refreshing hearing these two legends spit..Especially after hearing all the mumble rap bull shit they all ways play on the radio nowadays.
The mark of a real Emcee. The ability to genuinely free-styling. 🔥🔥🎤🎤🔥🔥
3:46 I like the way he says Hip-Hop Hip-Hop, he closes his eyes when he says hip 😂
I saw "Common freestyle" and I was like "yup"
THIS IS STILL ONE OF THE MOST EPIC MOMENTS IN COMPLETE ON THE SPOT FREESTLYE LOOL
Black thought killed it common sense knew he couldnt get outrapped on a late night show lol he came back hard
Idk... that second freestyle it might've been close. Black Thought is phenomenal off the dome, but Common's shit would be hard to follow. I know Tariq would've blasted it though.
I love common trying not to fanboy too hard when black thought drops bars
I thought Black ko´d Common in the first "round". But it was all so positive from them all, and Rashid killed the second verse. What a show. Thank you Jimmy. Tom
"three random words they've never seen before "
Judging by how Common pronounced snowplow, I'd agree with that reading.
You guys don't realize that in poetry you can change the pronunciation of the word to make it rhyme with another word. Like changing the pronunciation of the word "again(uh-gen)" to make it rhyme with pain.
