I have a kid that does that, straightens up when I'm trying to get him to do that flip. I'm a swim instructor, my students are 2.5 to 8 y/o. I have this one 8 y/o, I tried to help him flip, by rotating him one hand behind his neck and the other on his legs, which works for most students. But as soon as he went into the water, he straightened his back and neck. I feel like it's some kind of reflex action. I don't know what that reflex would serve, but all of my words about curling up into a ball were for naught.
Very helpful thanksss 👌
Try with the lane rope going around first and then standing still turning and THEN off the wall ❤❤

Sternum to knees and same forces as a leg raise for me.
