Knowing how something works it's not enough if you don't have a good enough ear to hear the difference. Edit: she can go pretty easily to an A6, live, with no enhancements. But she has never used it while singing. NE-VER.
This is why mariah and Xtina songs are so hard to sing, they both have very low lows, even too low for some male vocalist, plus high belts and crazy agility. Only great vocalists can do them justice.
NGL I'm actually more impressed by the wider ones that don't involve whistle, simply because whistle tends to be dramatically higher than most singing anyway so it makes it easier to show a wider range (I still find the whistle moments impressive just not as impressive).
