  • In this episode, we chat with Beth Hunter, founder of Foodbridge, a non-profit dedicated to shifting our food and agriculture system to more regenerative and sustainable practices. Beth has been at the forefront of environmental advocacy since she co-founded the pioneering environmental organization, Equiterre, and helped create the first CSA network in Quebec in the 1990s. In this conversation, we explore the complex issues involved in industrial farmers transitioning to more ecological practices, the role of culture in industrial vs. small-scale ag, and why we need bold collaboration with big food companies in order to create meaningful change at all scales of farming.

I feel like 'regenerative' farming is catching wind in the the minds of the consumers, they might not be a a part of these discussions now but these discussions benefit them none the less!

The problem is with logistics. They build GMO crops for longer shelf-life with tougher skins to be able to sell long after the nutrient is absent. It's all for profit. There should be a limited on miles of per every organic crop. However, this might exclude certain crops in certain areas. But, allowing endless miles must end. Spraying Organic crops is insane because they are shipped on wooden pallets. Implement Veg reusable Pallets that are not infected with harmful insects. Yes, it would cost most, but sobeit. Health should be most important, screw profits. Pay the farmers what they are worth and reward them for healthy veg.
