- An underrated season is putting it mildly with this season. 1987 West Pacific was one of the most active seasons on record for the basin. The season broke a few records, notably being the only season at the time to include 3 storms with winds of at least 185mph. It also had 10 super typhoons, nearly breaking the record of 11, which was made in 1965 and 1997. The Philippines received 2 Category 5 landfalls this year, from Betty and Nina, with Nina being the strongest. Freda, Gerald, and Holly were a trio of super typhoons at the same time in early September, with Freda and Holly being a Category 5 pair for 12 hours. Wynne and Dinah also briefly attained Category 5 intensity on their journey throughout the basin.

1987 pacific typhoon season was 25 formed to be tropical cyclone which became 24 tropical storm and the strongest of this season was Betty and one of the season that many supertyphoon to form and yes this season is underrated
Betty was Typhoon Welming, which hit Sorsogon as a supertyphoon but then months later, Nina (Sisamg) would hit Sorsogon aswell as a supertyphoon, becoming my province worst natural disaster on record with nearly a thousand people killed

The season that had spawned the worst natural disaster of my province, Supertyphoon Nina, locally known as Sisang which killed nearly a thousand people alone in Sorsogon due to storm surge and wind damage
Nina also had the second lowest in-land recorded pressure in Philippines at 909 mbars.
The same thing happened during Haiyan(Yolanda) but for Leyte and Samar.
How about herming did it cause damage

Typhoon Nina reminded me of super typhoon hayian of 2013
Nock-ten(2016) almost became a repeat of Nina when it went close to Sorsogon but gladly weakened to a Cat4 at landfall and it's Filipino name was also called NINA.

Getting retired for two times isn’t the most. The names Frank, Ian and Dora have been retired for three times, according to my notes.

Ah yes I remember my dad said to me about typhoon Nina, on Daytime it was very clear, but on night it turned into a nightmare, when morning comes he saw a truck full of dead people Buildings Collapsed and the town of Matnog Full of dead people
