If I recall correctly, the creators wanted the games ecology to feel grounded. And in the real world, all land vertebrates have 4 limbs. But elder dragons are not supposed to be natural. In the 1st game the only one with 6 limbs is Fatalis. And in a game where every other creature feels grounded, a straight up European fantasy dragon feels super weird, which was the point.
It's because, physiologically, wyverns only have four limbs, with their forelegs having developed into wings. Whereas true dragons have forelegs/arms, hindlegs, and a secondary scapular set of forelimbs that developed into wings. Dragons also *fucking hate* wyverns, which is why they wiped them from existence here on Earth. Couldn't abide the little halfbreeds. You could ask a dragon if you believe me, but good luck getting one to let you find them. Dragons hid from Man for a reason, you know. 🗡🔫☢
Oh my god these designsare amazing. Granted Venusaur sounds like pain to fight against, but those dual typ ailment monsters were always a pain, but three? That sounds like it will be one hell of a ride. And the mega charizard was such a nice touch. Love charizard. Its my favourite starter. So thank you for that amazing design
It would be cool if during the venosaur fight, when you knock it over you can collect rare plants/berries/mushrooms similar to zinogre and his fulgur bugs. Also when enraged charizard’s wings could harden and turn more of a gray color and he would weaponize them. I’m thinking that this is how he would use flying type moves and steel wing from Pokémon.
I was thinking for Charizard's tail that it would be used more like a rattlesnake's. It would rattle the tail when threatened and release sparks and/or gases from a sac in its tail and be ignited by the rattling scales. Then, if the tail would hit you, the scales would rattle together furiously and cause the flames to burst out more. This could be especially prevalent with an enraged or old Charizard; the latter you could have a lot of fun with and have it use various attacks centering around the control of its flaming tail.
Venasaur might be a good monster to have in an area that also has a lot of small/medium monsters. If you don't clear up the small monsters b4 fighting Venasaur then you will have to fight more of them when it calls in the small monsters WOW love the idea u had for Charizards tail fire
Speaking of weapons, it would be sick to see you come up with some weapon designs based off of your pre-existing adaptations of Pokémon as monster hunter monsters; I'd say armor designs too, but then it would be even more work if you wanted to add armor set skills
I like your idea for Charizard's tail. My take on how his tail could work is this: When angered His tail will be flaming, this would give him the burning property that Teostra has when 'charged,' damaging the hunter if they were close to it. Then when not flaming, it would be safe to be next to and attack without being damaged in return. Pretty much how you explained it. This is where my take differs. I also think that the scales could get flung around like Seregios bladescales or Nergigante spikes. These have the burning property if his tail was flaming when he shot them out, but are dormant if not flaming. If dormant, they can be ignited by his fire-breath / fire-ball hitting them. This means, when angered or ignited, he has area denial. But it is balanced in the fact it does not always happen. For tail break, it would be similar to how you said. once the tail is broken, it does not get cut off. Rather it breaks the fling-able scales; making them unable to be ignited if shot out when dormant. And they would be weaker in damage if shot out when his angered state is active. This adds to the balancing of the mechanic. (Side note, I do think you could of gotten away with giving Charizard his arms. Since Gore Magala is not an elder dragon, having 4 limbs and 2 wings/wingarms, I say its free real estate for special case boys. And I think Charizard could be a special case boy)
A way to balance Charizard's tail cut would be to make it so bureaucratic and complicated to get that most players would just not bother it unless they need the item
I love your designs, specially char for a lore and monster role adaptation for mh. However I cant help but feel that charizard has the PERFECT body structure for fatalis. The fat body, stubby back legs, long neck and 2 horns. I think i’d like to see it as the weakest elder dragon, with a lot of untapped potential lost to ancient times.
Body type wise yes Fatalis would be perfect for charizard but I’ve already seen another artist do that concept so i wanted to make sure mine didnt take that same approach
I really like how your style is progressing with these videos! I think you should lean more into the monster hunter design conventions to make it really fit that world.
I’ve recently started watching your videos and as a fellow monster hunter and Pokémon it has bringer me joy watching these amazing artworks, I wish you luck on 5k subscribers since you’re already at 2k. Since you’ve done a bunch of Pokémon already I was wondering if you can do ferraligator as he was my fav starter
Love these designs! Venusaur using it's vines to protect its rear is a really interesting concept. I think that would be really cool to fight. Having it burrowed with just the plant as a final fight stage does not sound fun though. I like the concept, but that feels like an opening to the fight more than a finale. Like, I picture stage 1 just being you Vs the plant, and you have to hit a damage threshold before the beast itself seems you enough of a threat to come up and fight you. Kind of like the opening of the Flaming Espinas fight in Rise, if you've seen that. Otherwise, I love all your ideas. These all seem like fun and interesting monsters that I would thoroughly enjoy battling.
Another thought that I had just after I posted this! Mega Blastoise could be a deviant of regular, where it's a version of Blastoise that had one of its cannons broken, so the remaining cannon warps and gets bigger to compensate, leading to a monster that is more top heavy and so relies more on heavy cannon jets to fight.
Hey bro been watching your videos for a little while and im really enjoying them! And if I may give you a little suggestion for a video, I think it would be really cool if you turned Digimon into monsters from monster hunter in your art style. If not, thats cool too, either way, I’m enjoying wonderful monster hunters content from you.
I LOVE these Pokemon/MH videos! This idea is awesome, just like your drawing skills. Keep it up, would like to see some more videos like this! Some inspiration for some future videos maybe? These would be cool Mh Monsters: Machamp, Onix/Steelix, Marowak, Kabutops, Pinsir, Shiftry, Exploud, Hydreigon, Golisopod, Grimmsnarl
It would be cool if all of Charizard’s fire attacks used his tail, so like he fireballs but he just produces a flammable substance in his mouth which he fires at you through his tail to ignite.
Really awesome!! Gonna admit that was expecting that Charizard had some type of relation with Fatalis, like one kind of "imitatitor" or something like that Hey, what if you use other sagas creatures for make Monster Hunter creatures? Oooh, you could have stayed true to the original design philosophy of Pokemon and monster hunter by using the gigantimax Charizard with a little bit of anjanath. Give him a set of arms, but a set of organs on the back that could ignite to look like wings.
Did I hear Seregios? I like Seregios, but MAN did it get tiring for Steve to crash ALL my high-rank hunts in MH4U's story quests. Now if Mega Charizard X is the subspecies, then Mega Charizard Y is the _variant._

Venusaur: Fanged Wyvern native to deep tropical regions they specialize in hunting Neopterons and Temnocerans using the plant that symbiotically grows on the beasts back to lure in prey with the sweet scent it produces. Also side note I imagine the hammer for Charizard to basically be the tail tip but when you charge it on the second charge the scales pop out and on the third it ignites on fire

@@pommedeter7407 Fair enough. I've never played rise before so I didn't know about them. I'm not saying it's a defining trait but 6 limbs still a common feature among them though. But I doubt a regular six limbed wyvern could exist.
Ya know, I've never noticed only elder dragons have arms and wings... weird. Also love the extra blue on charizard. Excellent design choice!👍
It’s because true dragons typically have 2 or more legs and a pair of wings

Yeah, but even Yama Tsukami and Nakarkos have only 4 limbs. The moving things near their mouths are highly developed whiskers or something
