🙋♀️ ABOUT ME: Learning about your ancestors is fun! It’s detective work at its best. My professional genealogy business, Ancestry Consulting by Aimee and my You Tube channel were born out of a desire to help others discover their family history. I have been working on my genealogy since a teenager and have been helping others as a professional genealogist for almost 10 years. Whether breaking through a genealogy brick wall, determining parents through DNA matches, beginning genealogy research, or discovering your family origins, I want to help you build your family tree! Happy hunting!
Check out these other genealogy RUclipsrs: Genealogy TV, Family History Fanatics, Geneavlogger, Ancestry (Barefoot Genealogist), Genealogy with Amy Johnson Crow, and of course, keep watching me, Aimee Cross - Genealogy Hints. Danielle Romero is doing a great job telling her story of discovering her family, specifically "Finding Lola" on her channel NYTN.

I watch all your videos and really appreciate your content! Yesterday, I took my 3 year old son to our veterans cemetery to visit my grandparents graves and others we knew were there. Then we took a drive out to the middle of nowhere to a small town to visit a very old cemetery that I had discovered had some of our ancestors a couple weeks ago. While there, I found the page on the site and discovered we had 14 relatives there including my 4th and 5th great grandparents! They weren't all buried together and had I not had this resource, I would have missed the older generation of them! Their stones were SO old and barely legible. I'm not sure how many more years they will last but so glad I was able to photograph our son with them! I saved the page to my home screen and can't wait to continue to discover more. Thank you for that tip!
Thank you so much! And you have made my day! Of course I’m glad the videos help you but this example is terrific!!! Love that the video came just in time to help you this Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for commenting.
Received an email about an ancestor in an East Texas cemetery. That lead to other finds and I played around on the site a bit last night. Thanks for the video which helps explain things AND the head's up on things to come (all of which is very exciting!).
You bet @Robin S! I am excited about it too because I have don't that thing where I was in a cemetery and missed someone buried there!
Fantastic video and great tip at the very end re Family Search - it's now saved, TYSM Aimee, x
Glad it was helpful Sara! Thank you!
@@AncestryAimee It was Aimee. I've also been through your entire website, and am going to show my husband your YT tonight. May I send you an email about something I think you could be interested in, please, as I see your email on your website?
@@saragrayson7919 of course!
Such an interesting feature. I was on familysearch the other day and saw that they were potentially adding this new feature that determines if the people in the photo are related, for those photos of your ancestors with people you can’t identify. My grandmother had way too many scrapbooks so this would be an amazing feature. I really think familysearch is such an amazing site that is often overlooked.
I agree! They work hard to make family history engaging!
This is really cool and helpful! Family Search had sent me a email last night that said I had 35 ancestors in the Old North Cemetery in Truro Ma. Your video explained this new feature in Family Search.
Glad to hear! Thanks @Robert Howe!
Just in time for Memorial Day. Here's a link to the site on FamilySearch: www.familysearch.org/eurona/travel/sites
I am loving your videos. Thank you for your help. I've been researching ancestry since 2018.
Thank you @Karen Deck!
Really great video Aimee!!!!
Thank you!
FamilySearch Cemeteries can be found in the large footer when not logged in.
Thank you for adding that Tim
Thanks!
Thank you Robert!
Cool feature. Thx for the heads up.
You’re welcome!
Great information. Thank you. Thanks FamilySearch.
You’re welcome!
Great information. Can't wait to try.
Comment again about what you think. Thanks Denise!
I found the Cemeteries page but I'm not seeing all the options you're showing. This is really interesting, hope they get it all finished soon!
Those options are only on a few sites but they are hoping to have them on more very soon!
Or, how many times have we been to a cemetery and the relatives have no headstone. What was worse, 8 people buried in a plot, in 8 graves. Note in book of burials was "someone buried" with a date, no name. So each geave had a family member for certain, and a few had no record of a name. I asked how this could have happened. Response was: Sometimes we get really busy.
Haha. Too true! 😂
Good information. I have been volunteering tp take pic for Find A Grave for many years. I have been out of commission for a while so may have missed a few shows but I will catch up. Also still thinking about your project. Thanks for what you do.
Thank you Lynn!!
I can’t wait to try this. Thank you.
You bet!
Interesting, and could be helpful someday, but doesn't seem very accurate right now. It's pulling PID's for some ancestors but not others who are in the same cemetery. The locations in Find a Grave for all the profiles are exactly the same and yet it lists my GF but not my GM or Father in one cemetery. Another cemetery lists my GGM but not GGF.
Interesting
That's awesome
I think so too
I am one of those new people to this looking up family thing. So I've been randomly searching for help and information and tips and tricks. I stumbled upon this video this morning and I decided to give it a look and even being signed in it was not showing I had family members in the cemetery. So I was wondering if I am missing a setting or maybe there's more information to read about it?
You have to sign in and be part of the family tree. It will only show you relations in the tree so if you don’t have much in the tree, you won’t have matches. Great question! Sorry it wasn’t clear!
I have a tree. I have created people for my tree. I was signed in. It is not life-or-death but it's frustrating when something is advertised one way and you don't get the same results. With that said I am also understanding that when something is new there might be bugs to remove.
@@musthavemuzk I understand. First know I don’t work for FamilySearch. FamilySearch’s tree is a collaborative tree and you will have better results when you connect to people in the tree which will then extend the tree automatically further. When you add someone to your tree look for them in the tree already, don’t just type them in as a new individual. Take advantage of the volunteers at the local FamilySearch libraries, they are all over the world. Or use their help services online. Good luck!
They’ve been working over there, lots of upgrades!
Yes!
This video was so helpful! I just did a Google search for Familysearch and the cemeteries, monuments and memorial sites for it come up. I have found alot of information. In the cemeteries I have search it doesn't say people related to me it just says like 51 people found and gives me their information. Are these people related to me or just people who are buried there? Thanks!
That’s probably people in the location unless it says they are related to you at the top.
This is so exciting🎉
I think so too! 😊
