    What a great video! I was abe to spend a few hours there in Juy unexpectedly and I was not sure exacty what to do when I was there. Luckily I had heard to take a thumb drive to save anything I found and I had added a custom tag in ancestry to some of my people "Docs avail at FSL" so I was abe to pull that list quicky and get those documents. I wish I had this video before I went it has such great tips. The people there were so nice and very helpful and welcoming.

      Glad it was helpful! Crista Cowan adds a similar tag for records at FamilySearch. Great idea!

    Got to go this past May and despite “preparing” I was still incredibly overwhelmed. Got to spend a week and still barely scratched the surface. Can’t wait to go again some day!

    I just received new calling as assistant in our Ward Family History Center. I am a tad, overwhelmed, but have basic research knowledge. This video about the family search library is so exciting. As I’m retired, I need to make a point to visit this library in the very near future. Your video has encouraged me about doing so. Thank you.

    Thanks - timely for me. I am going there in February 24 with a research group. I haven't been there since 2018 and it looks different. Great hints. Thanks for sticking with your video's.

    Aimee thank you so much for sharing all this great information. I wasn’t aware of that Memory Lane section!! What a great feature they added. My dad has some 16mm films I have no idea what is on them. Not sure if they would have that type of equipment but nice to know the others are available. I always learn something new watching your videos. Thank you so much.

    I have been there when my husband had a meeting in SLC (18 yrs ago) & that is what got me started with my search. I didn't accomplish much but it got me excited about finding out more.
    Thank you, Family Search Library.

    great info thanks. do you know if local branches of this main library can get copies of docs from SLC through an inter-library system? same for books - can a local branch get a book from SLC loaned to them for local viewing? thx

    • @AncestryAimee
      @AncestryAimee  Год назад +1

      Great question! No, I don’t believe they do have an interlibrary system for books. Sometimes a local chapter might have a book. If you look at the locations drop down just above the call number area it will show where that book can be found.
      Most of the microfilm is available at the local libraries if it has been digitized. If it is a reel it is the same as the books. The local library might have it. Check with the drop down menu.

    Love your channel! I'm learning so much! I have a question, though. I've come across a friend whose mother grew up in a foster home. Is there a way to find foster home records leading back to her parents?

    • @AncestryAimee
      @AncestryAimee  Год назад

      So glad you like the channel. That’s kind of complicated because it depends on the state and the laws there. It also kind of depends on whether her mother is still alive. She may have better luck in getting those records. I guess it also depends on whether it was sealed. I would recommend contacting the county where they lived and seeing what they say

    • @robertvandette6964

      Ok, thanks for the information. It's New York state if that helps at all.

      New York can be a pain but I don’t know about foster care there. Have her mom reach out.
