Thanks for revising my memories Mark. I used to spend a lot of time fishing the slicks on Christmas Bay as well as any oysters and structure. It's been years though and I did it in a small Jon boat. I now have the Autopilot 120 in the Steel camo and spend my salt time in the marshes of the Chesapeake Bay, especially at the point where the Potomac River meets the Chesapeake at Point Lookout MD. I also have my Bates Hundo on an Old 18 7ft Medium Light and I caught my first large guy this weekend, a 32 inch Rockfish (Striped Bass) on one of the Z Man Prawn Stars. Try them out as they are tough, realistic and less than the VooDu shrimp lures in cost. That Striper was a ton of fun on that rod and reel. I now have almost a dozen Old 18 Rods and more to come. I'm hoping to get home down there sometime in 2025 and drag the Kayak down with me. We have had a massive Redfish invasion this year on the Chesapeake and they are everywhere on the bay and in good numbers too.
Yeah bud really nice to see you out there , my dad and few other guys built one of those camp houses out there , lots of memories as a kid spending the weekends at the camp , we use to catch nice one's right off the pier
Dang it looks so hot! Hopefully cooler weather is on the horizon. And great fishing! That red was beautiful! Will you be able to keep flounder this fall??
There are a couple of gravel reefs in Christmas bay that were the result of dive bomber training in WW II. They drove pilings in the outline of ships and dropped bags of rocks and gravel on the targets.
hey Mark i have a question, i see on the website that the rod you are using is rated for 4-6lb line and you mention you are using 20lb braid. Is it strong enogh for that much differce? ill love to get something light like that too and being able to handle the reds like you do. thanks :)
You can get away with using the stronger braid by backing off your drag. By doing this, there’s not much strain on your rod. Everything works in conjunction with each other. 👍
What # braid are you using on the bates Ive just purchased one . Also would you recommend varivas line over power pro. If so why if you don’t mind me asking.
Bro great content but don’t be telling people what bay your fishing in in the title man! Your blowing out spots not because your posting videos but because your telling people exactly where to go.

That’s a great rod and reel setup I bet.
Sunrise shot between 3:09 - 3:26 is spectacular. Good fishing area too.
Thank you 🤙
"Yeah, that's uh, that's a shark." 😂 the Marshes are already loading up! My favorite time of the year!

I love that area. Great video
Thanks 👍

I’ve been wanting to try out Christmas bay! Any suggestions on where to launch out of without worrying about getting broken in to?
Bates reel?? Those are NICE!
I’m liking it the more I use it.

Great video as always. What kind of mic are you using on your GoPro?
I’m using an Ace Pro camera and Rode Lav mic.
A shark was trying to eat the fish I had on a stringer in that same spot a few weeks ago! 😅
😂 that’s the first thing I thought of. All the waders.
Mantap bosku👍
Thank you 👍

I’m using 20# varivas. It’s thinner than my old 10# power pro and it doesn’t make that noise with the guides when fighting a fish.
What type of measuring board do you use ?
Ketch
Hi do you use moderate fast action or fast action?
I use UL power with a mod/fast tip.
Where did you get that small anchor pole from? Homemade?
It’s a Power Pole Micro Spike cut in half.
Oil slick smell of watermelon in the morning.
🙌 the best.
