    I don't think the UI text should be so small - if I have to squint to read text, I often can't be bothered to. The small text is made worse by making it white on grey.
    It does significantly detract from the aesthetics of the game, and I don't think they will change it prior to release.
    As for the changing ages and civilisations, I think Firaxis will handle this well - there's only 3 ages, and they're not letting players simply morph from Celts to Indians - it looks like there's some continuity and preconditions to it.

    • @GamerGrampz

      Yeah I'm actually excited for the changing of ages the way they have it-- totally pumped. But it's the Humankind aspect of it that has a sour taste in my mouth.

    Every time they show gameplay I can't help but think that it looks way too urban. Cities and districts taking up 70%-80% of the area of your empire. Where is all the farmland? The forests? The mines?

    Hey I totally respect your PoV and thoughts about the game, the UI and art does look very "alpha", but why so much hate for Humankind? Like calling it a "bad rip off"? I'm not even a mega fan of the game, only played a few times, but I thought it was great for what it was. I think more people trying out and experimenting with the Civ formula is a GOOD thing, not a bad one!

    • @GamerGrampz
      @GamerGrampz  20 дней назад +1

      That's the part I FUCKING HATE. I'm sorry but I love the history aspect of the game and while yes certain cultures get assimilated by others and maybe that's where they are sort of going with it I don't know if I can get behind the way its being carried out... or at least appears to be.
      It's hard to say at this point so early in the media coverage but that's probably my biggest problem with the gameplay reveal.
      I like being able to start as Rome in the ancient era and being able to build their empire to stand the test of time-- it's what every civ game has been about.
      So I obviously have to hold out until I see how it feels in game with mechanics etc, but I'm not thrilled out the concept

Playing as egypt and conquering america or playing as india and going to the moon is the whole reason i play civ, and changing that aspect is like bmw deciding to only make motorcycles for me. I miss the civ 5 scenes where when you talk to a leader they have their own environment they're in and they're talking directly to you. civ 6 stepped back on this but it was still to you, in this it looks like a bunch of poorly rendered theater kids interpretive dancing at each other whenever you open diplomacy. The models look bad, the fact that they removed the "talking directly to you" aspect is weird, the little poses and movements they do look like theater interpretations.
    The game looks pretty and the rivers thing is great, but I am disappointed by this game and probably won't touch it unless it changes alot before release. They removed the history in a history game by making you shift from egypt to mongolia to whatever, ruining the historical theming and making the gameplay less constistent and grounded. They removed the city management in a city management game by simplifying and automating everything. Sure, it looks pretty, but I signed up to play civ, not humankind. That game was ass and people didn't like it for a reason.
    The one thing I didn't like that I know if done well enough I could grow to like is the separation of the ages. It sounds like it's three separate games now. I don't like how "everyone will be reset to be level each age". I get they don't like the snowballing, but it makes doing good seem less rewarding if I know as soon as Exploration comes along that everyone will be caught up with me. That said, if implemented well enough, I'm sure I could become accustomed to this. This is the one part that I think is "new good, old bad" that is part of the meme.
    I understand the cycle of "ew new game bad, okay new game coming out, old game good now" or "it'll be good after the dlc", I did that with civ 6 at first, the art style threw me off but I grew to like it as the gameplay drew me in. But this is worse than that, this isn't "oh, this is too cartoony for my taste, but it's still a decent game" this is foundation level stuff being ripped out and replaced with the things people didn't like about a game that failed. This isn't a civ game, this is humankind. And because it's foundation level stuff thats wrong with the game, and other things are now built on top of it, it would take upheaving the entire thing to fix it and I don't think that simple dlc is going to do that. This needs to be uprooted and redone, because I and many others aren't interested in playing humankind again. And I don't believe they can do that before february, or that they will even try to do it. I'll going to keep an eye on it, see where it goes, because they proved me wrong with civ 6, even if it was a lesser issue, and they haven't done me wrong yet. I'll see what more they reveal, see if they attempt to fix this or not. But I don't think I'm going to buy this day one, or at all unless the foundation of this game is redone and fixed. It's not a "humankind did it bad, civ vii will do it right" issue, I fundamentally didn't like the concept, regardless of implementation, you are taking the civilizations out of civilization by making them change and unrecognizable every handful of turns.
    I'm not writing this game off entirely, but it would take a damn near perfect implementation to make this current game plan work. They haven't done me wrong yet, so I'm giving it a chance, but this reveal makes me less hopeful about the game, when it should have made me more.

    • @GamerGrampz
      @GamerGrampz  20 дней назад

      Thanks for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and well thought out comment. The city management thing I think is still there-- you just control everything from the city itself rather than having a builder go chop your lumber or build your mine it's controlled from inside. Time will tell how this feels and goes over and functions-- until more gameplay and such is revealed it's hard to know for sure one way or the other.
      I definitely agree with you on the Humankind being ass part lol
      Yeah I agree with you on the Ages system-- I for one am excited about that part so I think I'm in the boat of I actually am currently feeling how you think you might get to eventually. I don't know what your Civ experience is, or how you fared in Civ 6 but for me-- the only real competition was myself because the deity level AI was so piss poor once you learned the ins and outs of the game mechanics to the point where it was just a matter of how fast I was going to win my victory condition not if I was going to or not.
      THe funnest part of the game for me was always the early game and while a big part of this was because starting fresh and building from scratch is fun, another large chunk of my enjoyment came from the Deity AI being so overpowered where I had to race to catch up to them in whatever victory condition I was chasing.
      By having the "reset" of the ages in a sense, I get to have 3 separate distinct fun races where they will be overpowered and I am further pressured to get better and be good because I want to come out of that Era number one.
      I wasn't a fan of humankind by any means-- I was originally excited about it, but as I saw more coverage and gameplay I realized it wasn't anything I wanted to spend money or time on. That being said, the original concept was appealing to me so maybe it's possible that they will have a spin on it that does work for me because ultimately I do have a lot of faith in this development team for just civ 6 alone... the transformation from Civ Vanilla to where it stands today is remarkable.

      Religious victory felt so unfleshed out and repetitive compared to the other main 3 victory conditions. You literally are just building tons of the exact same three units the entire game which you get access to very early in the game. I hope religion is still in civ 7 and works the same or similar to how it did in civ 6 just simply without the win condition for converting all civilizations.
