And she isn't like Garfiel and Emilia who have lots of potential. She trained for years and is a 1 horned oni but has only reached her level so it's safe to say she likely wouldn't have a power up. 3. How would it be possible for Tappei to forget Rems memories if he is purposely writing her to not have them? Also just because a goal exists doesn't mean it will or can be accomplished. For all we know Subaru may have to come to terms with the idea of Rem never coming back. Now do I think that will happen? Not really. Maybe a 40% chance. The importance of Rems memory loss/coma was to show that RBD won't isn't a guarantee to save someone and that the checkpoints can happen after one has already been lost which adds stakes as many people may think there are none as the story progresses so Tappei may leave her memory less. Especially since as a contributor to the Emilia camp she brings little that isn't brought by others members in greater amounts.

It is obvious, for better or for worse that Tappei left Rem in a coma to make his waifu Emilia more popular. I never disliked Emilia, in fact I like the character and the evolution she has had, but I feel that Tappei simping Emilia makes me see that her development is a bit... forced, I know it's not completely forced, but it's just a bit tedious to see how the author goes simp on Emilia. I know that Tappei also has some appreciation for Rem because he himself said that it was impossible to imagine a story without her. Even if this is seen as an outright attempt to make Rem stop being the best girl, I think it will be an important part of her development later on. That her goals are practically to please her loved ones and be like them isn't all bad, but it's not all good either. She should have more identity and more development outside of appreciating Subaru and Ram, she should grow in many aspects like her self love and stop her obsession for Subaru (I don't mean she should stop loving him, but she shouldn't idealize him as a hero) maybe Subaru will be Rem's hero, but Subaru can't be everyone's hero. I hope that Rem gets his memories back but also that this "development" that he has had in arc 7 is maintained, that he learns from both parts and that in the end he remains a more complete character, with his love for Subaru but with his own goals apart from him and Ram.
