Not too long ago, Guerlain used to sell smaller, more concentrated versions of almost all of their fragrances. They were called extraits, then later parfums. Imagine treating yourself to the fragrance you love only in a more coveted, luxurious and elegant variety. The extrait bottles were not merely miniatures, they were the historically accurate original bottles of in which the fragrances were released to the world. The extraits themselves were not simply more concentrated versions, but reworked as to render a more exclusive and sophisticated variation on the same scent. They used to cost three times as much for three times less quantity, but, oh, the decadence of owning something so precious. Remember dabbing yourself only for truly special occasions and treasuring that bottle, which after all, did not come cheap but was indeed for your pleasure alone. This is what made Guerlain. It felt like stealing that shimmer and sparkle just for a moment and feeling like you belonged. Now they sell 125ml of extrait in a boring all the same bee bottle for more than 1000Euros starting price.
I feel bad that I keep on forgetting about this scent (and many others…too much perfume noise). I need to resniff it again. I remembered when it was first launched and it was exciting to hear about a new mainstream release.

Oh, don’t feel bad. It’s a very nice scent but as usual they’re not great at promoting the good ones
