If you think about it, Common World Domination and this song basically tackle the same problem but with different answers. CWD is basically "we can't let uniqueness die out" while Unique Parade here is "Being different is overrated, let's stop forcing people to be unique and let them live their lives in peace"
It's more like "People in current times are trying to be unique so much it becomes definitive characteristic of their personality, ironically making them more common than "common" is supposed to be"

It's a bit of both, I think. Rin is saying that the crowd is chasing after an idea of being unique. Miku herself is only following the path of those before her, given the rules that she should "speak her mind" even though she clearly doesn't understand why or what that does for her. She manages to battle her way to the front, but doesn't know how to lead, and realizes that she CAN'T lead, because the pack isn't following HER, they're following the idea of uniqueness. Rin on the other hand goes against the grain - she believes that there's nothing inherently wrong with being average, and that most of these people should accept that that's all they are - and if they really do want to be unique, they need to prove they understand what being unique really IS without just following a mold made by the leader.

I think what keeps me coming to this video (other than the fact that it just rocks), is the character design. The gradual shift from the beginning design (0.35) to what we end up with (2.53) is incredible. I just feel like I can learn something from a character design standpoint by just watching this character.

なんなら人間の暗い部分を表現できるのはお前だけじゃないんだぞって意地と、元々ジャンルが似てるのにさらに絵師まで被せるところに、どれだけ近づけても確実に差別化される自分の特徴への圧倒的自信があるような気がしてかっこいいと思った
