- Will It Rally? This web series from The Team O'Neil Rally School asks the only car question that really matters: Will it Rally? Ride along as we test the limits of different vehicles on our skidpad and slalom areas, before putting them against the stopwatch on a mountainous rally stage here at Team O'Neil.
In this episode we take out a 'slightly' used Mid 2000's Kia Sedona on a beautiful fall day. Let's see how the MiniVan stacks up against the cars on our rallycross course and full rally stages!

Goes to show even a minivan can look bad ass in the hands of a skilled driver
Boring car companies need to start hiring this dude to drive for their commercials, it just might help boost sales
He should have a clause that it has to be the cars,vans or proper offroaders in their range. Using his skills to promote those stupid softroaders and crossovers would be criminal.
@@markwright3161 I can agree with that, crossovers are terrible SUVs because they’re too small to hold anything and they suck as cars because they can potentially not handle as well and they’re painful to look at

There is just something beautiful about a beater minivan blasting through the woods at angles it should never be at. It may have been the slowest dry timed run, but it was the most fun to watch.
Bless you for giving this old dog one last good run through the woods before she goes to her final rest.

Funny you say that, because when I was there earlier this year, one of the guys powered through a corner and the water truck went up on 3 wheels!
When I was in the Air Force deployed to SA during the Gulf War, I did lots of donuts with a water truck. Go POL (Fuel Specialist)!

As the proud (?) owner of a 2005 Kia Sedona, I can confirm that they've got a surprising amount of move and groove. They're even more fun if you take out the rear seats.

@@katiejon17the suspension is quit forgiving and the seat comfy, also the weight help them on snowy road
3 years late, but we also have a Kia Sedona (2012) and I can tell you this car makes me smile every time I hit the gas. And I've driven other more performing cars, but there's something about the Sedona that makes you smile.
My mom has one of these. I often treated it like a really car on the dirt roads in AZ.

seeing a few of the late 90s and early 2000s SUVs go around the course would be fun. honda CRVs, Rav4s, even a bmw X5 would be cool to see.
Mazda had a small suv shared with Ford, I believe.

My first car I rallied was a 97 rav4.
My dad once ripped a BMW X3 so hard there was grass on the roof 😂😂
So it has crappy tires, transmission and shocks, open diff and a lot less power, but somehow it was only a bit slower than a V8 charger. I guess FWD is not as bad as people say.

@@isaacsanchez7317 would you say it’s the better minivan around these days? We are saving for one and live in the same area as the channel is set. Everybody talks about how great Toyota’s and Honda’s are... but in northern NH we need something that can handle crappy winter roads.
@@katiejon17 we used to have a Carnival LX but it had an extreme body roll and soft suspension, it bounced every time it hit a bump and the engine drank more fuel than a jet engine, wasn't really enjoyable tbh
Wyatt makes it look like a rally prepped WRX out there. Proof that driver mod is the most valuable investment you can make in going fast.
That was heck a fun to watch.
Maybe even more so than the Can Am.
With cars like this the question mark behind, Will it rally? is really warranted.
Part 2 with all the interior removed to see what 400 pound less will get you?

Less overhanging weight quicker recovery if the ass and a proportionaly harder rear menaing less body roll and more snappy at the back.

We owned a 2015 Kia Sedona for a year. Ours was a nightmare with electrical issues keeping it at the Kia Dealership for more than 60 days. BUT, what an awesome motor! The V-6 was a powerhouse and sounded AWESOME at full wail! Because of dependability, it was sent down the road and replaced with a reliable Toyota.
Lol, that was hysterical. I was looking for aftermarket parts for my sedona, and this video popped up. Glad I watched it, I'm even happier with mine now. Thank you!

Love that generation Sedona. They are tanks, drive well, tough, reliable, safe, and easy to repair in addition to being comfortable. I bought a 2006 same color as the one in this video except it is fully loaded with leather, heated seats, and in good shape. It was a spur of the moment purchase after my wife totaled our new car and we needed something ASAP since insurance takes too long and the closest rental was five hours away. Anyways, rather than selling it, we decided to keep it, and have transported our kids safely for over 2 years now. Honestly, I would totally purchase another of the same generation with really low miles without worry.
Had a neighbor with one as well and he abused the ever-living piss out of it for several years. I still see it running around town.
Edit: Those funky noises are the control links and are known for going out. Honestly, just pry those off and it will be fine for rallying, haha!!!
I.have a 2006 kia sedona, 260k miles and still runs very good
The explanation really shows how less of just a mix of turns and slides it is and how much more of technical input and the results of those inputs Are. Wyatt got mad skill

The Sedona seems pretty level rotating through the cones and corners.. even so more than most SUV's

I’m in the uk and I have the 3.0 diesel version of this exact same van. 185bhp but weighs tons. It’s slow at setting off with massive lag of the turbo but when it kicks in it shoves you down the road with lots and lots of pulling power. You’ll be surprised. I’ve towed all sorts
get something old from the 60 to 80!!! :P love the show, the minivan was loots of fun!

I had one of these..my son, who was 15 at the time...i gave him the keys to drive it home through a most memorable ice snowstorm one day...we had a jeep spin out in front of us..he passed other 4wd getting stuck or sliding off the roads....it was a thrill! The boy is destined to rally..stayed with Kia and now have a Soul..So will a Soul rally?

That manual mode is more of a suggestion i drove my dads 2014 sedona in oddly a similar color my biggest gripe driving it was how jumpy the gas petal was by the time we sold it it had 300k on it the paint was shot the steering rack leaked like a siv the trans was missing its shift times and it went through drive tires quickly due to a uncontrolable tire ware for an unknown reason
I'd love to see this with a fresh set of AT Tires...:P

I was very very skeptical when my son send me one, and I'm an auto tech and a truck guy , and I've to say that I'm impressed, not only for the power but how simple it is under the hood, and the suspension is very easy to work on as well... I was expecting a ton of wires and sensors and that wasn't the case, the transmission manual mode pulls like a sun of a gun... out of 250 horse power which also I didn't expect, the curve weight left me a bit worried, is almsot as heavy as a v8 SUV, so I'm going to upgrade the suspension, lift it and get better tires, there's where I think the automaker didn't do good, because it needs tires with more load rate...
Thanks for the honest and unbiased assessment , I may get one to carry my packages around...

Do a video of before and after of Welded fwd differential. And review it. I have heard good opinions on it(in gravel racing/RallyX), would love to hear yours

i thin it could be at least 2 second faster if it would have manual, ditch the seats and decent tires. So it would be quicker than charger :)
The charger I drive is an AWD 5.7 V8. 2019 police package. Might be a fun one to try out if you can get your hands on one. It’s what I drive for work so I’d love to see how it’d fair.
Thrilled the Will It Rally? series is back. Slightly disappointed there weren't six people in the minivan or, at the very least, a bunch of juice boxes and stray Cheerios flying around during the test.
