I love how unlike MW 1 and 2 it just throws you in right away, without any tutorial. They didn't treat us as idiots this time, and I can respect that.

Don't you guys remember that most, if not, all of the American east coast had their electronics completely knocked out. It's like MW3 forgot most of what happened in the last game, especially the Rangers, which were alive the last time we saw them, yet we don't see them in this game. And what about the Shadow Company? Shepherd's personal PMC. Did they just disappear after his death? I'm confused.
yeah that bothered me a bit, although were not given a timeline for this mission, could be before the nuke as well. Lot of plotholes i wish they filled, but this also happened after that activision/sledgehammer thing so little things probably got overlooked.
Wouldve liked to see more US vs TF141 type stuff, since TF141 did launch a nuke at the east coast for better or worse wasnt too clear which side it really helped as it prob knocked out more US based assets. Also besides TF141s knowledge of Shepherds coverup, they did kill a US General to the rest of the world.
Andromeda Unfortunately, Activision fired the team that was working in the previous MW Games, so they had to hire another team to make MW3, although they didn't have enough time since the deadline is coming close for the release of the game, so they got Sledgehammer games to help them with the production. It's a really bad move they made since they were planning to continue the plot from MW2. (Not the official one that MW3 used , the one the original Team was going to do.)
I swear this mission is the exact reason I want this game or at least the campaign remastered. There’s something about New York being a total warzone that’s just beautiful lol
It's impossible for any nation to attack the US because we've got two oceans to both sides of the country, and inhospitable wastelands to the north and south. Besides Russia having only 144 million people, nobody has enough transport equipment to make it to North America in the first place.

Usually there isn't like about 50 US submarines or 5 Aircraft Carriers guarding the NYC port, otherwise the Russians would get their ass kicked. Think before you comment.

As a native New Yorker, I'm very impressed by the detail here. I actually used to work in the building seen at 8:17. In the game it's called the Crown Building, but it's called the Trump Building (also known as 40 Wall Street) in real life, though it's self explanatory why they couldn't call it the Trump Building in the game. The street names are accurate, the details of the Stock Exchange and Federal Hall, the hot dog carts, and the subway (the only inaccurate detail I can spot is that the game says the 4 and 5 lines stop in front the of the Stock Exchange, while in reality it is the J and Z lines). I wish they did more missions in NY.
I wish the campaign in general was longer, because it was so freaking good. But you’re right, the detail is awesome. This level is the entire reason I fell in love with COD (until ghosts).
There's a saying that there exist two types of American landscape, one is New York, the other is the rest of America. It attempts to emphasize how New York with its unique metropolitan culture differentiates itself from the low-density suburban environment accommodating many of the country's middle class. This is what I love about the mw series. even after all that fighting in DC and Virginia we are still trying to push them off American soil in MW3
Agreed. My only issue with MW3 is I wish we had more battles in NYC instead of just ONE (well two technically) but it felt too rushed at the beginning etc imo. I would of liked just 2 or 3 more missions in NYC to finalize the effort getting the Russians out of here, I loved how MW3 started off though, great game👍👍
I think it’d be cool to play as the rangers and have a continuation of the story about pushing the rest of the Russian forces out of the US

I mean, you've got that great one about the couple whose house was burgled, but they thought the guys hadn't stolen anything, then they developed their photos a few weeks later, and found out that the robbers had taken photographs of themselves stuffing toothbrushes up their asses.

I actually wouldn't mind a remaster of MW3, the campaign was a good sequel to MW2 and it wrapped the whole storyline up nicely. I would've liked more urban combat in the U.S. type missions tho.

Date : August 17th, 2016 - 10:18:09
Then Modern Warfare 3 was born. The level begins with the player, Sgt. Derek "Frost" Westbrook, and Sandman climbing from the wreckage of an overturned Humvee in Manhattan. They emerge to find themselves and a friendly Stryker battalion under attack, by Russian infantry and vehicles. The battalion fights their way up the street, past heavy resistance, and meet up with a convoy of Strykers at the corner of Exchange and Broad Street.
Frost, Sandman, and the convoy are then ambushed by a Mi-24 at an enemy roadblock, forcing the team of Deltas to circumnavigate the road block and enter another building. After they clear the shop and alley, they meet with Grizzly and his team, as they fight in front of the Stock Exchange.
As the team reaches the New York Stock Exchange, they fight their way through the trade floor and take a service ladder up to the roof. Using Thermite, Frost destroys the radio jammer on the roof, restoring radio communications to friendly forces, allowing air support to come. They then come under attack by enemy forces positioned on some nearby rooftops.
Frost uses guided missiles from a Predator Drone to neutralize the enemy troops on the roof, as well as an enemy gunship that arrives to provide support for the enemies. A Black Hawk then flies in to extract the team, but they are pursued by several Hinds through the Downtown Manhattan airspace. Frost, operating a Minigun, destroys several gunships. At a nearby construction site, as Frost destroys one of the Hinds, Delta team's Black Hawk crashes into the scaffolding. The impact causes the Black Hawk to whirl out of control, nearly chucking Frost out of the cabin. The pilot eventually regains control of the helicopter and the team is briefed while proceeding to their next mission in New York Harbor.

This was a really well made game and a great sequel to the amazing MW2

That battle of Washington DC seemed to be more intense than the battle of New York City, it felt more like a Warzone
of course, the battle in new york city is more close quarters combat while the one on washington is more open. also the russians at this point is already getting pushed back and probably already disorganized from their defeat in the washington DC.

They could have done so much more with NYC just like the Whiskey Tango story arc in MW2. This game was a let down but it is so much better than what came after it. I am talking Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Black Ops III and I am sure the next game will suck too. Had they spent more time on MW3 we would have had another classic.

Actually, played Ghost the other day. Wasn't as bad as my first impression. I hope IW will make a sequel to MW3. Want to know what happens to Price but they will probably kill him off. I'll take a Ghosts 2 at this point.

I always wondered why you needed to mark WH when 4 other guys were already popping green smoke?
As a large building, if you didn't cover all the building with green smoke, the fighter jets would bomb the side that was not covered, as the pilots would assume that it still had Russian soldiers inside that part.
Nobodys gonna compliment the pilot after he saved them from that crash?
No joke, I imagine Frost was having a heart attack throught the entire ordeal. Once he grabbed still on that minigun, he didn't budge one muscle not even after they were already safe! XD

Yeah, the Bri’ish (especially the SAS) get way too much screen time in the Modern Warfare reboot trilogy. (No offense towards the British)
I agree that we would love to see a MW game completely from the perspective of the ‘Mericans (especially Delta Force) alongside units from the Australian SASR or the JSDF (given that there are very few games involving modern-day Aussie/Japanese forces)

In 2024, the opening for the mission, climbing out of the truck turned over on its side and seeing a missile hit a tall building with debris flying down all around you, is still one of the coldest intros to any FPS from that era.

Like MW2 for example, I’d say MW2 started on August 09th, 2016, PFC Allen dies August 12th, Ghost & Roach die on August 15th, Shepherd dies August 16th & MW3 starts August 17th. No room to breath. Like you apparently travel across the world in just a few hours lol

they used Rangers and Delta Force operatives this is a reference from the movie Black Hawk Down they used Rangers and Delta Force too
They use them together because they are army branches duhhh.
Havock but on here they don't use the Rangers like that. because on Mw2 and they didn't even add the Delta force while they could've. Even though the only on here you play as a ranger is on a mw3 spec ops mission.
Well using Delt Force as support for rangers its a very common tactic from the US army. Same they use Marine Recon together with marines or Seals with marines. They are intelligence units. That means they support the main assault with informations or other kind of stuff like sabotage assasinations etc.
