I remember watching your first videos when you were still in NZ. What a journey has been to this day. Watching your happiness after checking that Whatsapp integration was working smoothly in prod and feeling like a god.. man.. it's what every software developer feels after struggling for hours/days with an issue and after finding the solution reap the rewards. I typically hate videos like these, but everything, including the ad was incredibly engaging.
Since he's the founder, he's in a unique position to decide what information to reveal about his company. That is gives him a crazy advantage to employees who cannot do this. Videos that actually have real challenges and information in them are infinitely more engaging than those without them.
Really nice aesthetics and attitude too. Very inspiring.

Love the energy and passion you have for this. Great idea too, can see it working well not just for paid communities but in corporate environments where access could be controlled by employment (rather than subscription) status. One of the two issues large institutions have with whatsapp is the lack of centralised access management. It sounds like you may have this solved.

Pro tip from someone who went to London for the Travis Scott concert a few weeks ago, go into your phone settings, Wallet, and then add your card as an "express card". Makes it so you don't have to unlock your phone when paying for the underground

Hey Jacob, been really enjoying your content, keep including bits of technical information in the vlogs those are my favourite parts. I would love to know more about how you handle your deployment workflow. From the videos I've watched of yours so far it looks like you are hosting your Next.js frontend on Vercel, Nest.js backend on Railway. I am curious to know how you have got your staging env and your production env and the steps you follow when pushing out updates. e.g. db migrations, any automatic testing, setting up different environments, what db you use in development vs prod etc. I feel like this part of the process is often skipped over by a lot of RUclipsrs and could be very beneficial for me and others to learn from you.

Appeal to WhatsApp. They’ve unblocked my bots multiple times. Also, the onboarding service is auto disabled when they’re banned
Are you integrating with Telegram? Lots of people in UK/Europe are moving away from meta products include WhatsApp.

Hope you have built in contingencies if WhatsApp changes their access or functionality with no notice. As a minimum make sure any terms and conditions for Subb accounts for this, otherwise you can be sued for breach of contract if the service fails if/when WhatsApp changed their code.

I really enjoyed watching this video. I'm curious to know the protection offered to creators who have chosen to use subb. For example, if a writer chooses to publish their novel in a serial style using your platform, can their subscribers steal the contents by "copying and pasting" or by taking a screenshot? Or even downloads.
What's the protection you offer to these types of creators?
It’s the internet. It’s impossible to protect completely.
Well done YOU! Love it! Just one thing here: It said in that email, "You must use your WhatsApp number, or you will be automatically removed..." Me asking here: Okay... When? How much time do I have from this point then...? Or is it not time-dependent, and it is just contextualising the correctness of the number I used there - in such a case how do I correct potential typos in my number I used there ? If it's solely QR Code pairing based, we don't have to solve number correctness there though..... or maybe I got that email wrong in my mind though... :-)
The creator would have to update the number for you otherwise you’ll be kicked

So you had entered a dummy number 99999999, afterwards it also propmpted you to use that same number to get inside that group or you will be removed, But that did not happen.

It does, it’s just a manual notification. The creator will be notified there’s someone with an incorrect number now there

that's a long integration, why not just use open-wa from which you can create the group, change the permissions then transfer the ownership to the client?

Haa you know Whatsapp regulations.... Thats why all the big companies stear away from integrating whatsapp ;). They straightforwardly say, "don't integrate that, its too difficult".

Awesome vlog Jacob. Quick question Would you share your thoughts in a video, what is your thought if you did all your frontend-backend apis with graphQL, as compared with the rest apis. Would that be safe from ddos. I ask this because you recommended employing throttling in a code base.
I used to use graphql. But all my endpoints are 100% typesafe with Openapi-cli client generation. So there’s no need to request specific properties 💪🏼
