xiaomi gives new update today and they have changed login url from miwifi.com to router.miwifi.com so you have to use this new url if you are using new version firmware (updated on 28-08-2020) another thing mobile app no longer working after new firmware update. so if you want to use mobile app you have to use default country

Today I'm going to change my xiaomi router 4a gigabit (global version) country
This router default country is EU and has 36, 40, 44, 48 Channels. Unfortunately
many countries like Bangladesh not support these channels. Thus we cant use 5Ghz on our mobile.
Many of us flash rom or change handset region. Many handset doesn't allow us to change region.
For example i'm using oneplus 7t and it doesn't allow me to change country from setting. So, i
have only one option left which is flashing my router ROM to Chinese firmware. This is really
bad as i will be not able to use official app and interface language will be Chinese after that.
But there is another way to change router country.
This way neither you have to change handset region nor flash ROM to Chinese firmware.
today i'm going to show you to change its default country from europe (eu) to China (cn).
So that we can increase channel support from
36, 40, 44, 48
to
36 40 44 48 52 56 60 64 149 153 157 161 165 and unlock lots of channels as per our country requirements.
How to change the channels?
1. login your router admin panel from router.miwifi.com (for old firmware router miwifi.com)
2. copy the below link:
router.miwifi.com/cgi-bin/luci/;stok=12bc94031d060b90f385f9069df150af/api/xqsystem/country_code
change the token and press enter it will show the name of the country your router support.
you cant change it to any country, you can only switch country between these countries.
remember the short code of the country you want to use.
First check the channel your country support from below link:

As per this link My country Bangladesh support the following channels
149 153 157 161 165
So i will select china which has these channel.
3. Copy the below link and change the token and country short code.

you will see code 0 upon successfully changing your country.
now goto settings and see the channel.

Another thing you will be able to use guest network on your xiaomi global version router after changing country from Europe to china using this method.
as per new firmware update,
Mobile App will stop working after changing region but you can switch back to default country anytime to use app again.

On the latest version some users will see channel unlocked after following above tutorial but still will not be able to connect in this case goto settings, wifi settings from router admin panel and click 5ghz channel dropdown if it shows
Auto(36 or different channel which you have not set)
your router doesnt affecting the channel change setup not sure why may be another bugs of xiaomi firmwire. in this case use below api to change channel :

Now again go to channel drop down and see whether its showing

I bought a second-hand Xiaomi 4A (R4AC, non-gigabit ethernet ports version) dual-band router a few years ago. The first owner had replaced the stock Chinese firmware (the latest is 2.18.500) with global (international) firmware (3.0.12) which caused the 5 GHz band untraceable (due to the lack of availability of selecting the channel frequency from the drop-down menu) against Bangladesh region-supported bandwidth frequency range!!!
I have come to know that our cell phones are detecting (if the Bangladesh region is selected) only the BTRC-authorized 5 GHz frequency range via Wi-Fi signals from this informative video. To change the frequency, I could not find those in the 5 GHz drop-down menu in my router. Only 36-48 were present. Firstly, I replaced the global firmware with the Chinese stock one and then I logged in to my router via browser, copied the MD5 code from the address bar, and customized it as per your shared link in the description box.
For changing the region of my Xiaomi 4A (R4AC, non-gigabit) router, I have used below link:

The router has been rebooted and now I can find the desired frequencies on the 5 GHz drop-down menu (now it has 36-48 and 149, 153, 157, 161, and 165 😍😎). Anyone can change the Xiaomi Router's region by following your suggested method without giving a hard reset (though the Chinese firmware did not provide the very first region change page after every hard reset 😞).

Thanks brother. It worked as you described. now i have unlocked 165 channel in my Mi router 3. i did not want to install the padavan for the unlocked 165 channel.
For the latest version firmware, you can change region by resetting the router. No need to change it though API. But if you don't want to reset the router and change the region anytime this method will help you.

This method worked for me. region is the matter... Tested both ways. Chosen Singapore.

If this url belongs to an extension, make sure it is properly installed.
If the extension was recently installed, try removing the /tmp/luci-indexcache file.

I had once bricked my router (r4a the non gigabit version) then I've flashed CN rom(INT rom not working) but my old phone was compatible to EU channels therefore I didn't notice until I bought a new phone. But I couldn't find the 5Ghz band and I thought the reason is my router is too old. But after searching for international roms and flashing once I came to know about different channels allowed in different countries and I've also checked another router and assured about this. Then I've seen your video and you've just save my router.

I am from Pakistan and after the last update I lost 5G network on some of my devices as the router was changed to EU and APP was also not working forcing to change country to Germany. @@MdAlamin-ui3oz you can do it only if you have global firmware backup file. You have to flash it. However it's bad practice to flash one version firmware on another version. Many functions will stop working after flashing and some cases router can be damaged and stop working completely. Only proceed if you have enough technical knowledge and accurate flash file

Do you have any idea how to unluck the limit of mesh system in xiaomi ax1800. Coz its limited to 4 mesh nodes only. While the chinese version ax5 i was able to mesh more than 4 nodes.

I just bought the global version xiaomi router ax3600. The 5G signal is very weak. With a wall and 5 meters I no longer have a signal. Currently, I have a Tenda Ac10 router and it beats it by far. I test with equal distances and the performance of the AX3600 is very bad. I don't know if it is a configuration issue and so is the router, perhaps the global firmware. Please any comments. Is it worth buying mi router 4a gigabit or go for tenda or dlink or tp link for 2.4ghz.
It's a really good router. As a gamer I like to get lowest response time and this router surprise me every time with 1-3 ms response time which is three time less than my other 4 routers. I use it for professional work to, during heavy work I never faced lagging which is usually happens in tplink.
So far this is the best budget killer.

This trick doesn't change anything except the region.
However, performance depends on the hardware mainly. Yes Chinese firmware may be little bit optimized. but still it will not give you double speed, double range or double facilities. It will give you the similar performance as per your router hardware. I'm using global version and there's no issue in using it. If you buy Chinese router with Chinese firmware you may get better performance. But if you flash Chinese rom in global router it will not increase the performance. It will only unlock few options and features. It may even decrease the performance. People flash Chinese rom in global router to unlock these features

There is no other way brother. You have to flash your router in safe mode. Make sure the firmware is accurate otherwise flashing will not work

May be your firmware is different from mine. If you want to use app you have to set your router default country to Germany. As your router can't sync data after changing country you can't use app. In my case unpairing works. Unfortunately this app has thousands problem. According to play store review it doesn't work properly even at default settings sometimes. You can manage everything from miwifi.com thus you can stop using the app. App wifi optimization option is helpful except this there is nothing special about the app. However if you set channel length to auto and restart the router it will do the same thing (auto optimize the signal by setting less used channel). So whenever you get slow speed you can just restart the router and it will optimize itself.

Hello, probably it will works. As i don't own that model I can't say you accurately. But most of the xiaomi router has api and region changing option through it. Unfortunately calling api system can be different. You have to find out your self.

If you are using us version you can use 5ghz. You don't have to change region. Check my video again. I have not said anywhere you have to select bd region unfortunately which is not possible as xiaomi doesn't listed bd as supported region. You have to select any region which has same channel as BD and usa has same channel thus no need to change.

Yes. You're right. This tutorial is applicable for these who can't use 5ghz due to region lock specially 4a gigabit global version router users. By default it has eu region locked and unfortunately eu region 5ghz channels are not supported in bangladesh. Thus we have to change the region to something that has same channels as ours.

I'm living in Bangladesh too, and my router is Mi 4A Giga, and I followed all the steps, my router is now in China (CN) region. But the problem is, all my other devices can find and connect to the 5G network, like my laptop, all the iPhones, even Samsung Tab, but all the Samsung phones in my house still can't find the 5G wifi. For example, Galaxy S9+, A7 2017, S10 Lite, Note10 Lite, A20, even J7 Prime. Plz help.
Both handset region and router must be same or use same channel. Otherwise 5ghz will not work. For example you have selected India as country from router but your handset region is set to Germany 5ghz will not work in this case. If your router region is china make sure your handset region is set to Bangladesh or china not india or others.

Your channel is set to auto. Set it any of these 149 153 157 161 from drop down and restart and check the channel again whether it's one of these or not. Currently your channel is 40 which is not supported in Bangladesh.

It's working fine here, either you have selected wrong country or your router need to be pair again. First go-to app settings then unpair the router, then close the app and open it again. It will ask you to login then login and make sure the country is selected as same as your router current country, then the app will scan for router and pair the router. App will work without any problem.
Some router users reported changing country doesn't affect their app while others reported it removed some functions and added some functions and some functions are not working. In my case guest network added and app sometime failed to connect router. But most of the time everything works without issue. If unpairing doesn't solve the problem you can change your country to default again and then login the app.

Try to flash your router in safe mode with proper firmware file.

You have to contact with your isp regarding this. Probably your internet settings is wrong or your isp have issue.

If region is not listed you can't use that. Select any of these region which has similar channels like your country. Check link from the description to findout which country has similar channels like your country. If you're living in Bangladesh use Thailand and set 157 channel from settings. In this case Your device region must be Bangladesh.

Sorry for not explaining properly first. I am living Turkey but I can only use 4 channel. I want to use all of the channels since there is a lot of 5Ghz modem around. I have AX1800 and I reset the router twice. I tried Chile and Australia. Australia support additional frequencies but they are not supported in my region. I need frequencies between 36-140 but couldn't manage the find how. Do you know anything or can you shot path?
You can only use the channels which are whitelisted in your country. You cant use any channel as per your wish. If your country support only 4 channels you have to use any of these 4 channels.

Go to this link and you will see all channels and country name. I can see thailand has lots of channels and mostly supported in turkey so you can change to thailand and check. If it doesn't unlock more channels try any other country from the list
However you can use any of these 4 channels which is supported by your router.
Unfortunately, 5ghz has very low range thus overlapping issue usually not happens. In case of 2.4ghz overlapping occurs as the range is very high comparing with 5ghz. You can use wifi scanner app to find out whether someone else is using your channel or not around you.

Bother is there any way to update the router? My router is stuck on 2.28.132. It wont update to 3.0.5, before and after applying your trick.
Make sure xiaomi router website is accessible from your isp. Some isp blocked their official site. You can download the firmware and update it from router admin panel.
Hmm I don't have China in region option. Xiaomi AX3000. Do you know the solution for this? There's not even an option for change the region to china >_

Short: my setting is using channel 48. Basically that's it.
But, how can I get that value? I'm doing trial and error. First by turn on compability mode for 5G and then using 80mhz only and start from channel 36.
Channel 36 Not detected. 40 not detected. 44 detected and working fine.
After his, I raise 80mhz to 160mhz. Still working fine.
Then I turn off compability mode, then it's not found again. After that I just raise the channel till I found the worked one. Luckily, it's working on channel 44 so I didn't wait too long.

you dont need to change it to china . just check which bandwidth channel your country support and find which country has same channel like yours from the router supported country list and switch to that country, i saw china in video cause my country has same. You can check the video again i told it first and gave a link where you can see which country support what channel.
