I think the problem was that they didn’t date for long enough before they got married. Most of the time they spent together was related to descendants of the sun. Either on set or promoting the drama. I think they kinda fell for each others’ characters rather than fully experiencing the real people behind those characters. After getting married and living together they probably finally got the chance to really experience one another and realized they aren’t a perfect match.
Good point... I think a part of them must have liked the other partner, but perhaps the person they first fell in love with was the character... Joongki fell for Moyeon, and Hyekyo fell for Sijin... It wasn't anybody's fault, because love is messy, love is unpredictable, love is chaotic, but love can mean happiness if the right partners end up together. They may or may be get back together, but I pray for their happiness.
