Lars Haugen is amazing. I was very happy to see him win the EBEL playoffs this year. So sad he won't play for Norway in this years World Championship. He came from nothing in 2011. He was living on benefits, he only played part time hockey in teams that was struggling to survive in the Norwegian league. He also became the only option in 2011, because other main goalies were injured and options were very limited at the time. He started his international carrier against Sweden, and helped Norway to win for the first time in 62 years. He went from being 3rd Goalie in Lørenskog, sendt out on loan and became backup in Manglerud Star (a team that relegated to second division that season), to KHL and Dinamo Minsk. He had to spend his first season in Belarussian league, to earn his spot with the KHL franchise. After being promoted, he had some tough competition to get ice time. During the NHL Lockout against all odds he managed to steal the main spot from Pekka Rinne (NHL superstar) and Kevin Lalande (Canadian import that changed citizenship to play for Belarus). Haugen is underrated, and in my eyes a pure legend.
Yeah, he is a great player and a great person! He saved us(EC-KAC, the EBEL Champion) many times and without him, we would never won it! It doesn't cares how good a team is, without a good goalkeeper you are nothing. Lars is the best keeper I have ever seen in the EBEL! Lars is a hero for Klagenfurt!
