- HELLO!!!
My name is Desiree Alexis Roy, as you've probably already figured out!
Today I am really excited to share this awesome step by step vegan cheese sauce recipe! Whether your plantbased or have a dairy allergy this cheese sauce is a great dairy replacement! I personal love using this sauce as a taco chip dipping sauce, but it can be used for so many other things. I've used it on burgers, in wraps, on pasta, on veggies, and on top of many dishes... it's very versatile! I hope you enjoy the recipe and if you have any freed back or questions please don't hesitate to post them in the comments below. And with all that said, enjoy your cheese sauce!
Hopefully you keep tuning in as I embark on this new journey, discovering how to "do" life (and cook!) after Uni.
Cheers! xoxo

My recipe:
▽▽▽
1 medium onion
2 medium potato
2 large carrots
2 cups water
(add these ingredients to a pot and boil until soft)
Add the following ingredients directly into a high power blender:
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1tsp white miso paste
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp dison mustard
1 tsp yellow mustard
1 small vegetable bouillon cube (or 1/4 to 1/2 of a large cube)
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 paprika (smoked or sweet, which ever you prefer)
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp pink Himalayan salt
1 tsp soya sauce (I used low sodium but what ever you have will work)
3/4 cup soaked cashews (1-4 hours soaking)
NOW...
add the cooked veggies and their liquid to the blender with all the seasoning and soaked cashews. And that's it folks! Just blend until completely smooth and store in the fridge. I store my sauce in a large mason jar in the fridge, and warm it up whenever I am ready to serve it.

Found this recipe years ago and love it. My grandkids used to eat it by the spoonful.
I found it on line too and of all the vegan cheese sauces I’ve tried to make, it’s the easiest and tastiest. I made it few days ago and I save some in the freezer. Hopefully, I can keep it for longer. Keep on vegging!!!🤙🏿
I made it today. It is good. I forgot to buy miso paste. I added more nutritional yeast. My family thought it tasted like cheese and they are not Vegan. Thanks for sharing
I make this exact recipe (minus the miso) and its phenomenal. My family loves this recipe. I’ve been making this twice a week
I couldnt find miso paste so I used 1 tbs of soy sauce and a little extra salt. It was so good!!!
This is a great cheese sauce. Tastes exactly like the very expensive cheese sauce used at the vegan restaurant down the street.
Does it really!? I’ve tried vegan cream cheese recipes, vegan cheeses recipes… don’t taste anything like cheese. Should be called vegan style vegan spreads. I’m looking for cheese flavoured vegan, good for weight loss sauce. I’ll try this, but I’m sceptical… besides, cashews are not good for weight loss. Hmmm. 🙄
OK IM BACK and wanted to say I made the cheddar cheeze sauce last night. I didn’t have Dijon, miso paste or the veggie cube so I’m sure the flavor is missing those but honestly it’s really good how it is. We dipped pretzels in it and we really enjoyed it
I love the beginning when she says " I just love putting it on everything " LOL
I like the ingredients a lot going to try this - THANK YOU ;)
I just made this tonight. Its soooo good and has the same texture as real cheese sauce. I tried the store bought vegan cheese sauces and they were not good and taste like burnt plastic. Thank you for sharing!
Try with Pimento's .. My Grandkids love this Pimento Grilled Cheese, sprouted bread.
Thank you for the review :)
Excellent recipe, I make this all the time!!❤️
Made this today...very good. I like the sweetness of the carrots.
Made it, this was awesome thanks
This is my go to cheese recipe every time. Thx
Desiree, great video!
I just made some today!
I started on a Plant Based Diet three weeks ago. I’ve lost 10 lbs.
now I’m going to have to change the content of some of my videos.
When I started my channel last year, I focused on grilling and smoking meat. Looks like I’ll be grilling and smoking veggies and potatoes now. LOL!
I subbed to your channel and rang the bell 🛎
TFS!
Thanks for the sub! I'll have to swing by your channel. I am just getting back into thing over here for more videos to come soon!
I looked at A LOT of vegan cheese sauce recipes before trying to take a stab at yours. I made it today and my husband and daughters LOVED IT!! I took your suggestion and made a spicy sauce and a mild sauce too. I did omit the miso paste - just didn’t have any. Plus I even used the spicy 🌶 sauce in a vegan mac-n-cheese. #AwesomeSauce Thanks for sharing your video! 🤗👍🏾😋
Just seeing this, and I love it! Thank you for the lovely comment!
Cant wait to make this.
Pressure cooker. I love mine. Great recipe. Thank you.
Try adding your raw cashews right into the cooking water, saves a few steps and some time. :)
That's a great tip.
Thanks for sharing.
Usually nuts are soaked not only to make soft but to ‘activate’ them.
Looks good ***sips on huge glass of whole milk***
Can I us sweet potatoes instead?
I don't see why not, I would just hold off on the carrots if subbing for sweet potato, otherwise it might be a little sweet.
Thank you I'm now wfpb @55 so, thank you soooooo much n helpful..gonna give yours a try..
It's been a while, but I hope you did give it a try!
I can’t wait to make this and try it! Thanks for sharing!
I haven't tried it with miso paste.....good idea
it makes a huge difference, and i really like it
This looks amazing, thank you sharing
Fabulous thank you so much for sharing
You've got talent. Great teaching video. TKS for uploading.
I made this and it was delicious!
This looks terrific, I'm looking forward to trying this version! Quick question though, you mentioned that it gets better over a few days. Most of the time we add spices to things while they are still cooking, not right before we serve them. I haven't tried this recipe yet, but I was wondering if it would be better to add all of the spices to the cooking water (along with the cashews as someone else cleverly suggested) instead of into the blender container? I'll try the recipe this weekend as written, and I'll try the mods for the second batch and LYK, but it'll take me awhile to go through such a generous quantity! Input? BEST TO YOU AND MANY THANKS!! E
I grow walnuts so I subbed them for the cashew. Yum
YUM! I would love to try that
try roasted red peppers instead of carrots, saw another recipe with oats and the peppers were key in her recipe
WTH omg excellent idea!! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️😍
Great recipe I’m glad I found you and subscribed ! Thank you!
Thank you! I am finally getting back into filming so more content to come :)
Can it be frozen? Can you add agar agar to make it into a loaf?
Late reply but I figured I'd answer for anyone else curious. Yes to the agar agar, I haven't done it with this recipe so I am not sure on the amount, but it would make a nice slicing cheese I'm sure. and if frozen it would most likely need to be reblended, and the water tends to separate from these things once frozen.
Chipotle pepper in adobo sauce---awesome add-on! :) Thank you for yet another great cheese sauce to add to my arsenal! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
Oh yum! That sounds great, glad you like it!
Awesome Des 💕💕
Added jalapeños 👍
You should make a vegan cheese ball!
Kenzie MacDonald that's a great suggestion. I think I'll be doing that! It's been so long since I posted a video. I really like the idea - thanks
That's a lot of sauce. Can you freeze it? Or will it change the consistency?
I've heard others say it doesn't reheat well after freezing, it's easy to half the recipe tho
Yeah organic ingredients
Can you leave the cashews out?
You definitely can, you just might want to add something else to make it creamy. It would be worth experimenting with!
How about Braggs amino acids instead of soy sauce?
That's actually what I use now! Love braggs!
Great idea
I made it today idk it tasted a little sweet to me.
How long does it last in the fridge?
About a week I'd say :)
I’m making this right now minus the miso paste
I don't do the carrots because it takes like vegetables in the sauce and a used boiled onion and about a quarter of a small raw onion if I'm making my normal batch to bake in the oven. I also mix and some vegan cheese shreds to melt. And instead of the carrots I use a snipped off piece of roasted red pepper in a jar in water. I like the color better and it doesn't make it taste like vegetables I have been vegan a very long time. So I'm not one of those complaining new kid vegans who says there's no good cheese replacement there's no good sandwich meat Replacements there's no good pizza all of the macaroni and cheese sucks! I wish I was near one of them cuz I'd slap them right upside the head! :-)
Elizabeth Shaw yes! I love using red bell pepper instead as well. I tried the potatoe method but didn't like it. I think this method is better with pasta. Great video tho!
"Slap" hum... I could slap you right at you butt if you want ..
Ive been trying to make vegan cheese with potatoes carrots abd nutritional yeast to name a few ingerdients and im not satisfied.... lol any tips people?
Can you mix it up in a normal blender? I don’t have a vitamix :/
Of course! Just try to get it as smooth as possible :)
Desiree Alexis Roy thank you so much!
Do you know that half of the people here cannot work with this recipe due to the measurement? What is a cup? I'm just sad that so many people don't convert it/ measure the weight. You could reach a lot more people by that
I actually use weights for most of my cooking now, I next time I make this I will weigh it out. Going forward I will definitely include that in food videos. Great suggestion.
@@pintsizedlife That's awesome!
A cup is a unit of measure used in cooking lolhahahaha they can be found in many stores but is an essential for cooking I suggest you get one and quit being difficult
You are probably the only one that doesn't know what a cup is here lolhahahaha
@@russelmurray9268 No. Google where in the world cups are seen as a legit measure. If I stumble so easily into this video, why would you think that only Americans see this
Can you pressure can this??
Oh I bet it would go well in a pressure cook, I haven't done it myself though. Let me know if you did end up trying it, Im curious. :)
I can’t have nuts what’s a good alternative
I've seen other vegan recipes use sunflower seeds in place of cashews. Can't confirm the taste, but it's a nut free option.
joy54321 thanks
White beans!
It's the color of yellow primary paint or French's yellow hot dog mustard! It is an off color for a cheese sauce of any kind. Yellow is okay this looks like it's not edible I don't think you needed the turmeric because that is the function of the carrots. I use the most tiny amount of turmeric if needed but usually I get all the color I need from my piece of red pepper. But I am going to make this because it makes a large amount and I don't have a caregiver every day of the week yet.

Can't hear you, Mike is turned way down
Hi, I have a problem with Raw Vegan, Vegan and Vegetarian foods purchased from stores if they'er over saturated with sodium, hot spices or whatever! I believe Raw Vegan is the best choice of eating than Vegan and Vegetarian and in my opinion it's better to prepare these foods yourself at home! When I go to the store and read the label on these so called healthy products, the sodium content, many hot spices and excessive carbohydrates in them makes them just as unhealthy as eating an unveganed lifestyle whether it's raw or not. Even if you prepare your food at home, lighten up on the excessive use of sodium, hot spices and carbohydrates!
Christine Jones vegetables, fruits and beans are mostly carbohydrates.... Yep
