    As for consistency, quality, and fair grading, CBCS is far superior in my opinion.

    I still don’t understand why CBCS & CGC don’t have a video on RUclips and their website on the grading process.

    Every comic book that gets graded should come with grader notes your paying between 20 to 50 dollars per book, considering S&H, plus insurance and return shipping, is the least they could do. Great topic video

    CBCS has been listening to clients and customers, making positive changes and innovations. Everything is lined up now for CBCS to command a much higher markets share. You just need to send in the books and demand the same value when you sell those CBCS books on the open market.

    I really liked this discusdion about the grading market . This is an important topic for everyone to understand especially for new comic collectors. Thanks for sharing

    What I would love to see (and if they charge a little more that could be fine) is them making a video of them grading the book and explaining why it got what it got. Then there aren’t any questions.
    As far as other things go, and I know this will never change, I wish the grading went from 9 to 9.5 to 10 and you didn’t have the 9.6 and 9.8 separations. Having a 9.5 would probably be good enough for everyone instead of this crazy 9.6 and 9.8 difference that means next to nothing in reality but the price difference is insane.

    It's a coin toss, much like their grading.😏
    Now something i really don't like is when sellers make a huge deal about books being a newsstand when It's from the early 80's or they try and upsell a book because it has a custom label. Who the hell thinks a custom label should make a book worth more? 😂

    I only trust Cgc when I get a 9.8 😊. Anything below that should have grader notes

    I might be new in collecting comics but i think they should take out the 9.2 - 9.4 & 9.6 and use 9.0 - 9.5 & 9.8's so that we can have a better understanding a defect of the comic when it;s slabbed and give grader notes any comic under a 9.8. 9.8's shouldn't need a grader note. and also take out the 9.9's and bump it up to a 10.0 showing the highest grade.

    Only thing I don't trust is that CGC uses a sliding scale based on book or era. If the manufacturer gives every book a bent corner, then a 9.8 is impossible for that book.

    I really enjoy this newish format, and great to see Drew and Kris joining the show.
    The lack of grader notes happened simultaneously with CGC making the decision to require a current membership to access past grading notes, which used to be public -requiring only typing the cert/serial number into a public page. That's no longer possible.
    It's strange to me that CGC is still a better investment for submission and sale when the slabs at CBCS are so much better. The new CBCS labels are fine. The CBCS grading seems more accurate, and yet there is still a 20% premium for sales on a CGC slab.
    That's without even addressing the sliding scale that CGC uses for charging, which is a total conflict of interest.

      @loumonoph 9 месяцев назад +1

      You can still check past grader notes without a membership to cgc. But they have always been bad for notes, especially on moderns. Even when you had to pay 5$ for each book notes years ago, not all books would have notes. So it's more of a process issue then trying to get more money out of people.

    My problem with cgc is when I buy a cgc 9.8 off eBay and as soon as I open the package I notice 3-4 obvious defects that to where I wonder how the hell the cgc graders came up with giving this book a 9.8?!

      now we know why, theres a lot of evidence CGC reholder process has been letting lower graded books given 9.8s

  • @leerogers5318
    @leerogers5318 9 месяцев назад

    I agree with many of the commentary on this subject. What choice do I have? I either send in my books or not. Fact, by far, graded books are always worth more than ungraded books. We really need to have more choices in the slabbing market.

  • @davelaughey431

    It's the 9.8 grade that would ultimately be destroyed in value if confidence in its superiority to a 9.6 becomes seriously in doubt. For me that has already happened so I don't chases 9.8s. Hundreds of clued up collectors on RUclips reviewing returned cgc submissions and getting 9.8s on books they maxed out at 9.4s and vice versa!!. Error rates need to be in the 1 to 2% range to justify such large value differences between top grades, I'd suspect they are clearly worse than that. My opinion of course no disrespect to anyone else's.!!.

    Maybe over time "too many notes" or a detailed database of all notes could open them up to legal challenges/reputational damage if found to be wildly inconsistent at times. The fact that they are resistant to giving notes, and being more transparent about the overall process feels like they don't want customers to know how the sausage is made. What if they have changed their philosophies/grading standards several times throughout their history? It would be awkward to reveal that their standards were like moving goalposts at certain times- better to say "its an art, not a science".

  • @MWP12
    @MWP12 9 месяцев назад +1

    No, it's a scam. CGC shilling hipster Comictom101 even did a couple of shows about how dodgy CGC are but then seemed to make some sort of deal and shilled their prices and, shock horror, privated the youtube videos that criticised them. True story. It adds no real worth to any comic and CGC can't give parity across all books, it's not possible, so it's not a store of value by definition, it's barley one level up from NFT's. When the bubble bursts there's going to be a lot of people holding worthless plastic casses and I can't wait.

      @Comicbookyoutubersrock 9 месяцев назад

      I've heard this soo many times lol. It's almost like a big joke, that's become a conspiracy. I mean no proof out there to say that a grader having a bad or good day will provide a worse or better grade. If I'm at a comic convention and trying to work out a trade deal lets say for raw books. So if my cat just passed, I'm not going to grade the books differently because I'm sad. I don't think emotion goes into it as much as people think.

    Keep making these videos. Keep talking about this for hours and hours. Meanwhile by the end of the week make sure you ship your comics to them to get graded. Yeah you guys are really smart

  • @Comicbookyoutubersrock

    Jerno, I thought CGC grader notes were changed to be free for a while now? As far as grader notes in higher grades, yeah that does seem to be the case that notes aren't provided all the time. Doesn't bother me personally, but I can understand you would like to see them. Anyway, I trust both CGC and CBCS. Don't trust PGX or any other company. I've submitted thousands and thousands of books over the years to CGC, and barring the occasional disagreeable grade it's been super consistent. I can't be the only person who's experience this.

      Grader notes are free. Just go to cgc certification # and plug in the cert #. You will see when the book was graded and graders notes, IF AVAILABLE. sometimes not.
