Institutional preferences are totally out of hand at elite colleges and universities. Do any colleges or universities publish their ED or RD acceptance rates for applicants who do not fulfill an institutional preference? I can think of no other statistic that would be more useful to prospective applicants and their parents. By institutional preferences, I mean all of the following:
    o Legacy students
    o Athletes
o Musicians, composers, dancers, painters, sculptors, actors, singers, or others who are accepted because of artistic expertise
o Children or other relatives of donors or perspective donors
o Directed major acceptance (undersubscribed academic interest)
o Desired geographic or national diversity
    o Desired religious diversity
o Desired racial or ethnic diversity
o Desired sex, gender, or sexual preference diversity
o Students who were accepted because they came from lower income homes.
    o First generation college students
o Relatives of faculty or staff.

Sadly no.. The world of college admissions would change drastically if universities published stats like this.

Excellent video. Wild how incredibly stacked the odds are against students who aren’t privileged. makes it all all the more impressive when students from underprivileged backgrounds make it through without the legups. also love that lil opera cameo haha
