Great video. So many people don't understand the art of keeping beaters on the road for people. Keeping them safe but not having the customer chuck unnecessary cash at it definitely an art.
great vid thanks just curious did you really do the entire thing using a torque wrench once or did i miss something? Pretty cool to see how simple you made that when i would of been doing that in my driveway for 2 days ha.
thanks for the video. getting ready to do hub bearings , axles, lower control arms and struts on my 99 GP . 92k mile car but has a shake at 65mph . broke the axle joint the other day, grease coated everything.
I know the non-ABS hub assemblies for these cars are actually more expensive than the ABS hubs. I feel that the ABS hubs are more readily available too. Easy to just cut the 2 wires and cheaper so why not. Good video!
The price difference isn't huge but you think there is more materials in making the ABS hub that it would be the more expensive one. Must be a supply and demand thing.
for your brake dust shield that goes between the bearing and your spindle face, you got to be careful as the rotor will be that thickness recessed farther in towards the brake caliper bracket. Off centered. I have had rotors rub on the caliper bracket by leaving the dust shield off.
Thanks for the video... I had to find something where I could see into someone else's wheel well... I recently started hearing a more intense 'bump' when I go over bumps... I looked in the front wheel well, and I though my shock tower was low.. causing the tire to rub, but it seems like it's low on all cars... maybe I just need to just change out the shocks.
Out of curiosity since I found your channel through your toolbox tour of your green epic box at the cat dealer do you still work at the cat dealer as well have your own auto shop or just rocking and rolling at your own shop
Thinking of opening my own garage at the minute. Super nervous about it. Big step. 😅 working with people is the biggest problem for me. How do you handle awkward customers or people who always try to get out of paying?
What if your strut extends down too far to put the strut back into the knuckle/spindle assembly, what do you do then, I currently have this issue, McPherson strut tool doesnt lift the strut up at all
It’s all aftermarket garbage out of the same bullshit manufacturing plant sold at all parts stores (Dorman mostly). When you do this every day you learn quickly what to use aftermarket and what to use OEM. I use Auto Value specifically for their Mevotech suspension line (best suspension parts I’ve used) and Timken wheel bearings. That is why I do most of my business with Factory Motor Parts because I can get many things OEM for GM and Ford.
And now this wheel bearing will fail prematurely because you hammered the axle nut on with the impact wrench instead of torqueing it to spec with a torque wrench.
Good lord 😳 go in have wheel bearings. Dude just cost the guy a 4 wheel alignment. Air impact every bolt. Skip the shield that's important. That's how you screw the customer. You'd be fired from my shops. One master hacker
What’s “go in have wheel bearings” mean? Air impact every bolt? There’s nothing wrong with that that I can see. They’re tight aren’t they? Also, how is he going to cost him a 4 wheel alignment when he put the struts back where they belong? (On the front of the car) “You didn’t put the shield back” its a dust shield. If your really that concerned on a beater about a brake dust shield, your more than likely trying to sell the customer some other part they don’t need. Also, if you watched the video, the drivers side dust shield was cut off. I’m sure you didn’t watch that. Remember, this is a beater car.
Ive done the wheel bearings on this car on my own without a impact wrench. As long as you don't fuck with the tie rod you won't need a wheel alignment.
@@Willyd2758 Strut bolts should have never been touched. Yes, the camber "should" be ok going back together, but it is possible it is now off. Guy put everything back together with an impact. I personally would snug everything up, then go back with a ratchet or wrench for final tightening. Impact and send it🤣. That bearing has been off before, its a 15-20 minute job, even tightening everything on final by hand.
Awesome video as a young mechanic these are the absolute best, thanks

I don’t remember off the top my head, but I believe these were the same price for both assemblies and they had both in stock.

I agree but in this case it was not going the make a difference.
Thanks for the video man! More automotive repair video please 😊
On its way.
Just found the channel, good job bro.Dudelucky you caught those he be riding in the back of a ambulance otherwise
I had to rewind lug nut magic about 3 times. Don't know how u did it 😆
I would have put some silicone brake grease on those sliding pins, even though you were not doing a brake job.
Thanks for the video...

Just may shop since the beginning of the year.

Put systems in place to avoid all those problems before they start.
Also if they dont want to pay, keep the car and tell em you can get a mechanics lien on it.

Do you think autovalue has good quality parts

@@ValleyCityAutoYT well said we’re would you recommend getting good Honda part from Based off your experience
@@hamerkiller as a shop owner, the dealership. If it was for personal use probably one of the OEM parts warehouses online.

Where’s the videos at man !!
@@fatalnsg513 They are coming.

Don’t wanna be that that guy but if a bolt isn’t moving nicely, put the nut back on and tap on that. Just to protect the bolt threads.
Not necessary on pilot bolts. Don’t jump to conclusions. People don’t like know-it-alls.
aint nobody got time for that
Where did you go
Been busy with the business. More content is coming soon.
Is BCA bearing good?
Awesome Video
thats the stock sway bar links gm used on these cars
Will a bad bearing cause my lugs to break ?
No, they shouldnt.
And now this wheel bearing will fail prematurely because you hammered the axle nut on with the impact wrench instead of torqueing it to spec with a torque wrench.
He did torque it to the proper value at 13.01
How many employees do you have?
One at the moment.
Do you regret leaving the heavy line tech world..
You messed up three on strut spindle bolts
Keep up the videos! Are you the only mechanic at the shop?
Full time yes. I have a handful of guys that work as I need them for now.
I dont know about saving lives...My winter beater 08 GP was spitting out ball-bearings the other day..lol
Lmao yea idk either. The air bags were already set off on this car.
@@ValleyCityAutoYT What is the first video about.
No gloves
No mask
No eye protection
No problem
Cheers!
Work smarter not harder . I would have had both done before you got one done. Did you do an alignment ? Glad you don't work on my car's.

You sound miserable af lol

There is no camber adjustment on these cars... unless u put in a cam bolt
