This is fender 1960 custom shop. Time Machine series. But I changed neck.

Yes, john is my inspiration, this is the tone I love, is this setup expensive to get/ easy to set up? I have a feeling it is not straightforward because you said you're happy with the tone 'finally', also you said you have to adjust the mic setting - does the tone not sound like this in real life?
It sounds so much better if you hear directly. To record what you hear, that’s the most difficult part.

If you have silver jubilee, miking is important
What are your settings? Do you use a CE 1 Pre Amp?
I have Barbarella which is similar ce-1 pre amp.

Distortion sounds sublime but I think if you wanna get closer to Frusciante territory you should turn up the gain a bit on the cleans. His clean tone is actually a bit grittier than you’d think!

There's easier way to try and be a John Frusciante clone. You could be an actual musician and try to find your own voice on the instrument instead of just ripping someone else off. That takes actual ability and knowledge, though.
