at 4:08, Taito's Under Fire is seen being played. As for that game, it was notable for using IR sensors which even though made it a state of the art shooter, it was also a burden since it was an expensive game for the early 90s, and by that time, most light gun shooters like Lethal Enforcers were being made into inexpensive conversion kits.
I still have fond memories of playing Duke Nukem 3D, Heritic, and Hexan and watching classic and splatter horror films with my mom and dad. Hell, the only time I remember my mom not wanting me to play a video game was the remake of NARC.
Majority of the interviews I see from this era on this particular subject almost all seemingly come from uptight mothers. "Soccor moms" we used to call them. Thank God my dad knew how to have fun with his boys as we mutilated each other in Mortal Kombat.
Video games did not really have any strong language in them until 1995's The Orion Conspiracy. The Orion Conspiracy was the first game I believe that contain any real strong language.
Alright- someone here help me out. The very first regular episode of Nick News was all about this horrible violent video game with Nazi imagery(it's how I first learned about the holocaust, so...thanks, Linda Ellerbee?). When I tell other gamers, they seem to think the game they were complaining about was Wolfenstein. Now, the dates of the show and the game line up, but I can't be sure, since the show never actually named the game, probably worried that it would cause MORE kids to go out and buy it. If anyone here ever saw that episode...what was the game? Was it Wolfenstein 3d?
The violence in these video games is so comical by today’s standards. In 1992 Mortal Kombat famously got the first M rating. Doom and Mortal Kombat II also got M ratings. Lazy parents acting shocked that the game has mature content after they bought their kid an M rated game, get outta here with that nonsense.
Damn girl that PC ain't fast enough for Doom. Go get yourself a 486 at once!

when I was 6, back in 93' Doom was a game I felt Killing monsters was more for protecting yourself.
All I can say is, this video is making me very nostalgic. Time to break out the Dell and play Doom 2 again!

Don't try to tell me this game isn't violent. It's called GUTS for God's sake. You can't fool your mother. I wasn't born yesterday.

Sorry for such a late reply. I was looking for this episode an hour or two ago, it’s lost media supposedly.
